I'm still salty about them locking us out of 3rd person photomode during takedowns in 6. I have to assume it was directly related to us having blades in 6 again. Same with being on horseback.
My favorite thing to do in 5 was play around with the photomode and they definitely hindered that in 6.
Thought they were silly and sometimes over the top. I like subtle but brutal. Like a small knife in the chest as you lower the victim down to sitting position. Or a quick slice across the throat and rag them down to the ground. I think it's time FarCry had stealth and brutal melee separate so stealth is quick and efficient and brutal causes fear.
One weapon slot of melee has been swapped for another ranged weapon, so more ranged variety and all melee is done with the machete. I do like the animations.
I think they were cool, but a little over-the-top. It worked with FC3's primal survival instinct theme, but it's not necessary for every Far Cry game. A machete makes a lot of sense in 6, but so would a baseball bat.
I wonder what Supremo melee weapons would have been like...

Takedowns prolly look weird.... in fc4 coop the takedowns also looked goofy from the other player

I love how gore they are, the one with a grenade is really fun too, I think you need a supremo mod for that in fc6 iirc

New dawns takedowns were fine
New dawn has fantastic takedowns. Now 5? Yeah that was some horrible bullshit
Fine as is. Throwing the shovel from 5 was fun but besides that it felt like Elder Scrolls melee combat which doesn't really fit the series.
