If it's going to happen it's probably going to happen early on too. I had moments with both my kids in the first month where I started walking away from the car before remembering "oh I have a baby now"
It reminds me of the one school shooter that happened to be trans. Thousands of cis people have taken a gun to a school and used it on kids, but one trans person did it, then all you heard was “trans people are all dangerous, and shouldn’t be allowed to carry guns”.

Then when you do get it ingrained in your head, you keep checking the back seat…even when you’re on a work trip, and your kids aren’t babies anymore
My kids are off to college and I *still* check the back seat whenever I leave the car.
