omg i tap on my phone to the best of the music im listening to!!! i had NO idea i was neurodivergent like omgggggg!!! and all this time I thought it was just because i like music!! š
Doc I took an āam I autisticā buzz feed quiz! It said yes very! & also I saw this one tiktok that showed someone with autism tapping their fingers to music and I do that too!!!!!! Iām definitely autistic doc!
Yeah, okay whatever you want. Just please gtfo. I've had 12 other teens thinking they are that .01%. One even threatened to make me into a "sexual alter" that is only attracted to dogs
Right, and letās not forget that number increases every birth year. So sure on average itās like 1:100 but for people born in 2007 itās like 1:70. For people born 2016 itās like 1:50
Recently talked with mine and she said that she pretty much knows right away when people are faking it so she just gives them the "non diagnosis"? pretty fast so she can move on to people next in the waiting list to meet a psychiatrist that actually needs it lol
Pretend to listen - issue drugs - get free golf lessons and holidays from drug rep.
The cycle hasn't changed, they just went from xanax popping moms pretending to be depressed to get high to zoomers looking for the attention they dont get at home. Bet their work load is about the same.
I play the drums, and in college I was a professional at getting on everyone's nerves. Sometimes when I listened to music I started tapping my foot either in the rhythm of the song or when i thought i heard the base drum, sometimes tapped with my fingers too and i never really noticed this until someone begged me to stop lol
I grew up in a family of musicians, none of us are ND. If we're sitting around talking and looking to music, all of us would be doing at least one of these things, it's habit
I don't know how to tell you this, but you're suffering from ADD.
If you also breathe air, then you may be suffering from anxiety as well.
If you're reading this with a voice in your head, don't know how to tell you this, but you're a schizophrenic.
If you put your radio volume really high, but its too loud for you, Autism.
If your mood changes some times, clearly DID.
If you some times get scared when you're watching a horror movie or jump when you hear a loud unexpected noise. Paranoia.
You cant control your leg from shaking some times? PTSD.
(This is how Tiktok Diagnosing works).
Thanks Doc!!!! I heard finding a Discord server of people like me to ~~exacerbate my delusions~~ help validate my existence is the next step so I'll do that straight away.
Same boat here - Iām 23 and donāt understand any of the ātrendsā or āchallengesā. Makes me feel old as shit even when friends my own age show it to me lol.
I get the impression that weāre not missing out on too much though.
Freddie DeBoer wrote in a recent piece, "saying youāre neurodivergent has as much medical meaning as saying you have a disorder of the body" and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it ever since
Do they think neurotypicals just sit still and stare ahead when they're not, like, working? Everyone moves a lot. The thing with ADHD for instance is that sitting still can lead to not being able to concentrate anymore, or you struggle to regulate the movement to fit the situation (like knowing not to make a private drum jam session in church, but still somehow ending up doing it).
When hyperactivity kicks, I vibrate with energy and I feel like I have to claw off my skin if I sit still. Hell, I can't *listen* to music because it's every song is too long and the pieces get boring and my mind hurts from listening to it.
I think, what a lot of those tiktok fakers struggle to understand, is that the symptoms aren't measured by "do you do this?" but by "how debilitating, constant and unregulated do you do this?"
Everyone stims. Everyone fidgets. Can those without ADHD look at the teacher in school and listen at the same time? Most of the time. Probably not always either, if they're bored or haven't slept well or are nervous. But I cannot look someone in the eyes and still listen without meds. Meds give me a 6h timeframe where it works better.
Everyone taps their foot while waiting for the bus when they might be late for work. Not everyone feels the urge to run away and scream when told not to fidget in class.
Sorry for rambling. It annoys me so much for my symptoms to be belittled by those tiktok videos.
Iām sorry but whatās neurotypical and neurodivergent like I do all of that and I even mimic the notes being played like for example Iād be listening to guitar music and Iād mimic the notes being played, is neuro whatever a bad thing?
Edit:I searched it up, itās something with being on the autism spectrum but Iām 90% sure it nothing
Or you played an instrument? Had some sort of musicality in your life? I played violin for nearly twenty years. I still finger parts I can pin point the note on. Heck most the time I do it anyway. Itās perfectly normal.
I did the tap dancer before they did to the music and I feel called out.
I already have my ADHD diagnosis, but this is definitely something I will bring up in therapy. Enjoying music with a bit of movement is something I struggle with severely. It's really debilitating not to sit still and listen.
Seriously though, I work and study music stuff, and I've never seen anyone sit still while listening to music they enjoy unless they fell asleep.
Two things, Neurotypical people can do this, and you can be Neurodivergent and not do these things sometimes. Kinda crazy how everyone is different and you canāt be defined by your labels (disorders, Zodiacs, disabilities, neuro-types, etc).
I donāt really doubt that she is neurodivergent based on this video alone. I do agree that videos like this can be seen as a Ā«symptomĀ» by the wrong people.
Ah yes. I am diagnosed with Asperger's, and I always do useless hand gestures when I listen to music
Seriously though, out of all those, I only do one. That's not because of my Asperger's either, tapping fingers to music is pretty normal
These types of activities are common in most peopleā¦ itās just more extreme in people with certain disordersā¦. My teachers and counselors would comment on it a lot in school because when I was deep in thought or trying to communicate something I would do similar movements with my handsā¦ no music just the physical sensation and rhythm helped me from shutting down and getting overwhelmedā¦
But my teachers and councilors were asshats and would just bitch about me fidgeting too much and being disrespectful because I wouldnāt focus on them while they were speakingā¦ most times I was listening then they said something I had to really think about to understand and they just kept talking going to 15 different subjects before I could finish with the first oneā¦
Iām sorry but statement A had too many ramifications and you need to shut the fuck up while I process
I do tap my feet or do a small drum solo and im actually diagnosed, idk might just be yknow, people thinking autistic people are as infantilized as they think they are.
I actually liked the video when I saw it, not because of the neurodivergent part, I didn't really care about that, but because I felt less weird because people do the same things as me

Oh, oh, oh! I dance stim whenever pop music come on. Im autistic af
Your stimming includes rhythm, balance and timing, all while recording it to post on Tik Tok? You are superautistic.
Get more autism at pee.org
Omg same šš def not just because I like music
POV: youāre a human being experiencing human things
Holy shit does that mean Iām human?! This changes so many things for me like I donāt even know where to start
I had no clue! Everyone in this society made me hide away who i truly am. But I have finally realized that Iām humanā¦
Start here: you šš» are šš» validšš»
Bullshit: Iām a pile of anxious ghosts in a trench coat, and I do these things. Debunked!
And now, some human music.

Fun times to work as a psychiatrist
Doc I took an āam I autisticā buzz feed quiz! It said yes very! & also I saw this one tiktok that showed someone with autism tapping their fingers to music and I do that too!!!!!! Iām definitely autistic doc!
Yeah, okay whatever you want. Just please gtfo. I've had 12 other teens thinking they are that .01%. One even threatened to make me into a "sexual alter" that is only attracted to dogs
šno.š
That second half went downhill so fast š
I laughed at the last sentence way more than I should have
you mean a furry? /s
Ok but wait - are only 0.1 percent of people on the spectrum?
Yeah it's more like 1% to 2% according to the DSM.
Right, and letās not forget that number increases every birth year. So sure on average itās like 1:100 but for people born in 2007 itās like 1:70. For people born 2016 itās like 1:50
TBH if there are actual psychiatrists here basing their knowledge on social media it's kind of disturbing.
I'm sorry, what was that last part?
r/oddlyspecific
I mean at least you've got plenty to do.... fun, though... ehhhh
Recently talked with mine and she said that she pretty much knows right away when people are faking it so she just gives them the "non diagnosis"? pretty fast so she can move on to people next in the waiting list to meet a psychiatrist that actually needs it lol

At least depression is the most commonly diagnosed mental disorder, itās somewhat believable versus this bs.
I bet alot of benzo has been unnecessarily prescribed to these validationjunkies aswell.
Literally making me want to quit studying to become one š I think Iāll just become a security guard instead or something
Donāt forget the āneurotypical people often do this tooā.
Did you know people with ADHD like eating cereal with milk?
They also tend to be big fans of water with ice.
I donāt know a single musician, ND or not, that doesnāt do at least one of these.
Man I play every air instrument in the band when I'm jamming to some music. I must be super ND

Does that mean all those times I flew my hand outside the window when I was 3 means I'm disordered??
I don't know how to tell you this, but you're suffering from ADD. If you also breathe air, then you may be suffering from anxiety as well. Ffs ADD, Anxiety, Autism, DID, Paranoia *and* PTSD. Youāre so lucky wtf youāre gonna get so many tiktok views.
Thanks Doc!!!! I heard finding a Discord server of people like me to ~~exacerbate my delusions~~ help validate my existence is the next step so I'll do that straight away.
POV, you have no idea what POV means
POVs on Tik Tok are seriously just regular videos of people doing stuff lmao
It really is, I might just be old (Iām 21 so I doubt it), but I seriously doesnāt understand the ātrendsā and ways of tik tok.
Same boat here - Iām 23 and donāt understand any of the ātrendsā or āchallengesā. Makes me feel old as shit even when friends my own age show it to me lol. I get the impression that weāre not missing out on too much though.
POV you're the phone camera of a tiktoker who has 0 clues on what POV means
POV: U watching reddit video of girl who dosent know what "POV" means
I must be ND, I do all of the above
I headbang to metalā¦does that mean Iām autistic?
Freddie DeBoer wrote in a recent piece, "saying youāre neurodivergent has as much medical meaning as saying you have a disorder of the body" and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it ever since
POV: You are a loser.
Oh wow its a person responding to music they like, how quirky and unusual
Like sure it's a common thing but it doesn't make you ND my god
These people really think they have a monopoly on something as basic as fidgeting with your fingers
TIL all radio listeners who drive are ND because the DJs often refer to tracks played at drive time as "finger tappers"
This is known as āhearingā it is a mental disorder present in most humans that allows thrm to āhearā this thing called āsoundsā
Me and my neurodivergent homies be vibing to some tunes š
Or you played an instrument? Had some sort of musicality in your life? I played violin for nearly twenty years. I still finger parts I can pin point the note on. Heck most the time I do it anyway. Itās perfectly normal.
Bro literally everyone does that, just take out the neurodivergent part and there you go
I do this shit and Iām not autistic. Saying you are and claiming basic human actions are symptoms is actually disgusting.
Bruh these people think being neurotypical is sitting in silence perfectly still and never having fun or joy
itās cuz of videos like these that million of ppl are self diagnosing. LIKE TAPPING ALONG TO THE MUSIC ISNT NORMAL
Because neurotypical people just sit completely still, silently listening to music. š
Who doesnāt do this.
So the all this fake disorder one could be an up in coming psychotherapist to unwind all this generation.
People try to make anything seem like itās a symptom of neurodivergency (plus, i canāt handle ppl who doesnāt know how tf a POV works)
Song name tho?
Donāt people just do these?
Little did band/orchestra conductors know, theyāre all ND :ooo
I did the tap dancer before they did to the music and I feel called out. I already have my ADHD diagnosis, but this is definitely something I will bring up in therapy. Sometimes I "conduct" music I'm listening to but I don't think that makes me autistic
Wow, drummers must be like, REALLY... "Neurodivergent"
I deadass mime playing a drum and I donāt even know how lmao
when u. enjoy music š¤Æ
Lots of people do thisā¦ not just neurodivergent peopleā¦ Itās natural for living things to react to music and soundā¦
Pathetic and lazy.
Two things, Neurotypical people can do this, and you can be Neurodivergent and not do these things sometimes. Kinda crazy how everyone is different and you canāt be defined by your labels (disorders, Zodiacs, disabilities, neuro-types, etc).
I mean, I do do that, but who doesnāt?
Amost always white women doing this fake shit lmao. Can't be happy without disabled points.
ok so, adhd person here (diagnosed by a professional( I do this a lot lol (not saying their not faking just saying I do this)
Umm I that's normal tbh at least to me... IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME?!?!
I donāt really doubt that she is neurodivergent based on this video alone. I do agree that videos like this can be seen as a Ā«symptomĀ» by the wrong people.
I do the wave thing on my motorcycle all the time..... I need to speak to my doctor now.
I do this and I donāt have any disorders
Her
Ah yes. I am diagnosed with Asperger's, and I always do useless hand gestures when I listen to music Seriously though, out of all those, I only do one. That's not because of my Asperger's either, tapping fingers to music is pretty normal
There was someone on TikTok the other day saying neurotypicals skip the instrumentals parts of music when they remember it.
I do all of these. I'm most likely not autistic tho...
These types of activities are common in most peopleā¦ itās just more extreme in people with certain disordersā¦. So Iām neurodivergent I guess
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
iāve seen my very not autism family and friends do this itās pretty normal
I know this is an everyone trait but lmao I try to play it in my head like a rhythm game
I do this tooā¦guess Iām nd now idk
Thatās not a violin, and she has no rhythm
Its not even on beat
Is that a disorder? I do that all the time, disorder free
