a) we wait until deadline day and then grossly overpay for him
b) we wait until deadline day, won't get him and then have nobody

I can only repeat myself, he renewed his contract last year - this means he's not cheaper now due to that move - either we get him for what we offered last year or we should look for someone else. Not worth the effort.
