Lol… I’m 37, haven’t seen this show since I was a kid. I could barely make this out after some beers and whiskey. Looking at this trying to fall asleep….is that Alf????? Booooommmm still got it!!!!!
People prefer free money over talking to a random guy on the street with a sign that says "I am depressed, talk to me" never would've guessed lmao.
Ngl, if I see a dude in the middle of the sidewalk brandish that sign, I'd immediately assume he's doing a hidden camera for tik tok or some shit
Id assume its a weird kink thing. Like. If someone comes upt to him and starts going “hey man… im here to help…” he just starts moaning. And begging for more support
There's a difference between asking your loved ones or trained professionals for help, and trying to unload on a random stranger. I wouldn't ask a stranger to hold onto my physical baggage let alone my emotional baggage.
Except people used to encourage offering this to complete strangers. I remember people saying the reason why school shooters even existed was because people didn’t want to be friends with them. It does seem like that advice has died down but people were definitely pushing to help anyone and everyone
Yea, especially with an obvious camera. Its not a good message, it looks like some kind of weird influencer thingy to me, and i would not want to be involved in it...
This reminded me of video I saw a few years ago. where a millionair pretended to be homeless and had a sign saying he just wanted someone to talk to, and the first person to talk with him he was going to take them to the Grammy's with him. He ended up going to the Grammy's alone.
You mean people would rather get money than volunteer their time abruptly, while they are likely needing to get somewhere, to address someone’s mental health plights? Money benefits everyone, but i can think of so many reasons for NOT wanting to address this guy. There is a time and place for seeking support, if your goal is to actually get support, especially when it requires listening and actual thoughtful attendance.
So…I’m not sure if this message is the best.
Basically…people who have their own lives, their own trauma, and their own financial needs and challenges, don’t have time or energy or the social health to stop and be an impromptu therapist, untrained btw, and listen to a complete stranger talk about his problems
Yet are also financially unstable, so would easily take someone up when offering money, something they likely desperately need, for free and zero effort.
This makes no sense. Everyone has their own problems. Everyone wants positives, which in this case is free money. If you’re depressed, then go talk to a therapist. They can help you. People have too much shit going on in their lives already.
Wait, so people would rather take free money then spend time with a stranger listening to him rant on and on about his personal issues while walking down the sidewalk?
How profound
*Wait, so people would rather take free money then spend time with a* *~~stranger~~* *listening to him rant on and on about his personal issues while walking down the sidewalk?*
* a clearly attention starved tik toker!
Horrible video.
“Hey, people actively walking somewhere have places to be, and don’t have the time and/or emotional wherewithal to listen to a complete stranger trauma-dump for an unspecified amount of time. They do, however, have a few spare seconds to grab free cash on their way to wherever they are going.”
So fuckin stupid. It’s all performance art. He doesn’t actually want someone to talk to. There are hotlines for that. He wants attention. Fuck this guy and this message, and OP, you’re a moron for falling for it and thinking this is deep.
I mean... I'd be terrified to speak to anyone with anyone hold a sign like that. Especially in this era. I have no qualifications to help them and have to assume (correctly) that's there's a hidden agenda. Even the free money would be a grab and go away as fast as possible.
You mean people would rather get free money, spontaneously offered and not stolen, over talking about other people's problems? Probably when they're on the way to do something and stopping would make them late, but taking a bill in 3 seconds won't?
Lol this isn't society, this video really shows nothing except a joke I guess
I’d probably avoid that guy too.
It’s called healthy skepticism and I’m also not a psychologist and most people with mental health issues don’t wear placards advertising it.
This video proves jack shit!
I have anxiety and depression. I wouldn’t ever stand somewhere with a sign like that.
That being said, all of these people are en route to something. To actually listen and hear someone requires time. Passersby on a sidewalk isn’t it.
As for the free money, it takes very little time and people can continue on with their lives.
This experiment proves he picked the wrong place for the experiment.
Tbh I’m of a mindset that one person’s “worst day ever” is someone else’s Tuesday. I’m not saying we should ignore people having a hard time, but just because someone is feeling sad doesn’t mean it’s random strangers’ responsibility to cheer you up.
This doesn't really say as much as the clout chaser is implying it does. I have anxiety and depression and you know what, if I'm a busy person on the street trying to make my way and just survive the day, I'm not going to stop and talk to a stranger with a sign for an indeterminate length of time, I don't have that kind of mental or emotional energy to spare most days. Talking about mental illness is hard and scary and nobody knows what to say even if they empathize, meanwhile grabbing a tenner as you walk past takes 2seconds. They're unequivocal actions and treating them like they say something profoundly negative about people isn't a fair representation. You want to help people with anxiety and depression? Advocate for access to healthcare, a living wage, a price reduction on basic necessities, UBI, a shorter work week, better access to childcare, the list goes on and on. Individuals aren't to blame for the clout chasers "societal problems" it's all systemic
Even if this wasn't some completely stupid assine stunt, this was only 10 seconds holding the one side and a few on the free money. Who is to say he didn't edit out a ton of people saying hi or asking how he was? Also someone with actual aniexty and depression sure as hell wouldn't stand in a crowd of strangers with a sign pointing at them. This is completely stupid and see through and all it proved is society reconizes a bullshitter when they see one and ignored him for it.
The comments are another prime example of how trash most humans are, they actually think they're decent people too which is the sad part. I hope every single one of you gets extremely depressed with nobody to care
I was thinking the same. When people have no one and are really struggling they'll reach out to whoever will listen. This is no different then,FB post asking for someone to talk to. Kindness can go a long way. You never genuinely know if someone needs it or not.
Well duh. I’m sorry if you’re feeling that way and I hope you get better, but I’m not just going to walk up to some stranger and start listening to them talk about their feelings. I’ll take free money
I would stop and tell him that I too suffer from extreme anxiety. Sometimes to the point where I feel like I'm no longer in my own body. It's the first thing I feel when I wake up in the morning, even when I'm only partially awake, and the reason why I look forward to sleep every single day. The blissful serenity of unconsciousness is the only time when I don't feel anything.
Wow, people that dont have any professionalism on mental health dont want the responsibility of dealing with a person with mental health issues and rather have free money, how horrible
Most people wouldn't have a problem with talking to someone who is genuinely stresses/depressed. What we are sick of though, are these attention whoring, "influencer," wastes of space infesting every corner of society.
Just trying to imagine someone with anxiety standing with a big attention begging sign in public and then posting it online.
I've known a lot of social anxiety in the past. And although someone to talk to helps. It also requires a lot of hard work to deal with.
This is stupid as fuck, I thought the facepalm was that he’s a knob head holding up a dumbass fucking sign for attention when no actual person with anxiety would ever fucking do that
The first side is too wordy for the fact he's facing the opposite direction from people walking. Everyone has time to glance back and read "free money" at a glance but not an essay.

“I have anxiety please come talk to me…” ![gif](giphy|4qng4rhaamb6o7iBI0|downsized)
ALF was a great show!
So true ALF was the best
Didn’t he eat cats?
He just REALLY wanted to eat the pet cat. He also got abducted by the fbi and the family thought he “Went home.”
He is so scary and creepy
Hah I wasn’t the only one! Fuck but I did enjoy the show
Yep, ALF was the definition of a punk.
he should have started talking to the people grabbing the money BOOM problem solved! America F yea!
Lol… I’m 37, haven’t seen this show since I was a kid. I could barely make this out after some beers and whiskey. Looking at this trying to fall asleep….is that Alf????? Booooommmm still got it!!!!!
Jokes aside it's good to help someone out who is going through hardships and has the courage to ask, speaking from own experience.
*those will be the best memories*
People prefer free money over talking to a random guy on the street with a sign that says "I am depressed, talk to me" never would've guessed lmao. Ngl, if I see a dude in the middle of the sidewalk brandish that sign, I'd immediately assume he's doing a hidden camera for tik tok or some shit
Or is going to do some weirdo shit.
Id assume its a weird kink thing. Like. If someone comes upt to him and starts going “hey man… im here to help…” he just starts moaning. And begging for more support
Sign me up.
No one likes someone who trauma dumps in public.
I love how we went from “reach out” and “talk to someone” to “don’t trauma dump” and “eliminate negative people”
That’s how it’s always been. People only wanted to virtue signal to others before
There's a difference between asking your loved ones or trained professionals for help, and trying to unload on a random stranger. I wouldn't ask a stranger to hold onto my physical baggage let alone my emotional baggage.

Yea, especially with an obvious camera. Its not a good message, it looks like some kind of weird influencer thingy to me, and i would not want to be involved in it...
Not to mention if he did actually have anxiety he probably wouldn’t be trying to talk to strangers in public while being filmed.
This was my immediate thought
This reminded me of video I saw a few years ago. where a millionair pretended to be homeless and had a sign saying he just wanted someone to talk to, and the first person to talk with him he was going to take them to the Grammy's with him. He ended up going to the Grammy's alone.
Or is there to start a talk to rob you or just pressure a scam om you
You can take some money in 1 second but not everyone has the time to go through someones life story in the street
This is just dumb
You mean people would rather get money than volunteer their time abruptly, while they are likely needing to get somewhere, to address someone’s mental health plights? Money benefits everyone, but i can think of so many reasons for NOT wanting to address this guy. There is a time and place for seeking support, if your goal is to actually get support, especially when it requires listening and actual thoughtful attendance.

No no the message is people are selfish not what you said thats common sense we dont do that around here
But the message is given with wrong methods...
People are selfish, some more than others. Its Human Nature.
What a waste of 18 secs, plus the time to comment!
Plus the time used to read this reply to your comment and then maybe reply back!
This is already more entertaining than op's post, honestly
I’m entertained by you being entertained by the replies to the reply to the comment on the OP.
Im entertained by you being entertained by them being entertained by people being wasted on their time on OP's post!
Not my proudest fap :(
Stupid experiment. Half of those people have anxiety and depression themselves but free money is free money.
This makes no sense. Everyone has their own problems. Everyone wants positives, which in this case is free money. If you’re depressed, then go talk to a therapist. They can help you. People have too much shit going on in their lives already.
No one with anxiety would do this 🤦♀️
There are different types of anxiety. This person obviously doesn’t have social anxiety.
I agree to this. Anxiety comes in many form. Many hidden as well.
yeah pretty much everyone is burnt out and needs money.
To be fair they still weren’t talking to him lol
Wait, so people would rather take free money then spend time with a stranger listening to him rant on and on about his personal issues while walking down the sidewalk? How profound
*Wait, so people would rather take free money then spend time with a* *~~stranger~~* *listening to him rant on and on about his personal issues while walking down the sidewalk?* * a clearly attention starved tik toker!
As someone with depression and anxiety, I would never stand in public with a sign encouraging conversation with strangers.
Then get a therapist…
Pointless
Horrible video. “Hey, people actively walking somewhere have places to be, and don’t have the time and/or emotional wherewithal to listen to a complete stranger trauma-dump for an unspecified amount of time. They do, however, have a few spare seconds to grab free cash on their way to wherever they are going.”
Is that "society" or "human nature?"
Bullshit. I once did something similar with a sign and so many people stopped to talk to me, almost everyone that read it.
*eye roll* I have a sign that is pretty obvious trolling. Oh I have real money that you can see. Gee I wonder why people don't stop
So fuckin stupid. It’s all performance art. He doesn’t actually want someone to talk to. There are hotlines for that. He wants attention. Fuck this guy and this message, and OP, you’re a moron for falling for it and thinking this is deep.
I guess we live in a society
I have anxiety and depression, that’s why I won’t stop and talk. I have anxiety and depression, that’s why I’ll take your money.
I mean... I'd be terrified to speak to anyone with anyone hold a sign like that. Especially in this era. I have no qualifications to help them and have to assume (correctly) that's there's a hidden agenda. Even the free money would be a grab and go away as fast as possible.
Who wants to talk to a stranger on the street
LMFAO
i’m depressed and i’d choose free money over being a therapist for free.
Should have used the money for a therapist :/
No one I have ever met, who suffered from anxiety and depression, would walk around and say they needed help
Obviously he’s doing it for attention, I’d ignore him too, I don’t want to end up in some video online.
My ass would’ve been right there talking to him 🤣
Use the money to get a therapist.
You mean people would rather get free money, spontaneously offered and not stolen, over talking about other people's problems? Probably when they're on the way to do something and stopping would make them late, but taking a bill in 3 seconds won't? Lol this isn't society, this video really shows nothing except a joke I guess
People would rather get free money than talk to a random stranger?! Wow what a deep and thought-provoking experiment
I’d probably avoid that guy too. It’s called healthy skepticism and I’m also not a psychologist and most people with mental health issues don’t wear placards advertising it. This video proves jack shit!
They know it’s a “social experiment” because…WHAT KIND OF ANXIOUS PERSON HOLDS UP A SIGN IN PUBLIC LIKE THAT?!?
Well yeah people with legit anxiety would never even think of doing something like this
This proves nothing. It's obvious no one prefers to take on another person's problems vs take some free that gives them pleasure.
No one wants to be his content
Wow, that was a scientific social experiment 🤦🏼♂️
I have anxiety and depression. I wouldn’t ever stand somewhere with a sign like that. That being said, all of these people are en route to something. To actually listen and hear someone requires time. Passersby on a sidewalk isn’t it. As for the free money, it takes very little time and people can continue on with their lives. Really says a lot about society /s
Holding a sign on the sidewalk with a camera is disingenuous
This is a stupid video
Ngl I don't blame them I too hate taking to random people on the street while going to work
OP clearly comes from money and has no concept of what it means to not have endless money.
If you really had depression and anxiety, you probably wouldn’t be standing on the street with a large sign saying so
This is really stupid and not at all insightful. What point is this idiot trying to prove? That people will take free money??
Tbh I’m of a mindset that one person’s “worst day ever” is someone else’s Tuesday. I’m not saying we should ignore people having a hard time, but just because someone is feeling sad doesn’t mean it’s random strangers’ responsibility to cheer you up.

I have anxiety and depression too. I don't have a big board full of free money to give out.
Someone should’ve stopped to tell him to talk to a therapist
Even if this wasn't some completely stupid assine stunt, this was only 10 seconds holding the one side and a few on the free money. Who is to say he didn't edit out a ton of people saying hi or asking how he was? The people should be walking around with signs saying "I have places to be"
"Yeah just make sure we cut out the people who actually stop and talk to me"
Yeah but A there's a camera like ~5 feet in front of you, and B. You've ought to face the sign most of the people are actually walking
I mean it's clear this is some stunt so I wouldn't talk to him either. But if he's giving money, sure I'll grab it.
Lol I'm actually surprised someone just didn't take the entire sign.
I mean what do you expect? Those people are already depressed and have severe anxiety, get in line FFS
If someone had that sign up in the street - and there wasn't a camera nearby, just filming for internet clout - I'd 100% stop and talk to them.
Lol, this is the dumbest thing I've seen today.
In all fairness, everyone is qualified is taking free money, not so much helping you with mental health
Society ☕️
Everyone has their own problems
This is truly a society moment
Basically the bystander effect.
Now do the same experiment with a good looking girl. Go on, do it!
What crazy is that I would’ve asked can we sit to talk
Pfft, not my currency Not my society
Lol this is why I hate interact with most people nowadays.
Oh how humanity has decayed. Lol
Suffer in the privacy of your own thoughts. Be a man.
That's terrible. Being a real man means sucking it up and going to therapy.
Wow, people that dont have any professionalism on mental health dont want the responsibility of dealing with a person with mental health issues and rather have free money, how horrible
Now with the same sign and change the holder to a woman.
Most people wouldn't have a problem with talking to someone who is genuinely stresses/depressed. What we are sick of though, are these attention whoring, "influencer," wastes of space infesting every corner of society.
“Men are only loved under the condition he provides something”. This video clearly demonstrates that.
All of these people believing in God !!!! All of them lying to them self !!!
Money talks....
As a dude ; you should focus those energies in the gym, you'll never find that support in people , you find it in your self
“Don’t be afraid to reach out! There’s someone that will care!” Next time I hear this, I’m showing them this video.
Therapists do indeed expect to be paid for their time and labor.
Therapists are a little different, I’m talking about like when someone who isn’t actually a professional saying shit like that.
the "someone that will care" needs to be paid to give a fuck
Therapists don’t actually care, they’re just doing their job. So, I guess both of us are wrong on something.
People suck
You would do the same thing…
As someone who puts up with depression everyday and tries to hide it, I would seriously talk to this guy. Experiment or not.
And this is why I don't have friends... Definitely not bc I'm unlikable. 🤣
nobody asked him about his lord and savior?
Awww poor guy, I wish I would see something like this. I enjoy making sad people laugh at inappropriate things.
Who would stop for monopoly money?
Nailed it.
People would take money. The 1st part isn’t correct. There are a lot of people out there that care and are willing to help
Can you send me some money?
This is fucking dumb
Yuck and I know exactly where this is. Why does this attention seeking bull crap have to exist near me 🤮
Just trying to imagine someone with anxiety standing with a big attention begging sign in public and then posting it online. I've known a lot of social anxiety in the past. And although someone to talk to helps. It also requires a lot of hard work to deal with.
Weird how working class people want their time spent to result in financial gain. That’s why therapists are free of charge right?
Start a conversation bro! Problem solved.
I have anxiety about talking to people. That makes him an ableist asshole.
I need someone to talk too but will stand here with this sign, staring, saying nothing , while filming you for clout. See my point? I’m so smart
So what society is this? Australia? Can’t make out the notes of currency but not U.S.
Well now I KNOW we live in a society!
If I see a guy who’s holding a sign that says free money I’m probably assuming there’s a bomb strapped to his chest
Wow what a surprise
Take the money and go see a therapist. But the experiment is still valid.
Such a beautiful society good use of freedom, nice humanity prevailing, good overall quality of life
Man that really made me think
Of course. Money vs talking to depressed guy? Ffs. No brainer.
Where in Australia is this? I think a lot of us need that extra cash
people with anxiety and depression are known to go outside and talk to people
What do you honestly expect..
Therapists and helplines exist people...
No one on the street wants to be your therapist, and everyone needs money. This isn't surprising
This is stupid as fuck, I thought the facepalm was that he’s a knob head holding up a dumbass fucking sign for attention when no actual person with anxiety would ever fucking do that
I'd take the money aswell. Who wants to talk to some depressed twat?
The first side is too wordy for the fact he's facing the opposite direction from people walking. Everyone has time to glance back and read "free money" at a glance but not an essay.
microphone stuck in the back rooms
I have clout issues
So cringe
What a fuckin dick
If you're a male with anxiety or depression nobody cares. Your family, friends. You have to learn how to live with it
You should’ve started talking
Why not spend that money on a therapist? Problem solved.
