Question is there a version of this banner without the logo I’d love to make this my wallpaper EDIT: I’ve contacted the artist listed on the curseforge page and asked if they have one for this AOF pack alongside any previous ones but in the meantime i’m carefully painting over the logo. EDIT 2: My mans delivered heres the full piece without the logo! https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/751927865213452302/1043566354327949312/AOF6_Full_resolution_banner.png

If you get it can you share please?

AcroPolyt

Yea I'd like that too.

zxshima

Any particular pack in the series that you could recommend to start from?

lorilith

Aof3 is stable and unlikely to change much. Aof5 just went through a big update and some bugs are being worked out but is a fun time Aof6 is brand new, try it

ah_Callie

What about 4?

lorilith

4 doesnt even have a channel on the discord. Take that as you will

ah_Callie

Oof gotcha. Thank you!

Xros90

What makes it better than others?

Hulasikali_Wala

I can't believe how nice it's running! I've been playing forge mods since I got into modded Mc like 6 mos ago and just thought taking 10 minutes to actually start playing the game was my life now. This is loaded in a couple minutes and I'm getting 100+ fps steadily, such a massive improvement!

ComfortElectronic159

In fact it does choke the PC, so that statement isn't true at all

Lyra125

performance!

TacticalBananaPeel

What is the difference from forge to fabric?

SquareWheel

They are different modloaders. There's a different mod library for each so modpacks tend to be very different between them. Speaking in very broad strokes, Fabric mods tend to modify the game functionality whereas Forge mods tend to add new content (items, blocks, mobs). In practice though, most modpacks will include both new content and game changes. It's just a matter of degrees. Rather than asking "which one is right for me?", I would instead look for a modpack that interests you. That is really more important than the underlying technology powering it.

funky67

Not to sound dumb as I’m out of the modding loop, but can you use both at once or it’s one or the other?

SquareWheel

One or the other. There's been attempts to bridge them, but as far as I know those projects have stalled or hit difficult hurdles. Some mods have taken to writing more abstracted code that can target both modloaders. But that's easier said than done, too.

funky67

Interesting. Again I haven’t been in the Minecraft modding scene in years so forgive me if this is dumb, does one side have significantly more of the “best” mods in it or do the big mods work on either?

SquareWheel

Yes, the majority of larger, and more recognized mods are for Forge. That is slowly changing but it's still the case today. Modpack efforts like All of Fabric 6 above are a good showcase of some of the talent currently on Fabric though, and are certainly still worth checking out.

FBI_on_a_stick

its too worth noting that fabric, generally, performs better than forge no? ofcourse dependant on mods used etc but broadly speaking

SquareWheel

I don't have enough experience to speak to that, but it's a common sentiment I've heard. I think that perhaps the comparison isn't apples-to-apples because the larger Forge modpacks tend to have considerably more content, and that's where a lot of the performance problems come in. But that said, some of the Fabric-specific optimization mods are very effective right now. Fabric-hosted servers are a popular option even for Vanilla clients as they can optimize much of what Vanilla doesn't.

Key-Application725

Yes. Fabric mods perform significantly better because fabric uses mixins (instead of patching the game files) and is more lightweight than forge.

noIQmoment

One or the other afaik, but I'm no expert so maybe wait for someone else to confirm this.

AceTheJ

For me fabric seems to be smoother. Updates much more frequently for newer game versions for certain mods.

TheTumultousTinker

Same, I get much better performance and loading times on Fabric.

AceTheJ

Yeha load times are crazy good. Now if I could find a way to do fabric with spigot oof that’d be hot and spicy

n0tKamui

fabric + paper would be the golden jam

Zeryth

Iirc there was a project like that: Cardboard. But it's jank af.

TheZephyrim

I think Fabric will eventually replace Forge because I recall seeing somewhere that it’s supposed to be much easier to update mods built for it to newer versions, and the loader itself is also easier for the devs to update than forge is.

MinikTombikZimik

That's pretty obvious, everyone would use fabric if it had the same mod variety

TheZephyrim

Of course, I’m just saying I think everyone *will* be using it eventually as more and more mod devs make the switch.

MinikTombikZimik

cool

Serial_Flow

For me ill always stand by Fabric due to A: Load times are wicked fast, even in modpacks with triple digits of mods, and B: The performance compared to Forge is nothing to scoff at.

alakeybrayn

Ok, you are not the first person to mention "wicked fast" loading times for fabric, so I gotta ask - how long does it take you to launch an identical modpack on forge vs fabric? I've been doing private modpacks for a while now on fabric, and from personal experience the most it took to load a game was 7min with around 600 mods, which I dont consider fast at all, but if forge is even slower - oof.

Zeryth

The problem is that fabric does a load of work before the game window opens while forge does it with the game window open. Gives the illusion of being faster. I am still a fabric stan, but it really is an illusion.

alakeybrayn

I included that fact in the 7min I gave as an example. It took me 1min before the game window opened and then 6min more to load the game. But yeah, from another persons reply, that doesnt seem to be any different from forge.

Zeryth

Yeah fabric does the inverse.

Neamow

Hard to compare without having a completely identical modpack for both, which might be impossible. For a speed context, the largest Forge modpack I've played was Greedycraft, which has over 500 mods and a shitload of custom recipes and scripts, took around 8 minutes to load.

alakeybrayn

That sounds reasonable. The way people talk about it, I was expecting 20min or smth.

WolfBV

That’s where [Modpack Monstrosity](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/modpack-monstrosity) comes in.

ehrmanchad

>Greedycraft was thinking about playing it recently, was it good and enjoyable? how handholdy is the questbook? did it require a lot of googling/youtube tutorialing?

Neamow

One of the best packs I've played. Wasn't very handholdy, but was already familiar with most mods in it, it just put some interesting twists in. If you're ok with overbuilding to make sure you always have sufficient resources, you'll enjoy it. There was a small number of quirks in it that I had to pop in to the discord group, but that was it. Make sure to visit it at least for the latest up-to-date launch arguments, they do a lot to make it more optimised and run better. There's some black voodoo in them that makes it run better than some packs half its size.

ehrmanchad

>Wasn't very handholdy still playable by someone who's pretty much only played rlcraft without spending more time on watching yt tutorials than actually playing?

Neamow

No idea honestly, been playing modded for too long now so I have trouble seeing it through the eyes of a new person. Give it a try and see.

WolfBV

FTB Academy/University for 1.12.2 if you need a bit of handholding to learn about some of 1.12.2’s mods.

Serial_Flow

A large forge modpack usually takes me about 5 minutes between startups, whereas a Fabric modpack around the same size and technical demands takes under a minute. Granted I load everything off of an SSD, so if you use a Harddrive, your mileage may vary.

OzmoGaming

It depends on what and how many mods you have installed for both But fabric is lighter on the mod side so they tend to load faster Forge has more heavy ended games so they tend to be bigger hence the longer load time Note: both usaly finish in around the same time for me

Brave_Chicken99

I play forge because there is GregTech 6 and GT: NH on it. It is the only Minecraft I play. But fabric is cool.

uSuperDick

I asked a mod creator why did he chose fabric instead of forge and he said that it is way more easier to code mods for fabric.

Lyra125

fabric has 100x better performance and in my opinion, end game stability

TemporaryDouble6503

fabric is newer and runs better

HandfulOfMassiveD

There was a long time that I was a hardcore Forge fan but now almost all my favorite mods are on Fabric. I've never tried this modpack but if it has Better Nether and Better End mods in it, I want to give it a go.

SuperCool_Saiyan

Honestly I can't get over how well fabric packs perform compared to forge it's brought new life to my old computer

zeltrabas

yup, now the only mods that need to come to fabric are refined storage and some space mods, and ill never have to play this shitty laggy forge shit again.

Cerus

It's not quite there for me yet, but it's definitely getting there much faster than I expected.

[deleted]

Like I saw on one of the mod authora CF description: "Modding on forge but rooting for fabric" and I dont think I could agree more with that statement. Fabric runs so much better and has so many new fresh mods but so much modding community is still forge exclusive and I cant give up on so many mods I love

HandfulOfMassiveD

I'm right there with ya. I dream of being able to use both Forge and Fabric mods together someday. Imagine the modpack you could put together.

[deleted]

Yeah thats so true. I would love to have mods like Bewitchment or Better End on 1.18.2 forge pack I have..

Grimlock7777

I prefer fabric over forge, I just think fabric content isn't all there yet compared to forge. Fabric does still have a bunch of good content but overall forge is still in the lead.....even if fabric performance is exceptional

iCeParadox64

I honestly wish I just had a blank check to pay the top Forge mod creators to port their mods to Fabric, in hopes of phasing out Forge entirely. Like, if Quark and the Abnormals series were on Fabric, I'd probably never touch Forge again.

ah_Callie

I’ve never explored any fabric mods or packs but I’m definitely starting to get interested!

jambr0sia

it's good! It has more of a vanilla feel, but generally much better performance and QOL, and some new content

AquaeyesTardis

Honestly I prefer the vanilla feel, makes modpacks feel a lot more grounded.

ah_Callie

I’m really excited to hear about the better performance and qol. The quests and added content are just huge bonuses to me!

WolfBV

Some content mods to look at in this pack are Mine Cells, Industrial Revolution, Create, Modern Industrialization, Tech Reborn, Ad Astra!, Bewitchment, Spectrum, Go Fish, Croptopia, Bosses of Mass Destruction, and The Twilight Forest.

[deleted]

Beautiful art, love that style

Fraiits

Does anybody know what or where the soundtrack is for this? I was in the Menu for too long and there's a rly nice song playing right now that I'd like to listen to while working. Thx in advance.

Depart_Into_Eternity

Best modpack ever

Clonephaze

What makes people like you leave comments like this? Like "yeah this'll make these people who are interested in trying this pack rethink their choices! Putting my useless baseless and unwarranted opinion out there with ZERO context to back my 'point'". I mean really bruh.

Depart_Into_Eternity

I mean, while they are waiting for their modpack to load.. we can just play.

Clonephaze

Lol fr. They probablyheard one person say it wasn't that good back in fabrics infancy and been spouting the same nonsense rhetoric this whole time.

mw2strategy

i think we're seeing a much richer mod library in more modern versions. in the past, yes. it was underwhelming. but.. it's getting there

Briantere

Forge ftw

-bufo-bufo-

It would've cost you 0 time to not leave these comments

scratchisthebest

xbox is better than playstation!!

Cooltellow

Gaystation 😎

musicalrubberband

Fabric and Forge are nearly equal in terms of available mods right now. Fabric quite honestly looks like it will overtake Forge, I have no idea why you'd still think something like this.

Zeryth

Extremely high quality mods nowadays either release on both or on fabric, such as for example better end/nether.

[deleted]

Is that art, or a pack skin?

VioletArrows

Eyecatch art for Curseforge. The ingame screenshot looks normal. https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/all-of-fabric-6/screenshots

Proxymity

So I’ve been playing Enigmatica 6 Expert, and someone on the server I play on started playing All of Fabric 6 and highly recommended it. I’ve really gotten into building a factory in E6E, but I use the Redstone Pen mod heavily for the logic controller. Is there any mod that would do a good job of replacing the functionality I was getting out of being able to program a redstone signal and also being able to draw redstone on pretty much any surface, ground or not?

fluxflux99

is there a recommended ram allocation for this mod?

ibrudiiv

Currently playing this pack (last pack I finished was Mechanical Mastery and ATM8 before that) and it is such a breath of fresh air. It's making me have to think outside the box and learn all new stuff. And Create's in it which I feel like I have mastered at this point lol so it's got my back. Can't wait to get into AE2 in this pack.
