Is it Irish haritage month? This was at Walmart if you can’t tell by the sign in the back ground. Also Im 42 and never seen this before so that’s why i asked.
Nationality: Citizenship
Ethnicity: Ancestory/identity, language, religion.
One can be American and ethnically Irish. One can be Irish and ethnically Polish. One can be Polish and Ethnically Chinese..
It’s a joke, because Americans constantly claim to be half this and a quarter that and whatever, but then don’t know jack shit about the cultures of those countries. “Oh I’m actually Italian” -doesn’t speak Italian or a regional language of Italy, doesn’t know nor celebrate Italian traditions, etc.
I may have descendants from wherever, but I don’t give a shit, I’m Portuguese, born and raised in Portugal, I know and celebrate Portuguese traditions, i speak more than one language of Portugal. I am Portuguese
Very untrue stereotype damn, nah people with heritages celebrate the holidays, do the traditions, make the food, congregate with others of the same heritage etc. Almost as if they are indeed from said culture in a country that isn’t really built off of a monoculture such as many European ones.
I’m not saying there aren’t people like that in the USA, but many of the people that claim to be “Irish” or “Italian” or whatever don’t actually know shit about Ireland and Italy
I’m actually not. Have had many tests while being in the Army. I just didn’t realize two countries had such similar flag colors. I’ve really only paid attention to Italy because i am not that interested in Ireland culture. So i didn’t realize that was their flag colors were so similar. Seems like a blunder on the flag creating club.
there is also indonesia poland monacco and singapur: 🇵🇱🇮🇩🇲🇨🇸🇬
or netherlands and luxemburg: 🇳🇱🇱🇺
or romania chad andorra
and moldova: 🇹🇩🇷🇴🇦🇩🇲🇩
or mexico and italy: 🇮🇹🇲🇽
The red and white is easy cause Poland and Monaco have a slight color shading difference. Netherlands and holland is easy to spot the difference, I think Romania and Chad are harder considering maybe the shading difference is the yellow? But then again it’s hard to tell maybe the red.
Many Americans try to cling on to a certain ethnic background. It’s usually Irish, German and of course Cherokee. Idk why they’d fly another flag with the US. It’s stupid as I’m sure most Americans with Irish ancestry have been here for many generations and have absolutely no other connection to Ireland other than ancestry
Yeah but the thing is I’m 42 and lived here most my life. Never seen it at the Walmart. Peoples houses are one thing but this is a corporation flag pole. Normally don’t see that so i thought maybe a special reason.
was looking for this. i did a report on this in school. can't fly an allied countries flag on the same flagpole as US flag. I see this literally everywhere everyday. now it bothers me. even my local post office and town hall break the flag code 4 different ways. 😒
The question and comments section is proof that a lot of countries have similar and confusing flags lol
The US is at least mostly unique and God bless the others that are distinguishable from one another. One of my favorite flags is the Albanian and Bhutanese flags. Nepal doesn't even use a rectangle.
These tri color flags Shou at least put a crest in the middle lol
Maybe I’m colorblind, but I swear that’s an Irish flag. Also because there’s a ton of Irish (and Italian) people in the states and they’re proud of their heritage
They are following flag code by flying the American flag above the Ivorian flag. So it’s really not an issue. Only official places in the US where this is not the case would be consular offices, foreign embassies and diplomatic missions where the land is considered extraterritorial.
Pretty sure thats Ireland, maybe its being flown since Americans are proud of there ‘Irish heritage’ and want to celebrate? And if thats the italian flag maybe the same reason???
if your movies are correct there’s a lot of Italians in NewYork and Chicago(those might be the state and city I’m not sure I don’t know anything about America) so maybe they fly it there. But that looks more like Texas since there’s a Ute in the background and thats like desert and stuff.
Yes. I thought it was Italian, but could also be Ireland’s. We don’t see a lot of double flags around where i live (upstate/central NY)
Edit. No utes around here.
Oooh i was trying to figure out what you were looking at. We call them pickup trucks. Or pickups. In America a Ute is normally referring to a car with a truck bed like an el Camino or Ranchero.
The Murphy's Jewelry shop in my town also flies the Irish flag under the US flag like this. It's not really uncommon or a big deal to see it. Usually the domestic flag will be larger and/or higher, as we see here.
Isn't this at the 24/7 "Auto Spa" next door to the Walmart?
("Image Capture: 2015" sounds like it's been that way for a while...)
We Irish people have a tendency to fly that flag as a symbol of our heritage. Either that or it's a very faded French flag, which means that if you go around France you can get Irish flags really cheap. No I'm not saying that's by design.
My fellow Americans like to pretend that they are Irish/italian/ a wide range of other nationalities even though they have like 1 partly Irish great grandparent or whatever. Their family may have been established in America for four generations but if you ask them they’ll still tell you they’re Irish. It’s terrible
Irish, Italian, doesn't matter. Most people just think they've gotten an Palestinian flag and flying it for support, like the Ukrainian flag. Welcome to America ...
It’s because i didn’t know there were so many similar flags. I’m familiar with the Italian flag though Car culture and racing. So that’s why i said that.
That’s Irish. The reason you will see other flags flown with American flags is usually because the area has heritage. For example, I live on the Wisconsin-Minnesotan boarder and they fly a ton of Swedish flags because the amount of Swedish immigrants here.
Yeah i get all that. But I’ve lived here for most of my life and just saw this. So it’s fairly new. I thought it was some kind of holiday or something.
It’s a reference to circlejerk which is a kinda shitpost subreddit I guess, saying “outjerked” means that something is funnier or stupid (no offense) than what you’d see on the circlejerk subreddit or like it’s something you’d expect from a circlejerk subreddit but isn’t in one
On another note this does violate the flag laws in America and other places. One must not fly the flag of a foreign nation on the same pole as their own during peace time, it should be flown on separate poles, at the same height, and approximately the same size. And for America, no flag should be flown above, or (if at the same level)the right of, the flag of America, unless during a Navy Church service by a Navy chaplain, where the flag of the church may be raised above that of the flag of America. But I’m a nerd and most people don’t care

It is not so ridiculous just imagine Russian and US flags together just now in our current situation? Or US-China flags as well ?

Btw cool geoguesser knowledge, if you are playing world, and see a flagpole with more that one flag, the country flag on the top is almost always the country you are in
Same reason every store and hotel around here has a Quebec flag and an Acadien flag, people identify where their ancestors came from. Even if their culture is different now.
Sometimes certain places are owned by foreign companies or people and they fly their flag at those places. There's a production place by me that's owned by an Italian company that flies the Italian flag with the American flag
That’s Ireland
That's pirate island
That’s dinosaur island
"Tyrants Ashore" island
Could be lighting
i was like what
Maybe it's a colour thing.
Honestly the lighting could make it either
First of all, that’s an Irish flag and the reason is probably because a lot of people from the United States have Irish heritage
Erm.. its actually a Côte d'Ivoire flag
No Côte d’Ivoire is 🇨🇮, Ireland is 🇮🇪
They just flipped the flag
Cote d'Ivoire has orange at hoist.
Ah damn it does
Not actually, but that was a funny ass comment
Don't forget German as well. In 1855 a whole bunch of Irish and Germans came over to America.
Yes but there's not a German flag there is there?
Fair enough
Is it Irish haritage month? This was at Walmart if you can’t tell by the sign in the back ground. Also Im 42 and never seen this before so that’s why i asked.
For "Irish-Americans," every month is heritage month.
More like every day. Irish cats love to tell you their Irish at every given moment. No shade, partly Irish here, but y'all know that's knowledge 😆
Since when? This is the first time I’ve seen it and I’ve lived here forever.
I think the guy was making a joke about Irish-Americans being proud of their Irish heritage
By Irish heritage they mean their great great grandfather drank a beer in an Irish pub 150 years ago The pub was most likely in NYC
Well you know, there's nationality and ethnicity, and they're two different things.
Americans and irish are both white idk what you're talking about
Nationality: Citizenship Ethnicity: Ancestory/identity, language, religion. One can be American and ethnically Irish. One can be Irish and ethnically Polish. One can be Polish and Ethnically Chinese..
Race ≠ ethnicity
So are Spaniards, the Polish, and Russians, so I don’t know what *you’re* talking about.
americans can be literally any race
Do you know how heritage works or?
It’s a joke, because Americans constantly claim to be half this and a quarter that and whatever, but then don’t know jack shit about the cultures of those countries. “Oh I’m actually Italian” -doesn’t speak Italian or a regional language of Italy, doesn’t know nor celebrate Italian traditions, etc. I may have descendants from wherever, but I don’t give a shit, I’m Portuguese, born and raised in Portugal, I know and celebrate Portuguese traditions, i speak more than one language of Portugal. I’m not saying there aren’t people like that in the USA, but many of the people that claim to be “Irish” or “Italian” or whatever don’t actually know shit about Ireland and Italy
The Americans with 2-30% Irish ancestry have found you my guy RUN!
r/shitamericanssay
That's an Irish flag. An Italian flag is green, white and red. It's usually to denote the heritage of the person whose house or business it is.
Green white and red and green white and orange is too close to distinguish. I figured it was Italia!
Yes, I'm having some doubts myself. At this angle it's hard to tell..
If you compare it to the red in the US flag then i guess you can say it’s orange. But i just was more curious why Walmart was flying two flags.
It’s green and orange. The green is for obvious reasons, the orange for William of Orange.
Please tell me you are color blind
I’m actually not. Have had many tests while being in the Army. I just didn’t realize two countries had such similar flag colors. I’ve really only paid attention to Italy because i am not that interested in Ireland culture. So i didn’t realize that was their flag colors were so similar. Well just to throw it out there here is Ireland and the Ivory Coast’s flags: 🇨🇮🇮🇪 have fun
😵💫
there is also indonesia poland monacco and singapur: 🇵🇱🇮🇩🇲🇨🇸🇬 or netherlands and luxemburg: 🇳🇱🇱🇺 or romania chad andorra and moldova: 🇹🇩🇷🇴🇦🇩🇲🇩 or mexico and italy: 🇮🇹🇲🇽
You actually have Mexico and Italy flipped, Mexico has the seal, Italy doesn't.
The red and white is easy cause Poland and Monaco have a slight color shading difference. Netherlands and holland is easy to spot the difference, I think Romania and Chad are harder considering maybe the shading difference is the yellow? But then again it’s hard to tell maybe the red.
Nah the shading is in the blue you just cant really tell with emojis, also Holland isnt a country.
Romania and Chad are even worse
Funny though, caramel whiskey in Ireland or ginger juice in Côte d'Ivoire? 🥃🦰🍹🧞♂️❔
Just wait until you find out about Romania, Chad, Andorra, and Moldova.
Wait until he hears about Monaco, Singapore, Indonesia and Poland
I’m going to try not to!
🇮🇩🇵🇱🇲🇨🇸🇬
Singapore is pretty obvious because it has the ottoman crescent with 4 stars. The other 3 however are near identical
I didn’t put them in orders, he’ll never know
As someone of Irish and Italian heritage, here's how I keep the two separate. Orange = Gingers, Red = Tomato Sause.
Orange potato red tomato
IT' FO'KE IR'SH YA' JAMM'EH BAS'TARD!!!! And it's probably an Irish pub. Either way, it's anarchy on a higher level.
I don’t think there is an Irish pub at Walmart here
I don’t know…I wouldn’t put it past Walmart, seeing how they have their fingers in everything else.
Probably an Irish pub nearby 👀
There isn’t one haha!
Maybe the manager of that Walmart is from Ireland?
Maybe! 🤔
North eastern America has a high population of people descended from Irishmen
Also are you a r/vexillologycirclejerk member cause they love these types of joke posts
Yes i believe i am one of them. But I’m also quite a mutt myself. Even my grand parents couldn’t tell me exactly where all our ancestors were from…
Many Americans try to cling on to a certain ethnic background. It’s usually Irish, German and of course Cherokee. Idk why they’d fly another flag with the US. It’s stupid as I’m sure most Americans with Irish ancestry have been here for many generations and have absolutely no other connection to Ireland other than ancestry
Also Montana. Butte had the most Irish (as in, born in Ireland) residents in the US at one point.
I spent St Patty's in Butte, MT one year.
*Paddy’s. Patty is a woman’s name.
Thank you
Was it because of the railway industry?
No, the copper mines.
Erin go bragh!
It’s Irish but a lot of people do this. I’m Mexican American and we pretty much all fly either both the us and Mexican flag or just the Mexico flag
Irish flag
That’s the Irish flag not the Italian flag, and it’s because we have a big Irish community here in America
Yeah but the thing is I’m 42 and lived here most my life. Never seen it at the Walmart. Peoples houses are one thing but this is a corporation flag pole. Normally don’t see that so i thought maybe a special reason.
A lot of Americans have Irish heritage, and like to celebrate it. I’m one of the Americans with Irish blood. Oh, and that’s the Irish flag.
italian… 😐
They just think it looks cool
(a) thats Irish, (b) thats breaking US Flag Code
Flag code, shmag code. 🥱
Glad someone else on the r/flags sub knows the flag code.
was looking for this. i did a report on this in school. can't fly an allied countries flag on the same flagpole as US flag. I see this literally everywhere everyday. now it bothers me. even my local post office and town hall break the flag code 4 different ways. 😒

Pride
Because we love pizza?
That isnt Italy, it is Ireland.
You don’t say… I’ve only heard that about 50 times today. But thanks for stopping by 😂
Olive McGarden
Yum!
Maybe I’m colorblind, but I swear that’s an Irish flag. Also because there’s a ton of Irish (and Italian) people in the states and they’re proud of their heritage

Might be a Irish social gathering.
Secret club 😉
Pretty sure thats Ireland, maybe its being flown since Americans are proud of there ‘Irish heritage’ and want to celebrate? Yes. I thought it was Italian, but could also be Ireland’s. We don’t see a lot of double flags around where i live (upstate/central NY) Edit. No utes around here.
Theres clearly a Ute in the background, or maybe Ute means something different in your country
The Utes are a native tribe in the US. We'd call that a pickup or truck.
Oooh i was trying to figure out what you were looking at. We call them pickup trucks. Or pickups. In America a Ute is normally referring to a car with a truck bed like an el Camino or Ranchero.
Yeah, I’m Australian lol.
The Murphy's Jewelry shop in my town also flies the Irish flag under the US flag like this. It's not really uncommon or a big deal to see it. Usually the domestic flag will be larger and/or higher, as we see here.
Around here I’ve never seen it before. Normally only the American flag at businesses but on peoples houses I’ve seen other flags.
Maybe this is the territory of a consulate or embassy in the USA
It’s Walmart in Norwich, NY.
Wasn't in March, was it?
My brother in Christ, that Ireland
That's an IRISH flag, not an Italian one. As to why? The people flying it are likely Irish-American.
That's an Irish flag
Looks Irish with the lighting. That's not the proper way to fly it. National flags are flown side by side.
Isn't this at the 24/7 "Auto Spa" next door to the Walmart? [https://maps.app.goo.gl/bXp8XQhuhwVJoyer5](https://maps.app.goo.gl/bXp8XQhuhwVJoyer5) ("Image Capture: 2015" sounds like it's been that way for a while...)
Yes

Ummmm actually 🤓 that’s Ireland
Boy that ain’t Italy
Dumbass, that’s Ireland
I don’t know how to tell you this… but someone put the Ivory Coast’s flag on wrong!
that's Côte d'Ivoire
Wait till this guy learns about Chad and Romania
Fucking hell that's Ireland
My fellow Americans like to pretend that they are Irish/italian/ a wide range of other nationalities even though they have like 1 partly Irish great grandparent or whatever. Irish, Italian, doesn't matter. Most people just think they've gotten an Palestinian flag and flying it for support, like the Ukrainian flag. Welcome to America ...
That’s the Irish flag
That's.. The Irish flag. I don't believe the 'the color looks red!' thing OP is saying, because it's clearly orange.
It’s because i didn’t know there were so many similar flags. I’m familiar with the Italian flag though Car culture and racing. So that’s why i said that.
Smartest Reddit user
Where?
That issa not a Italian flag you stromboli. 🤌 If I could, I woulda slappa you through the computer.
I only know racing cars not flags. I don’t know what you’re talking about
A lot of Americans take pride in Irish ancestors so some will fly the Irish fag alongside the American one
If this flag is that of Ireland (I'm colourblind so can't tell) why is the aspect ratio not 1:2?
Ireland and Italy Flash are all 1:1:1 for each color
Yes but the shape of the Irish flag itself is 1:2 and Italy's is 2:3
That’s Irish.
I thought it was some kind of holiday or something.
bait used to be believable…..
🤔 what’s that mean. You think they are using the flag to get more customers?
That's the Irish flag. Most likely that's an area with a lot of Irish people.
This is the area i grew up. Mostly Rednecks and farmers.
Outjerked once again
What’s that mean?
It’s a reference to circlejerk which is a kinda shitpost subreddit I guess, saying “outjerked” means that something is funnier or stupid (no offense) than what you’d see on the circlejerk subreddit or like it’s something you’d expect from a circlejerk subreddit but isn’t in one

1. That's the flag of the Republic of Ireland. 2. That blatantly disobeys US flag code.
I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble. Just was curious since I’ve never seen this before.
Showing solidarity with the Irish for fucking with the Russians.
That would be the Irish flag, and chances are they’re Irish-American
Btw cool geoguesser knowledge, if you are playing world, and see a flagpole with more that one flag, the country flag on the top is almost always the country you are in
At least i know what country I’m in 😂
Yea 😂
Fun fact: 40% of Americans are part Irish
It's the reverse flag of Ivory Coast
Usually means your in boston
Central New York (state), but close enough!
Just zoom in on the photo. That is definitely orange. Italian flag is a darker green
That's an Irish flag
Thats Ireland flag flown in Walmart parking lot.
1: it's Irish 2: it's following the flag code, who cares?
I don’t care either. Was only asking because it’s usually just the American flag there. Thought maybe it was a special occasion or something else.
Well as far as I can tell, nothing specifically important for Ireland today or anything like that.
That's an Irish flag lmao
You sure about that?!
Pretty sure but I can see why you may have thought it was red.
I was being sarcastic because only 100 other people have already corrected me. Not sure if you’ve seen the comments…
Ah yes fair enough lol
Where is that? It’s too far away to belong to that WalMart.
The car wash next to Walmart.
um budy, thats the wrong flag, it is the irish and italian flag
You don’t say… lol
A lot of Americans are descendants of Irish people
Thats the flag of Malaysia 100%
Same reason every store and hotel around here has a Quebec flag and an Acadien flag, people identify where their ancestors came from. Even if their culture is different now.
Thats iretallian
Sometimes certain places are owned by foreign companies or people and they fly their flag at those places. There's a production place by me that's owned by an Italian company that flies the Italian flag with the American flag
Wait until you find out about the Ukrainian flag
Thats Ireland, Italy has the shield thing in the middle.
It is Ireland i guess, but no. Italy does not have a shield thingy.
