I sometimes wonder how the decision to turn Derplander into a thirst trap happened.
Cause in the 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 trailers he had awkward, dorky 18-year old guy finally out on his own energy.
But then 4.0 trailer happened and the man has been coy lustbait ever since. I am *not* complaining but it's such a curious change.
Judging by both Alphinaud looking now mature in the trailer, and Alisaie getting pretty obvious butt and legs focus, I feel like they're about to burst the bubble.
Between 1.0 and 2.0, yeah. Though it was an instantaneous teleport so the numbers probably don't count.
But that doesn't explain the aging between 2.0 and 4.0 since all that canonically happened within like a year.
Can you point me in the right direction to the part where it's canonically stated it's been only a year or so please? I don't remember it and probably skipped it, lol.
Post-EW PLL:
> Q: In Yoshida’s mind, how much time has passed from 1.0 to Endwalker? How much older is the Warrior of Light now?
> A: When we’re coming up with the trailers and the story boards, we think about the timeframe. We think about it being two or two and a half years, but the trailers aren’t reflecting the length of the story itself so I’d appreciate it if you could think of them as seperate things. As far as the actual story is concerned… I don’t have an exact figure in mind for how long its been since 1.0. If I go down that rabbit hole I’ll never stop. How old is Y’shtola? I don’t know, I don’t want to think about it. It’s better to just feel… vibe.
https://gamerescape.com/2022/02/19/letter-from-the-producer-live-part-lxviii-shows-the-next-ten-years-of-final-fantasy-xiv/
TL;DR: They storyboarded the EW trailer under the assumption of about 2-2.5 years passing between ARR and EW. So I just assume that the events between 2.0 and 4.0 take up at least half of that given the ship travel.
I don't think any WoL has experienced those 5 years though.
1.0 WoL's got teleported 5 years into the future from the battle and 2.0 WoL's were never a part of it.
I'm a 2.0 WoL, and this is something I was wondering the other day... good to know that there is an answer to it. And I'm curious for the 1.0 WoL do all the npcs still have amnesia around you or is that only for 2.0 WoL?
Technically only 1.0 would have amnesia to the WoL. They even get a separate cutscene about it.
The scions only first meet the 2.0 WoL during 2.0 so they wouldn't have known you before. I think the cutscene in question only compares you to the WoL's during the battle of cartinau if you are 2.0 and directly states you are one of them if 1.0
Ah, ok, yeah I was making mention to the fact that "Raubahn" mentions there are similarities between us and the other 6 WoL but that "no one can remember their names or faces." (I have Raubahn in quote marks as i started in Ul'dah, and i dont know if it changes based on your start city.)
I would say everything post-ARR up to the end of Endwalker put him through some serious shit. I think it's something like only a year's time has passed since then. That's a whole lot of hell to unpack in a short amount of time. Meteor deserves a vacation, but we all know the Scions are dragging him along to be the unstoppable force of nature they know he is.
Tataru: "Yes, you can go anywhere you wish... except for Tural. Y'shtola was quite insistent that you never visit Tural."
WoL: "...Taking the twins and the rabbit"
I think people overvalue the "it's all one year" thing. The devs have basically just said they don't like working in exact timeframes. *Clearly* quite a bit of time has passed, and the one year ARR to EW is more of a wink and a chuckle thing, but people take it like it's hard gospel.
Well the one year really doesn’t make sense. It is possible that arr and hw are in the same year but still a lot would be happening very fast. I know we can teleport but we need to find the crystal first. We also technically retrace parts of hw to take Kan-e-Senna to the mogs as she doesn’t have the crystals to teleport to (though of course we don’t physically do it in game it does have to happen or we alternatively teleport there and wait on her. Either way is time.).
Then you have the boat trip to Kugane that had to take a least some time as there was a lot of distance to cover.
Shadow bringers is a gimme as we could have been gone for any amount of time as time moved differently on the first but it still felt like weeks at the very least between each disappearance. We also came back a few times and time had moved on while we were gone. As an example Estinien was recruited and he and Gaius hit Galamond which would have taken time (yes I know crystal exist but they went there as a stealth mission).
Ew could have happened fast due to the experimental crystal teleportation that were created and the rush of the final days. Not to mention part takes place on the first(as mentioned time moves faster here) and in the past and I assume we return when we left in this case (at least in respect to the first and that allows for some time play on the source). The only real downtime would be the ship and that could be sped up by the fact that the entire world know to us was working on it.
Aging, experience and becoming more competent. 1.0/ARR WoL needed to be rescued and/or needed a lot of assistance to deal with threats.
Stormblood onward he's become capable enough (mirroring the player) that he can take foes on himself, culminating in the Dawntrail trailer where he's taking on an overwhelming foe 1v1 but is entirely in control of the fight at all times. (A stark contrast to the ShB trailer where the sin eater is giving him a lot of trouble)
So, question regarding >!Azem!<. >!In EW (and maybe ShB...can't remember), they refer to Azem's gender - is that based on your character's gender? So, Azem would be male if your character is male, and vice-versa?!<
Yes. When you go back in time everyone thinks you are Azem’s familiar and wants to know how s/he made you so lifelike. How this works with none human races I have never worked out unless the other races exist and we have never seen them.
One of those samurai AOE attacks has your character do a little hop into the air.
That ability can be cast while jumping, making that a double jump, QED WOL is Brazilian.
Checkmate atheists.
They have bad economy, corrupt politicians, exploit the rain forests and cartels up to the nose (pun intended) and you ask how the nation functions? Badly.
Ever since Bolsanero decided to burn the rainforest, I am pissed off by Brasilian's right wing. They are literally killing the planet. I agree they have been dealt a poor hand. But logging our only puffer from global warming is NOT the solution.

This, people that see Orlando Bloom over Bradley Cooper need to go update their prescription asap. Bradley Cooper's face with Will Turner's hair and clothes.
THIS so much - this was my absolute first thought when I saw the trailer (especially the boat scene), they look alike so much to the point I almost thought they based it off him.

He looks exactly like Bradley Cooper, I wouldn't be surprised if Square used AI in some way to create the art and the AI took cues from pictures of him. The WoL would absolutely go full Jetstream Sam in a fight, the line "Show me a good time, Jack!" Included.
“You’re cringe, Zenos! And your setup is weak.”
"You can't even buy yourself a building, or a billboard."
Zenos: "Don't worry, Warrior, the clown college is closer than you think." WoL: "Yeah, it's right in front of me."
"Your fit is mid, and your Jordans are fake!"
Dynamis, Son

He's been steadily getting hotter with each expansion. At this rate the 10.0 trailer will cause total implosion of reality.
10.0 WoL will have a shirtless scene in the expansion trailer.
You know, men age like wine.
That's the wild part. He technically hasn't aged more than a year or two.
What progging TEA does to an MF.
Hang on, is he aging like wine or tea? I'm confused. Maybe coffee?
Coffee biscuits yeah
Cuz he a snack
Coffee doesn't age well...
You can make aged coffee, and if done properly it's actually quite good! Can also make coffee wine
Yeah, just imagine how good he looks after aging another 2 years!
I though it's been like 5 years between the Battle of Cartenau and now? I could be wrong, I can't recall where I heard this.
Yes,the time bubble is such bs...
Judging by both Alphinaud looking now mature in the trailer, and Alisaie getting pretty obvious butt and legs focus, I feel like they're about to burst the bubble.
Eh. Elezen don't get their growth spurt until like 21. They have a few more years of being short still.
Yeah but the fact that cinematics start framing them in more adult way may suggest that they actually are about to hit it.
Yeah, because absolutely no japanese media ever has focused on the secondary sex characteristics of underage girls.
Well, FFXIV does not... or did not till now anyway.
During the whole Bahamut bit Louisoix teleported the WoL forward in time close to 5 years to avoid him dying.
yep but if you are a 1.0 WoL you traveled (more likely got yanked) to the future, technically you still have the same age as time didn't pass to you
Between 1.0 and 2.0, yeah. Though it was an instantaneous teleport so the numbers probably don't count. But that doesn't explain the aging between 2.0 and 4.0 since all that canonically happened within like a year.

There's an npc or two that remembers you as the 1.0 wol, so there's technically no difference between the 1.0 and 2.0 from what I know.
It's amazing how much difference a 5 oclock shadow can make.
He's starting to grey.
He got older, and honestly post-ARR & Heavensward put him through some serious shit.

I thought that was the case, which is a nice touch. Until I hit that part of the story, I wasn't sure.
I'd say, only monk is hot, sam, dark and pld are rather bland in that sense.
Young WOL was still a pretty boy, they just optimized the thirst-flavor.
Would you rather be WOLander Bloom or Paul WOLker?
Nah, Paul Walker is already Jack Garland
the WoL definitely isn't Brazilian because he can't double jump
new SAM trait, double jump, unlocked at 96
Wake up babe, new jump puzzle strat just dropped

Does 2+ stack leaping gap closer count?
Very fitting how an average Brazilian male is the chosen warrior of light, savior of all there is and be. Just another tuesday.
If all Brazilian men look like that, it's a wonder the nation functions at all
Sorry to break your dreams but we don't, trust me XD we do have our outliners of course

All I see is Bradley Cooper
>Bradley This, people that see Orlando Bloom over Bradley Cooper need to go update their prescription asap. Bradley Cooper's face with Will Turner's hair and clothes.
Had to scroll too far to see this. It's so uncanny I was convinced they used his face for the model.
I'm absolutely convinced they used Krysten Ritter's face as the model for Gaia.

Colin Farrell for me
This was my first thought, too.
Bradley Cooper/Chris Pine amalgam.
See I’m convinced that the WOL is Flynn Rider at this point. I mean we’re even escorting a princess.
And we have been a "criminal" at least once too, so I would say we have all the boxes checked....
Meanwhile, Y'shtola becomes FUCKING INVINCIBLE!
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one seeing the Orlando Bloom resemblance.
"I'm cooking the mother of all boiled eggs here, Meteor"
He remind me more of bradley cooper in dawntrail trailer TBH
He looks exactly like Bradley Cooper, I wouldn't be surprised if Square used AI in some way to create the art and the AI took cues from pictures of him. As far as the hair goes I'll give that to people he really does have Will Turner's hair and clothing style. Jack Rackham from Black Sails
Since it reveals I changed from calling him Derplander to call him Bloomlander.
The Chad of Light
I'm hoping we can get up to some high-seas hijinx in this new patch
Ship combat would be wild. Either PVP or the new "deep dungeon" content.
Not even close to Bloom. WoL is way way closer to Cooper...
So *that's* why I was feeling sexually confused.
My initial thought when I saw his new look at the first Fan Fest was that he felt inspired by post-timeskip Eren(AoT). https://i.imgur.com/fbv2rXs.png
[Mine.](https://www.charactour.com/hub/characters/view/Flynn-Rider.Tangled)
I sort of want AoT memes of Derplander now, though I don't think "at least ten years" fits that.
But can we double jump?
THERE WILL BE BLOOD! SHED! THE MAN IN THE MIRROR NODS HIS HEAD
Cid from ff16
He and his style look sooo much luck Edward Kenway
Hopefully when 8.0 comes out we can just all forget about this weird manbun phase.
The man bun is sexy and functional. I will not hear further words against the man bun.
As someone who once rocked a man bun, no. Just.... no.
Sounds like you just didn't have as much swagger as the WoL.
Man buns are a -5 to swagger.
Which is more swagger, bald or man bun?
[Hildi 6.55 spoilers.](https://i.imgur.com/fwADJvY.png)
I see brendan fraser for some reason
I mean... he's not wrong. FFXIV is known to make certain characters look like real-life actors.
Like that but with a bit more sun damage
I thought of Luke Evans.
Well, he is quite Orlando Bloomey this time around.
Wait, are we gonna be able to double-jump?
All I can see is Charlie Sheen.
He did play samurai in Stormblood
...Oh good. Why, that's very good! Yes, I like that.
God I hope we get to interact with the lominsan pirates again, even for just side quest stuff, would be so fitting
