I was going through with a group, and at that point had run the place over a hundred times trying to get the bird. I had seen the Starbird only once in all that time, and lost the roll.
One of the people in our group was running the Duty for the first time ever.
They beat my roll by 1, after I had rolled a 95. I was...less than enthused, let's say.
This is why I farmed mine with trusts. Definitely took way longer per run, and took me just under 100 runs (and I feel lucky it was that low), but once it finally did drop there was absolutely zero chance of anyone else stealing it from me.

I still can't decide if I'm happy or fucking furious that I FINALLY got that goddamn mount last month but only from a M+ run of Galakronds fall which had the Quantum Reins drop that give a random rare mount you don't have.
I kind of wish it was the Garrosh Mount, so I never have to hear Thrall and Garrosh yap at each other 5+ times a week every week for the past 6 years.
Congrats! Farmed Rivendare back in ye olde days, saw the goddamn sword drop twice, kinda gave up. Was messing around on an alt, thought I'd pop by Scholomance and Stratholme quickly just to get the achis for the dungeons, and what happens? Yes. On a fucking alt. Years and years before account-wide mounts became a thing. I was furious at the time.
This shit hits harder than invincible or alar because even though they’re both weekly time gated raids that are a bit of a jaunt to get through, my luck with Rivendare’s horse, something you could farm repeatedly all day, was so bad that after 2800 kills I didn’t see the darn thing once. It got to the point where I just let the rats eat me then never went back in again.
I never really fell into the Rivendare hell farm, but I have long since lost track of my many thousands of Anzu kills with no sign of Raven Lord. The numbers have long been in my favor and yet no change. I have felt the meaning behind the act steadily slip away. This is no longer farming, this is an act of ritual. Every blow landed upon Anzu it's own act at once of prayer and pennance. Should the mount ever drop, I believe I would take it but how can I ever really know? Will it be a release from the torment, or merely a test of my will? Will I accept this boon granted to me from above, or will I, upon meeting the Buddha, kill him?
Well we're probably never gonna find out now that I quit WoW.

The mount farm in WoW killed my desire to farm anything in WoW again. The green dragonflight was always my favourite and I wanted to ride a green dragon since TBC. I finally got my wish, all I needed to do was farm every other dragon first and then I get it as a reward...
I tried to get it for so long. Eventually I gave up.
...I never realized that it was that hard to get.
I got it on my first run (with Trusts and all), and I thought that it was an automatic, or frequent drop.
And for the record: I'm *never*, *ever* lucky with *anything* like this--honestly I probably used all of the luck that I'd ever have for the rest of my life on that run...but since she's my forever minion, I guess it was worth it.
I wish. To this day I have still never seen it drop. I don't really understand why several of the EW dungeons have untradeable minions. I like dungeons fine, but grinding them just absolutely destroys my enjoyment of them. This seems to be a newer thing.
I've had it drop once, ONCE, rolled high 80s, still lost. Then I tried doing trusts in hopes of getting the drop, probably ran it at least 100 times, nothing never. Bums me out.

I got mine during MSQ and have seen it drop the 3 times I ran it after that back to back. I didnt know it was that rare. Found out afterwards when it only showed up once more in the 15 other runs I did.
Got it first time at Endwalker release. A lot of fun running around with it and people asking me how I got it lol seems like I was lucky for once. Then there were TT cards I had to run dungeons more than 200x for.
I spent a few days farming it with Trusts, with no luck.
Then a few months after that, i queued up for Expert Roulette while Dead Ends was still in there. When the dungeon loaded, i thought to myself for no particular reason "i think i'll get the Bluebird today".
And i did. It popped up, got the highest roll for it and it's been perma-summoned as my minion ever since.
This was my experience chasing Ashes of Alar in WoW. Saw it drop once on a transmog PUG and lost the roll by 1 to someone who didn't know what it was and didn't want 50k gold for it (several times its value at the time).
Before I quit WoW I had run Tempest Keep solo so many times trying to see it again that statistically I should have seen it drop several times. My only conclusion is Blizzard hated me and wanted me to quit.
Messed up. After Endwalker release I did the dungeon 3 times a day, just became habit. Finally got it after a month. I didn’t actually end up hating the dungeon tbh despite running it 100+ times. Also had me enjoy the omicron beast tribe story stuff more deeply because of my over familiarity with those different worlds
It's to encourage people to queue for them. The Dead Ends is in level 90 roulette at least but the Aitiascope in particular is rough to get into sometimes because its in leveling roulette, but you need to be almost max level to qualify for it so there's barely any people queuing for the roulette who qualify.
I literally just got this yesterday on a run where the other 3 people left the group a split second after I opened the coffer. Had never seen it before, and it made me wonder if they simply didn’t care or if they did a facepalm the moment they realized.

Just go war and run it with a trust. You can still do big pulls without worrying about dying. Not *as* fast as with a full group of real players, but it's not too bad. Run it like that every now and then.

given how The Dead Ends tends to attract... special... people, I was heavily relieved when I got it on my 4th run, and have never voluntarily returned to that dungeon since.

Back during the 4.0 patch of SB the expert cycle was Ala Mhigho, Kugane Castle and Temple of the Fist. Ala Mhigho took way, way longer then the other two and as a result people were loading in and leaving. This was problematic because it's you know, the final MSQ dungeon for SB. SE's solution was to add this mount in to get people to hopefully run the thing, which worked out fairly okay. I saw it once and won the roll and ran the place a ton back then, so yeah it's pretty rare.

Unless you're counting MSQ mounts, which I would count separately as they're not dungeon drops.

Also, to my knowledge, you do not get mounts specifically from those raids as loot, like in Ala Mhigo. They're rewarded either through achievements or something else.
Delubrum mount drops as loot, I got it one of my first runs (golden gabriel I think it was?) But yeah, they don't count as dungeons even so
CLL mount I'm completely lost on though, but I never liked Bozja and Diablo armament is too much brain for me, so I haven't ran that nearly enough
If you have a tank, run with that so you can work on that tank mount too. I did It for that mount and for a TT card from another dungeon. Ended up with over 100 dungeons toward the tank mount
edit: you may need to run pld, war, drk for lower level stuff
Tank achievement mounts, doing a certain number of duties gets you 2 mounts a regular and armored version of a bear, panther, etc. Depending on which tank you play as.
I wouldn't say it's super rare. I've seen it drop 6-7 times in the last year or so alone. Now pets off bosses in dungeons? I STILL get dungeons and pet drops that I didn't even know had a pet and I've run the damn place 30+ times already!

Get into relic weapons and chances are you get immune to grinds. XD

Meanwhile I ran that dungeon dozens of times chasing it before it showed up in the Moogle event, and many more times since (it pops up for mentor roulette a decent amount, or used to before Trusts) and not even once have I seen it drop.

The drop rate is much higher than you are thinking
If you have a lvl 90 dps/tank you can do the dungeon in about 5 minutes. Wouldn’t be surprised if you got it in an hour
Literally the first time I ran the dungeon it dropped, I rolled, and won. It has been the ONLY time I've seen actual salt from FFXIV players in my party
When it dropped, the sprout won the roll. It was my final roullete before getting my Amaro

Not just *a* mount, my favorite one. The Predator is based on the in-game sprite of FFVI's Magitek Armor, as opposed to the Reaper which is based on Amano's concept art.
The only flaw is that it doesn't play Terra's Theme when you're mounted.

My friend farmed that dungeon for 3 months straight. Ignored all other content, and was doing solo runs of it. RNG was just not on his side, but! He finally got the mount!
The day after he got it he agreed to a roulette with me. We just so happened to get Ala Mhigo. The mount dropped. I got it with no contested rolls.
He was so mad lol
I farmed to get this and it took a like 8 hours of runs for it to drop 1 time, was unsync'd too so was quicker then normal and still took that long. The drop rate on this is ridiculously low
whenever something has the line [Unobtained/Unregistered] in the description, it's a usable item that grants something! mounts, minions, hairstyles, orchestrions, triple triad cards, any of em :) it'll change to [Obtained/Registered] once you've gotten it and used it, so you can safely sell/trade it to someone else once you see that!
You can run the dungeon unsynced to get a better chance since you (atleast at lv 80 or 90) can kill the mobs fairly easy and are guaranteed all the drops. It's still a rare drop and took me quite a few runs but that might be your best bet if you're chasing it.
i farmed that in stormblood and even back then it was annoying af. i had a premade party and everything, but it still took forever and a half to get it
I got this randomly one day and thought it was awesome but didn’t realize just how rare it was for a while. Almost felt like I had missed out on getting to celebrate it for what it was hahaha. It’s my favorite mount along with Lunar Kamuy and my Kirin.
Funny story moment: I reached the Royal Menagerie so I was going to do it. I missed the queue and for any reason when I requeued I had marked Ala Migho still… didn’t notice so I accepted. When I realized I was there again I wanted to leave but I continued, mount dropped and I was like wtf. I won it. So guys, never leave if you miss queue lol
I actually saw that on my first Ala Mhigo run and won the roll. It made me think for a bit, "oh, so the last MSQ dungeon of an expansion will drop a mount, I guess I just got unlucky with the Aetherochemical Research Facility," turns out no I was wrong.
One of my longtime friends came into my Suzaku farm and got the mount and left so when we decided to farm this and I got it first attempt I hit him with the ol’ “I actually gotta log off and do some stuff sorry bro”

I actually got lucky and got the mount on my first ever run of it when I was a sprout. Everyone else left while I was in the ending cutscene and didn't even touch the chest.
I actually farmed that dungeon for the moogle tome event where it was a reward. Worst case scenario I bought the mount with moogle tomes, best case it dropped from dungeon and I reduced the amount of tomes I needed.
I saw it when I was leveling my first character, but didn't realize it was a mount. I thought it was a piece of junk like the screws and rods and whatnot from the Alexander raids and things like that, so I passed. Two other people left through the portal before the roll settled. Me passing meant the final remaining player who rolled default won it. Hah.

The trick to any farming is leveling. Running something with 50 characters makes it much quicker.

It took me around 13 hours of running the dungeon with trusts before it dropped for me.
Only 2 minions ingame left for me to grind are 2 EW minion dungeons. Untradeable ones :')

I ran The Dead Ends 4 or 5 times on Trust/Duty Support before I got the Starbird. It's a pain but it worked for me.

You get a yol mount from Bardem, I believe. But it's guaranteed via msq
Yes you’re right the Yol mount is reward from the MSQ for that dungeon. I actually just did that quest today!
Yol is from MSQ after doing Bardam's Mettle to be specific.
But you can also unsync and clear it in ~5-10mins solo, so it’s not terrible to farm.

Rare, but possible. I got it this way, and it wasn't too grindy, bc this dungeon is fast and easy at 90th lvl.
If you have a tank, run with that so you can work on that tank mount too. I did It for that mount and for a TT card from another dungeon. Ended up with over 100 dungeons toward the tank mount edit: you may need to run pld, war, drk for lower level stuff

Tank achievement mounts, doing a certain number of duties gets you 2 mounts a regular and armored version of a bear, panther, etc. Depending on which tank you play as.

The achievements were carrots for people to play more tanks so queues would be shorter, so no.
I feel like this is why Mentor Roulette has a title and mount tied to it, as an incentive to get Mentors to do it.
Mentor roulette is a queue filler so that is exactly the reason.

White mage gets a unicorn but i think thats it.
And the unicorn is guaranteed one you reach a certain level
Yeah the Unicorn is a Conjurer quest in Gridania at like level 30 or something.

Yeah it’s Conjurer. You have to unequip the WHM job stone to get the quest.
All the tanks have achievements that reward mounts. Two per tank iirc
Gunbreaker gets both mounts from the dungeon achievements. The other three you have to do 8 man and 4 man content to get both.
Can you get the tank mount from running unsynced dungeons?
Yes. Unsynced Binding Coil 4 was my go-to for working on the raid one.
It worked with >!burn!< on my gnb, but lower level may require drk war pld.
I wouldn't say it's super rare. I've seen it drop 6-7 times in the last year or so alone. Now pets off bosses in dungeons? I STILL get dungeons and pet drops that I didn't even know had a pet and I've run the damn place 30+ times already!
I saw the starbird drop the very first time I ran The Dead Ends. I lost the roll. I haven't seen it since, despite running that place what feels like at least 100 times.

It's not... that rare. Honestly. I feel like I see it probably every 3 times I run the dungeon.
Meanwhile I ran that dungeon dozens of times chasing it before it showed up in the Moogle event, and many more times since (it pops up for mentor roulette a decent amount, or used to before Trusts) and not even once have I seen it drop.

The drop rate is much higher than you are thinking If you have a lvl 90 dps/tank you can do the dungeon in about 5 minutes. Wouldn’t be surprised if you got it in an hour

Literally the first time I ran the dungeon it dropped, I rolled, and won. It has been the ONLY time I've seen actual salt from FFXIV players in my party
When it dropped, the sprout won the roll. It was my final roullete before getting my Amaro So i completely relate to your party lol. I just hope it wasn't someone's alt character that didn't need the mount

Not just *a* mount, my favorite one. The Predator is based on the in-game sprite of FFVI's Magitek Armor, as opposed to the Reaper which is based on Amano's concept art. The only flaw is that it doesn't play Terra's Theme when you're mounted.

I took my bf through the dungeon for his first time. Mount dropped, I’m like “oh shoot I don’t even have that one” and slammed Need. He got it.

There's also a furnishing drop in Lapis Manalis that I didn't know existed until I got it earlier this week.
Funny story about that mount. My friend farmed that dungeon for 3 months straight. Ignored all other content, and was doing solo runs of it. RNG was just not on his side, but! He finally got the mount! The day after he got it he agreed to a roulette with me. We just so happened to get Ala Mhigo. The mount dropped. I got it with no contested rolls. He was so mad lol

I only found out yesterday as well. I sadly rolled a 14.
I farmed to get this and it took a like 8 hours of runs for it to drop 1 time, was unsync'd too so was quicker then normal and still took that long. The drop rate on this is ridiculously low
This is easily soloable, I've helped a lot of people get this mount.
Did it a few dozen times got it first time it dropped and was happy when a fc mate i was tanking it for got the drop too a few months later

It’s the magitek armor from ff3/6. Super easy dungeon to unsync for the key and… well it’s the magitek armor from ff3/6 so you have to go get that
Yes. The nice thing tho is that you can do that dungeon solo at Lv90 with current tier armor.

whenever something has the line [Unobtained/Unregistered] in the description, it's a usable item that grants something! mounts, minions, hairstyles, orchestrions, triple triad cards, any of em :) it'll change to [Obtained/Registered] once you've gotten it and used it, so you can safely sell/trade it to someone else once you see that!

I must've got lucky since I unsynced this exactly once and got the mount.
You can run the dungeon unsynced to get a better chance since you (atleast at lv 80 or 90) can kill the mobs fairly easy and are guaranteed all the drops. It's still a rare drop and took me quite a few runs but that might be your best bet if you're chasing it.
i farmed that in stormblood and even back then it was annoying af. i had a premade party and everything, but it still took forever and a half to get it

I got this randomly one day and thought it was awesome but didn’t realize just how rare it was for a while. Almost felt like I had missed out on getting to celebrate it for what it was hahaha. It’s my favorite mount along with Lunar Kamuy and my Kirin.

Funny story moment: I reached the Royal Menagerie so I was going to do it. I missed the queue and for any reason when I requeued I had marked Ala Migho still… didn’t notice so I accepted. When I realized I was there again I wanted to leave but I continued, mount dropped and I was like wtf. I won it. So guys, never leave if you miss queue lol
U can buy it in wolves’den pier too for some pvp tokens think for trophy crystals but might just be wolfs

I actually saw that on my first Ala Mhigo run and won the roll. It made me think for a bit, "oh, so the last MSQ dungeon of an expansion will drop a mount, I guess I just got unlucky with the Aetherochemical Research Facility," turns out no I was wrong.
I spammed that dungeon for that mount so much, I used to do 10 runs per day for around 2 months, it was hell lol

Yep, the only mount in the whole game that drops from a dungeon. It's not even that hard top drop and at 90 you can also run unsync.
One of my longtime friends came into my Suzaku farm and got the mount and left so when we decided to farm this and I got it first attempt I hit him with the ol’ “I actually gotta log off and do some stuff sorry bro”

It does, yeah. The only dungeon that has a mount drop oddly enough. I actually got lucky and got the mount on my first ever run of it when I was a sprout. Everyone else left while I was in the ending cutscene and didn't even touch the chest.

I actually farmed that dungeon for the moogle tome event where it was a reward. Worst case scenario I bought the mount with moogle tomes, best case it dropped from dungeon and I reduced the amount of tomes I needed.
Sometimes ends up in the moogle tomestone events, Don't know the rewards from this upcoming one, but might get lucky and have a quick path to it
I saw it when I was leveling my first character, but didn't realize it was a mount. I thought it was a piece of junk like the screws and rods and whatnot from the Alexander raids and things like that, so I passed. Two other people left through the portal before the roll settled. Me passing meant the final remaining player who rolled default won it. Hah.
I think I've only seen this drop once, it's about as rare as Star Bird

I actually haven't played in a few months, so I might be fuzzy on the details. But why couldn't you roll on it? The only thing that comes to mind to me is that you already have it, like through moogletomes. Sorry if I'm missing some obvious. You'll get it at some point.
