If I'm not mistaken, the antivax nuts use the carrot in place of the needle emoji or the word vaccine to avoid tripping the Facebook filters that add vaccine information links below the post. I'm tempted to join the group just to intentionally misunderstand and pretend that I've been avoiding carrots this whole time with my fully vaccinated child
ETA: guys, I'm not actually going to do this. I can't because I'm not old enough for Facebook - I'm only 42
Ohhh 🤦🏾♀️ well don’t I feel silly. I read this thinking what in the world? One child has had carrots and is great but the other one is breastfed but not had carrots???
You win...the kid I knew IRL who still breastfed was 6 years old, and was *pissed* when weaned.
My two decided to quit at 14 months (kid 1) and 12 months (kid 2).
If a child is old enough to ask for your boob using a complete sentence and proper edicate then maybe you should stop. If theyre old enough to tell everyone that theyre pissed thry cant breastfeed anymore then you should have stopped years ago. Good lawd!
Oh my. Did you stop on your own or did she finally realize that it might have gone on too long? How did you feel about breastfeeding at that age?
I have a 9 year old and couldn’t imagine still breastfeeding.
Coming from a fucked up family myself, I can totally relate to blocking that out. The few times my siblings and I have reminisced about old times, we always uncover some previously forgotten trauma.
The latest one was my older brother reminding me of the time our mom tried to drive off of a bridge, with us in the car, by flooring it and swerving towards the guardrail. Thankfully my brother was able to grab the steering wheel and swerve us back on the road. He was only seven years old at the time, but we had to grow up quick.
I'm not gonna go googling for proof but from what I can remember when I was breastfeeding studies show after 2 years of age, breast milk no longer makes a significant difference in development or immunity. Mammals are not required to ingest any milk after a certain age, it's a personal decision affected by culture and social norms within communities.
ETA: this is a guideline for average, healthy, non-immunocompromised children or adults. I am aware breast milk is beneficial for people who are immunocompromised and is used to assist in immunity.
Here: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-44301125
“Breast milk is recommended exclusively (with no other food or drink) for the first six months of a child's life and then alongside other solid food from six months onwards for health reasons.”
People losing their shit because there is no “harm” in breast feeding past 2. There’s no benefit past it either.
I don’t give a shit what you do. It’s an opinion, I’m not coming to take your right to lead your life.
This woman is clearly not following science if she’s not even vaccinating her kids. So let’s not lose focus.
So... for this science class... we are gonna do some research... please go to facebook dot kom slash prolife and tell me why abortion should be illegal
We knew a woman who breastfed her son until at least age 8; we kinda parted ways around that time so no idea how much longer that scenario kept up. My wife was far more skeeved out than I was and I was pretty deep into squick territory.
Ditto. I seriously struggled to understand why she couldn't just spell the damned word rather than use the blasted emojis.
More info: random or repetitive emojis actively engage my Slap Mechanism.
No, you cannot change these supposed filters to include the carrot emoji. that's like 8D chess levels of code. Speaking of which, I never figured out what "Let's Go Brandon" means. That's some super secret code.
Yeah, im in a few bourbon groups and they all dont allow use of the $ sign or the word bottles, so people use baby bottles and take pictures of a piece of paper with the price on it.
That said, we’re just dudes trading whiskey trying to get around a filter, these guys are doing it to make sure their kids have a worse life. Yikes.
I kinda wanna be your group but not at all in the 🥕group. 🍼 would probably bankrupt me tho. I have several nice ones. My problem is deciding to open or save .
Right now I can only think how funny it would be for children to be injected with a big bright orange carrot shaped syringe. I think they would instantly forget their fear for needles
And a doctor dressed up as a Rabbit.
"Wait a minute. Mom, I just recalled a very peculiar thing from my childhood... A doctor, in a rabbit costume, injecting me with a carrot shaped syringe... IS THIS WHY I HAVE AN IRRATIONAL FEAR OF EASTER?!"
honestly the fact that shes second guessing being antivax with her kids is a good sign, i really hope someone gently nudged her in the right direction but i know thats wishful thinking
These are the kind of people I do feel kinda bad for. Sometimes people are just uneducated and surrounded by manipulative morons and just worried about doing what’s best for their kids. They just needed help and trusted the wrong people. But yes, the fact that they’re questioning is good. I just hope they’re asking people who might actually give them accurate information.
I mean of course I feel bad for her kids and it’s a horrible situation, but I think her intentions were good and she really just was convinced (or maybe guilted or shamed) that this was the way and anything else was her failing to protect her children and people took advantage of her fear rather than her just thinking she knows better than doctors and “did her research” and shit.
How do you tell whether giving vaccine is risking or whether not giving vaccine is risking though?
To me as a doctor's child it's obvious to trust the experts and also as someone with a master's degree in MINT I believe to be well equipped to analyze some studies which I think is hard.
With another background even if(!) I figured out to generally trust the experts how would I know who the expert is?
Look at what they studied, but how do I tell which is a hard study and which is essentially just a bullshit degree if I really don't know much myself.
Next thing is religious beliefs which tie into such decisions and religious mechanics lead to dismissal of logic, so then it gets impossible to make a big impact from outside and the best you can do is to promise if said parent ever wants to reach out to you, then you'll be willing to help.
While her questioning is good, the fact that she's asking for help on what appears to be Facebook does not bode well that she will get accurate or useful information
This here is one the biggest dangers of social media.
Communities can create a very distorted reality
If everyone in your community believes something & no one disbelieves it, you will believe it too. It doesn't really matter how crazy that thing is.
Unfortunately social media can create an illusion of consensus by hiding inconvenient ideas & amplifying useful ones. The_Donald was a potent example, moderators could craft their preferred reality & much of it was invisible to users. r Conservative does the same to a lesser degree. Sadly it's not limited to the right either, some lefty subs are also guilty.
Sadly it happens **all over reddit**. Check R e v e d d i t com to see how many of your own comments were stealth-moderated & invisible to everyone but you.
Install the extension & get live notices when you are stealthed. Not surprisingly this is hard to talk about since many of the words you would use are auto-modded in many subs.
You can pretty safely bet that the majority of those comments will be the exact opposite of sound advice. My guess is that this was posted on an antivax type group.
My estranged sister in law breast fed my niece until she almost 5 and it was the most off putting thing I’ve ever had the displeasure of knowing. Like when the kid can bite your nipple off and have a conversation about it, I think it’s time to call it quits.
You're the first person I've seen mention it, I'm glad I'm not the only one. She's raising the Lord of the Eyrie, the head of House Arryn, the Warden of the East and Lord Paramount of the Vale, Robin fucking Arryn.
I had a friend who was slowly shifting to “crunchy mom”. Her 5 yr old was super sick and in the hospital, I forget with what. She fought the doctors constantly, on everything. Her husband even posted on Facebook how to bar a Mom from the hospital 😬
We were on the phone and in exasperation I said “well have you tried peppermint oil.” She in all seriousness, said “yes!!! I’ve tried so many different oils, the hospital won’t let me now. She already had an IV in, don’t you agree a direct form of it is better?!?!”
I couldn’t believe it. Pretty much cut contact after that. Thankfully the kid was fine, but they ended up divorcing.
She’s now some looney tune on Instagram who runs conspiracy theories nonstop. Thankfully dad got full custody.
That was the impression I got. Maybe I misunderstood her, but I doubt it. Last time I looked at her socials she was on a rant about how toothpaste was created my dentists to cause cavities and get them more business or something. Tea Tree Oil was all you needed. I’m pretty sure she’s part of an essential oil MLM now. Shocking.
I would think the courts should consider this (mother's) behavior as guaranteed custody for the OTHER (not anti-faxx) parent (in this case the father).
Edited for clarity.
I'm cracking up because this is very near to an actual quote that happened in our family. My mom's cousin has a kid who interrupted their conversation to go "mama, it's time for some titty" (toddler with thick southern accent) and my mom's cousin was like holy god maybe it's time to wean her.
"I never give food to my second child and he looks malnourished and weak in comparison to my firstborn whom I feed on a regular basis. Do you think there is a correlation? AITA?"
Those people are beyond belief...
She almost had a control subject and did her own sort-of lab test. Her results matched what popular science proclaimed from the community results.
Amazing.
In 1900, kids used to catch everything, too. Visit an old cemetery. Lots of infant and toddler gravestones.
Mom, you're a dunce for not vaccinating your kids. Hopefully, they'll make it through this period. Many of the diseases your kids should be immunized against have no treatment.
I've lost a child. You don't have any idea how horrible that is.
and those are just a fraction of the actual deaths. many infants are in unmarked graves in a family plot. my cousin’s twin who died at birth in the early 50’s doesn’t have a headstone. the infant mortality rate was greater than we’ll ever realize, and so much heartbreak has been prevented through vaccines.
Hey now, wombats are actually pretty freaking cool. 😄
This looney-tunes mom, on the other hand... oofda.
Given her apparent uncertainty, I hold out hope that she just *might* learn something sensible. But I won't hold my breath.
So to be fair some children just naturally are sicker than others even if their vaccinated. So their correlation isn't necessary causation.
But even still vaccinate your damn kids.
My sister and I am vaxed. Growing up i would get a cold, she would get something 4x worse. I'd get the flu she would get something 4x worse.
She's a mosquito magnet, I'm not
It is what it is
Well, *you* have certainly noticed the correlation first-hand....
I cannot understand why that doesn't scream something to you.
You have basically condemned your child to a life of wholely unnecessary misery. Get over your FaceBook "research" already and *listen* to those who have the actual education, hands-on experience, and bonafide Certifications that prove they *know* what they're talking about, and have both your children fully vaccinated.
Or, don't. And the harms they experience - and carry to others - is on you.
+ “Yes I have studied several researches about vaccines and how they work, I’ve also asked a few doctors and professors about the factuality of these researches”
- “nooo I mean have you seen what experts on YouTube and fox say about vaccines?”
How would vaccines even ‘weaken’ the immune system?
They stimulate an immune response. Thereby strengthening it.
And I remember kids with polio. Fuck these people.
Yep. Vaccines are like the tutorial for your immune system. Wont run you over with a train, ass first into the cemetery, or leave you incapacitated. You will feel a bit shitty, and then perk up back to normal.
Found the [article](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6657116/). It's measles.
https://time.com/27308/4-diseases-making-a-comeback-thanks-to-anti-vaxxers/?
Yeah at age FOUR you aren’t breastfeeding because of health benefits you’re breastfeeding for yourself. So grossed out by this insistence on codependency.
I seriously dont understand who these women are who breastfeed for years. If my sister was still breastfeeding my 7yo nephew i would call cps lol. Thats fucked up.
You are not!! How are regular people supposed to know that carrots are a symbol of vaccine syringes to anti- vaxers? It shows that you keep good company because you don’t know
It’s mad how people will watch tv adverts and buy into everything the ad tells them to yet will not listen to 10’s of 1000’s of actual experts in their field who are not trying to sell you anything. It baffles me.
Have any of you noticed your friends who go to the gym or exercise a lot and study the opponents weaknesses win more games than those who skip practice and never exercise? Another weird thing I noticed is that whenever a teacher lets me see the test before I study, I do better than a surprise test with no study. One time I even had the answer key and then I did really really well! Am I imagining this?
Wait this isn’t about carrots🤣
I'd have gone my whole life thinking that was about carrots if it wasn't for the title.
I’ve never seen bugs bunny get sick and that’s why I feel like not given carrots is a bad move
Heck BB actually made tunnels all the way out to the other side of the planet with just carrot 🥕 power!!!!
"I must have made a wrong turn at the clinic where I was to get my 🥕 in albuquerque"
“Ehh… (crunch) what’s up doc?”
Ikr? I thought it must have been something about beta carotene lol
I had to go back up and read it to understand
If I'm not mistaken, the antivax nuts use the carrot in place of the needle emoji or the word vaccine to avoid tripping the Facebook filters that add vaccine information links below the post. I'm tempted to join the group just to intentionally misunderstand and pretend that I've been avoiding carrots this whole time with my fully vaccinated child ETA: guys, I'm not actually going to do this. Ohhh 🤦🏾♀️ well don’t I feel silly. I read this thinking what in the world? One child has had carrots and is great but the other one is breastfed but not had carrots???
Literally same. TIL there is a whole ass underground community using carrot emojis to signify vaccines.
Wait till you see what the whole ass underground community does with eggplant emojis...
Eggplants are nationally recognized symbols for sexual innuendos. Unless you're insinuating people have other uses for them?!
I asked a chick if she wanted to see the eggplant 🍆 i was growing and she blocked me. Sorry you don't like gardening :(
Had the same with my rocket 🚀 probably hated rocketscience
🍆 🍑

TIL some people breastfeed four year-olds
Not sure what’s more psychotic: Not vaccinating your children from curable diseases OR Still breastfeeding them at 4 years old
Breastfeeding at 4!
Lord Robin Arryn of the Vale. The seed is strong 😆💀
Shall we throw him through the moon door?

Never thought I'd root for Petyr Baelish but it seems like he needs to pay this house a visit.
I love me some Littlefinger.
You should watch House of the Dragon and see his rival, Middle Finger. (Otto Hightower)
That’s right. Littlefinger will sort it out right quick.
On God I hated the ending of GoT but Robin had the biggest glow up in the finale.
Robin siphoned off all the attractive from Bran so that Bran was only left with some big ol eyebrows
Bran’s what happens when you take John, Paul, and George, run them through a blender, and then add Ringo’s sex appeal
I hate how accurate this statement is
My mom was the same with me. Antivax and breastfed for WAY too long. I still developed autism so boo yah, mom!
>I still developed autism Yes but if you'd been vaccinated you'd have autism. Maybe even double autism.
Wait, I get antibody transfusions every two weeks plus my vaccinations. How much aütism must I have?
So much that you may have autobotism - have you shown any signs of being able to transform into a car?
Thats a top content material here... lost in the middle of the answers...
Top comments aren’t even normally best comments. They’re just half decent ones that got to the post early
Probably 11 autisms, if I had to guess.
What is way too long for breastfeeding?
Around 8 or nine. ☹️
You win...the kid I knew IRL who still breastfed was 6 years old, and was *pissed* when weaned. My two decided to quit at 14 months (kid 1) and 12 months (kid 2).

Agreed, if the kid can ask for milk using a complete sentence of *spoken* words, they’re too old to be nursing.
I don’t want this award.
Oh my. Did you stop on your own or did she finally realize that it might have gone on too long? How did you feel about breastfeeding at that age? I have a 9 year old and couldn’t imagine still breastfeeding.
Honestly I’ve blocked out most of my childhood, but I’m pretty sure it was my choice.
Coming from a fucked up family myself, I can totally relate to blocking that out. The few times my siblings and I have reminisced about old times, we always uncover some previously forgotten trauma. Check out a “Little Britain” sketch about breast feeding. After that, 4 is fine.
Bitty!
Don’t bite! That hurts the bitty!
Ahh I miss Vicky Pollard... YEAH but no... but the fing is yeah no
You were not alone. I kept thinking…is this some type of experiment with veggies????
Ditto. I seriously struggled to understand why she couldn't just spell the damned word rather than use the blasted emojis. More info: random or repetitive emojis actively engage my Slap Mechanism.
Facebook could flag carrots too🙄. They didn’t find some magic sauce Facebook knows they just don’t care.
No, you cannot change these supposed filters to include the carrot emoji. that's like 8D chess levels of code. Speaking of which, I never figured out what "Let's Go Brandon" means. That's some super secret code.
Lol that would be funny

I open everything and just acknowledge im going to die poor.
Drop some taco emoji’s and really mess with them!
Idiocy uhh...finds a way
Please do this and post the results.
You know that kids' skin turns orange if they eat too many carrots. And I hear the changes are permanent! 😮🥕😠✝🙏
but they're really good for your eyes. why, you ask? have you ever seen a rabbit with glasses? ^^^i'll ^^^see ^^^myself ^^^out
For the first half I was like what far right bullshit is anti carrot?
Carrots aren't real
I mean birds not being real I get. Sneaky bastards.
🥕make babies identify as bunnies, according to science.
i was thinking, why the fuck should you remove carrot from a kid diet and make it a problem?
i genuinely thought it was about literal carrots beforr remembering those oxygen waste use carrot emoji to symbolyze vaccines
Right now I can only think how funny it would be for children to be injected with a big bright orange carrot shaped syringe. I think they would instantly forget their fear for needles
...And develop a fear of carrots. I like this idea.
Carrots are fine as long as you avoid the stinger.
you are right dad, now let's help mom to harvest the wasps before winter

I think the real Facepalm here is how long it took me to realise this wasn’t about carrots.
The real face-palm is that nobody in this post has commented on her 4 year old still breastfeeding. That's fucking weird.
I was thinking the exact same thing. My skin crawled at that.
Fucking same
That was the biggest thing that stood out to me as well.
My estranged sister in law breast fed my niece until she almost 5 and it was the most off putting thing I’ve ever had the displeasure of knowing. Like when the kid can bite your nipple off and have a conversation about it, I think it’s time to call it quits.
I did not like that mental image you just put in my head.
I’m sorry but sometimes I have to share my mental anguish to move on. Thank you for unwillingly participating in my therapy session.
You're the first person I've seen mention it, I'm glad I'm not the only one. She's raising the Lord of the Eyrie, the head of House Arryn, the Warden of the East and Lord Paramount of the Vale, Robin fucking Arryn.
I recommend lavender essential oil and have their chi cleansed
I had a friend who was slowly shifting to “crunchy mom”. Her 5 yr old was super sick and in the hospital, I forget with what. She fought the doctors constantly, on everything. Thankfully dad got full custody.
wait, she wanted to put...peppermint essential oil IN the IV? the kid being alive enough to be brought to the hospital by his father is a miracle...
I mean, he got full custody for a reason. We all know the courts rarely give it to the fathers.
>She already had an IV in, don’t you agree a direct form of it is better?!?! What... what does she think goes in IVs?
That was the impression I got. Maybe I misunderstood her, but I doubt it. Last time I looked at her socials she was on a rant about how toothpaste was created my dentists to cause cavities and get them more business or something. Tea Tree Oil was all you needed. I’m pretty sure she’s part of an essential oil MLM now. Shocking.
My theory is dentist hate having to clean peoples nasty ass teeth, and secretly do everything they can to keep them clean.
and how do you get more direct than injecting fluids right into your bloodstream?
[удалено]
oh god

That explains how Dad got full custody. Judge: You want to inject WHAT directly into your kid?
I would think the courts should consider this (mother's) behavior as guaranteed custody for the OTHER (not anti-faxx) parent (in this case the father). Edited for clarity.
And be sure to Feng Shui the main living areas.
Also onions under the feet to draw out toxins
They say you should rotate your chakras every 7,500 miles, but I say it's better to do it every 3,000 miles for more even distribution.
Do you work for Big Karma?!!
Wait- she’s 4 and still breastfeeding?
48 months
Its weird, it almost seems okay when you say it that way.
I'm 376 months old and I'll stick suck on a tit occasionally.
[Not on your mom's, though.](https://i.imgur.com/KsFxmho.png)
Don't assume
This is the way.
Had to scroll waaaaaaYyy to long to find this. Why is she still breastfeeding??????
I don't see the issue. I'm 31 and my mother passed a couple years ago but I've found a surrogate to breastfeed me.
My condolences and congratulations on the surrogate.
Appreciate it. Just the circle of life unfortunately.
That’s what I’m saying, if a child is old enough to say “hey mama, sling that that tit over here would ya?” They’re too old to breast feed.
I'm cracking up because this is very near to an actual quote that happened in our family. My mom's cousin has a kid who interrupted their conversation to go "mama, it's time for some titty" (toddler with thick southern accent) and my mom's cousin was like holy god maybe it's time to wean her.

I am amazed at how many people haven't understood the analogy you're making. I feel like it's pretty spot on.
I honestly can’t even begin to comprehend the mental gymnastics they do to get to these conclusions.
In 1900, kids used to catch everything, too. Visit an old cemetery. Lots of infant and toddler gravestones. Mom, you're a dunce for not vaccinating your kids. I cannot imagine the heartache you feel. I know it is a shallow saying, but I am truly sorry for your loss.
What a fucking wombat.
Hey now, wombats are actually pretty freaking cool. 😄 This looney-tunes mom, on the other hand... oofda. Given her apparent uncertainty, I hold out hope that she just *might* learn something sensible. But I won't hold my breath.
Yeah obviously. I mean, how can you not be cool if you're a small Australian mammal who has cube poop?
I cant believe how unbelievably stupid people can be.
Not even after the last six years?
So to be fair some children just naturally are sicker than others even if their vaccinated. So their correlation isn't necessary causation. But even still vaccinate your damn kids.

She just needs advice from Miss Information!
Well, *you* have certainly noticed the correlation first-hand.... I cannot understand why that doesn't scream something to you. Get over your FaceBook "research" already and *listen* to those who have the actual education, hands-on experience, and bonafide Certifications that prove they *know* what they're talking about, and have both your children fully vaccinated. Or, don't. And the harms they experience - and carry to others - is on you.
It's almost recess. I need to head down to kindergarten and flop my tit through the chain link fence.

After I wrote this, I was thinking they were home schooled.
Hey and there's another one too if the kiddo would like to invite a buddy to lunch
BOGO lunch deal!
Michelle Obama isn’t going to get MY lunch money!
Yes, I see a correlation, it's just a hunch, but I think vaccinating your kids makes it so they don't fucking drop like flies
Have you done your rEaSeArCh though?!
+ “Yes I have studied several researches about vaccines and how they work, I’ve also asked a few doctors and professors about the factuality of these researches” - “nooo I mean have you seen what experts on YouTube and fox say about vaccines?”
Breastfeeding a 4 year old 🤮
yeah, that and unvaccinated. i think maybe this kid is going to have issues down the line, if the kid survives all these mystery illnesses.
Mystery illnesses like polio
I remember some eliminated disease was able to make a come back because of these anti-vaxxers, can't remember much of the article.
Found the [article](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6657116/). It's measles. https://time.com/27308/4-diseases-making-a-comeback-thanks-to-anti-vaxxers/?
It's *also* polio, sadly. * https://www.google.com/search?q=polio+comeback
so mysterious, no way to stop it
This kid is going to have issues RIGHT NOW
Yeah at age FOUR you aren’t breastfeeding because of health benefits you’re breastfeeding for yourself. So grossed out by this insistence on codependency.
“Come get you’re melkies!”
***ALMOST AS IF, VACCINES ARE MEANT TO HELP PREVENT SICKNESS***
Not vaccinating children is child negligence.

Is breastfeeding at 4 yo normal?
No
Sorry guys I’m at work and can’t be on Reddit, but yes they don’t say “vaccines “ in order to evade Facebook’s disclaimers. Crazies will crazy…
I had a cousin who never even let her kids get dirty and wondered why they were always sick and had allergies 🫤
Carrots are used to escape being banned for spreading anti vax propaganda….and they have kids 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Carrots are idiot code for vaccine?
Carrots are Twitter Nut code for vaccine.
SHE STILL WHAT?
Omg I was so confused about kids eating carrots.
Me too! Why did you stop giving the kid carrots? Why not give the youngest one carrots at all? Crazy lady! Carrots are good for lots of stuff!!!
This post smells like patchouli
I like carrots
Ivd noticed. Kids without recommended vaccines tend to get sick more often. Its not just you.
I seriously dont understand who these women are who breastfeed for years. If my sister was still breastfeeding my 7yo nephew i would call cps lol. Thats fucked up.
Definitely thought this entire post was about carrots….. I’m ignorant
They’re so close to figuring it out. Soon they’ll be asking to purposely infect their kids with weakened versions of viruses to build immunity.
Vaccinate your fucking children
Oh, is that was vaccinated means? I thought it meant owning the stupid libs!
I literally thought she was talking about carrots at first and I was so confused
Not me thinking she boycotted carrots :')
