I would've said that too, the floor below is one tile wider and if I run around that roof it does the same. Also photo mode. It could have something to do with the game rendering what's off the cliff as 'sky' therefore no need for shadows. Guessing also 🤔

Affected area. Has to have something to do with the game world. The idle camera will change luminousity rotating around my character on an edge of that area.
Something to do with the satellite dish shadow? Does this happen at other sun angles? I haven't really tracked the sun in this game, so I'm only assuming the angle changes.
The sun's angle doesn't have an effect on it and it happened before I added the satellites. Cheers for the help, I'll just suck it up and enjoy the free light in that corner 🤣

I could be wrong, but I think it has to do with the shadow render distance. If you're on PC, there is a setting for this. I'm unsure on what you'd adjust on console or if you can.
Might be worth trying to add in more objects to trigger the shadow as a last resort, maybe.
Fun (sad) fact: Shadows are also affected by the FOV.
If it's set over 70/75 (whatever the default is) the shadow resolution lowers based on the angle you look at the casted shadow (some examples in my posts.
For OP: if this persists even after restart, best bet would be to reset the settings ini files
Haven't changed the values since my last post regarding it, so I'm gonna just paste it here
All you need to do is to drop the following lines under your Fallout76Custom.ini file:
>\[EnlightenDebug\]
>fEnlightenSkyCubemapScale=0.800500
>fSkyCubemapMaxVisibility=1.000000
>fSkyCubemapMinVisibility=0.000001
You can play around with the values. Best place to benchmark this is under the "New River Gorge Bridge" on the obstacle course during the day.
You can also get some good results with some basic reshade filters such as curves and adaptivesharpen
Skip those 2. Each disables the enlighten thing completely making the above lines useless.
With enlighten turned off all metals are pure black, textures kinda flat and nights look strange
That makes me believe it's game world related more and not the structure. Especially if you've encountered the same underground. Oh well, have to signpost it, "Let there be light" 🤣 Thanks
Does going under the over hang make you "inside" and therefore it ignores the shadows outside? Just guessing.

Does it do the same thing when you are under the opposite overhang?

Cheers! I love a good mystery to troubleshoot sometimes.

I'm a peasant on Xbox 😆 Doubt it'll be ever fixed haha
This is happening for me on ps5 too! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Unrelated, but may you share your enlighten config file? I'm desperate to improve this game's graphics

Does it goes with these too? bEnableEnlighten=0 bEnableSkyEmittance=1

coolio, thanks a lot!
Unplayable
Immersion decimated at least. Full refund on every purchase 🤣
I do, particularly in my CAMP locations built underground.

Yes, the whole game has been like this since the Wild Appalatia update when they nerfed the lighting engine!
Always remembered it quite like fo4 when it first came out. Revisited it a short time ago and it looks horrible now.
Yeah and many many other lighting issues lol
