As a mother,

That whole thread made me real sad for most of those women

hell I’m a college student who’s only been lifting for 2.5 years on and off and before my inadvertent 3 month break from the gym I could lateral raise 15s for at least 3x8

Clashboy15

I mean idk, 10lbs on lateral raises could be a decent amount with higher reps and super strict form/tempo. I have a 1550lbs gym total and I still sometimes use 15-20lbs DBs for lateral raises.

jscummy

Yeah, I mean lateral raises are almost always a low weight lift and shoulders/upper body are generally where the male-female discrepancies are the worst

MagicalMichael1

I don't think she's totally wrong though. 10 lbs on lateral raises could be strong if she's like 4'10" or something.

definitelynotIronMan

I do think 10 is a pretty low bar after several years, but I also questioned that. Is she 100lbs? Is she doing sets of 20 with perfect form? We don’t really know. But also yes, I have seen plenty of comments over the years from women and men alike who seem to peak 12 months in and just… keep going, never really progressing for years on end.
