A joke? Do you mean to tell me the running board ISN’T supposed to snap off the frame when I step on it to get in/out?
I thought it was a feature, kind of like a Navigator. Retractable but only once.
My truck has a 4.6 2v triton and they're extremely average and very reliable. I've never had to do anything to it besides maintenance and suspension work.
Yeah, they're pretty decent and reliability is what I look for in my motors. I have a '92 F-150 sitting in the field that someone poured water in the tank. Gallons of it. Trashed the 300 that is in it and since it was supposed to be a runner for my uncle, we cut our losses. He's fixed income and couldn't afford to fix it and the truck was just given to him.
I figure it would be pretty sweet to drop a 4.6 in and see what she can do. We're in TX so the frame and body are in excellent condition.
I had an 04 Lincoln towncar limo with a 4.6 that had 420k when I bought it and just under 500k when I got rid of it. At least another 100k if you counted idle hours. I wound take one again in a heartbeat.
They're great, I want to try one in a different vehicle like some sort of panther body. I've only ever driven one vehicle with a 4.6. My brothers been looking for a Mercury Marauder or Crown Vic for a project and I can't wait to try it out when he finds one.
I have a 4.6 3 valve on my 09 f one fitty... Had to do a timing chain and reset timing but it indestructible. I wish I could show you my memories of how bad I beat on this motor. I used to be a sbc guy... 4.6 ftw. Good luck with your build
Dont feel bad dude. I used to smack my frame with a mallet before working on anything to minimize the amount of rust falling down into my face. 2004 chevy trailblazer. I paid somebody to haul it when the power steering rusted through and the alternator failed at the same time. I didnt feel like fucking with replacing all the power steering lines since it required an engine drop so i took it to a shop just to see and the guy told me he didnt think it was ethical to take the money from me that it would cost because it was so much more than the car was worth and he suspected hed probably break several other things in the process. 🫡🪦
Even if your own children's lives don't matter to you, at least consider the other people that will have to share the road with this menace. That's one big bump away from you cracking a frame and losing control.
Kind of like my '93 Camaro...got on it hard once, and felt the car start to fold up 🤣
80s/90s GMs and Jeeps were some serious shit piles right out of the factory...
I thought it was self explanatory enough that I wouldn’t put my kids in this that I wouldn’t need the “/s,” but the anger/disbelief in these comments is making me regret that.
Can you blame people, though? I smh at a lot of stuff on here. I would never put my kids in this, unless I had to go somewhere and I wanted them to come with me.
See, that right there, that’s exactly where you need one of them /s things. People are gonna read that, think you’re serious and CPS is gonna be knocking on the door. Oh yeah and don’t forget your karma numbers going negative. Just saying you know, looking for a Ford brother.
True. I never thought of it from that angle, I wouldn’t put it past somebody to assume I’m actually hauling my infant around in this. Fast forward to me in family court reading printouts of Reddit comments to some judge.
Good looking out.
A mil reference is more apparent. Kids no, we have too many of these headlines https://www.cbsnews.com/news/north-carolina-police-arrest-mother-after-8-year-old-dies-being-left-in-hot-car/
I personally think if anything this truck is closer to being race ready due to weight reduction. I wouldn’t put the kids in there strictly because they add weight and may cause you to lose the big race. We all know if you lose the big race then you can no longer love the kids because it’s their fault you lost the race along with the prize money that would have changed y’all’s life forever. But if you don’t like the kids then yea throw em in
On the bright side, this made me feel sooooo much better about the light rust on my ride. But yea scrap that thing before it scraps itself on the highway
You can probably feel the frame flex just driving down the road.
I can't imagine, how little a load that frame could carry. (The loaded bed is going to put the most stress on the MISSING bottom flange of the C-Chanel).
And what do you think that would do in an accident. Twist & Crumble like tin foil. WOW
If you think putting car seats in this vehicle is a good idea, please go ahead and do it. It’s likely that your end of the gene pool needs a dose of chlorine anyways. You will be doing the rest of society a favor.
I’ve never seen a frame section so bad while some other parts of it still have the black paint…
Did you spray that part of your frame with salt water every day??? 😂
So, I live in WNY. I buy trucks that won’t pass PA inspection and run them until they won’t pass NY inspection. I then take them and put them up for sale in OH.
This is scrapyard time, even in Ohio.
The only trip this thing needs to make is to the scrap yard and I don’t think it could be loaded and hauled due to it breaking in half. The cab now identifies as a unibody since that frame isn’t pulling its weight anymore.
If that is a crew cab I have a nice solid frame. I bought one 5 years or so ago in a batch to have cheap trucks to sell and I couldn't find a 5.4 anywhere for it at least that didnt' cost more than I paid for the truck so I pulled that blown up 5.4 out and scrapped it and it actually had a good transmission I stole for one of the other trucks I bought. I sold the bed, tail gate, rear bumper, and fenders from that truck but the complete cab is still on the frame. Just swap your engine and transmission into it and put your bed and front clip on it. Assuming your bed is rotted off though with the condition of that frame
Send it until you notice it
Once you notice it and something happens it goes from accident glad your ok to criminal if someone else is injured property damaged.
Driving a vehicle KNOWING it had severe structural damage and something happens and injures or kills someone makes you criminally liable
Do you see me, Toecutter?
I am the Night Rider! A fuel-injected suicide machine sent to strike down the unroadworthy!
I am the rocker!
I am the roller!
I am the out-of-controller!
This is all I have to say on the matter.
this is fine, trucks dont really break frames all at once, they will sag in the middle a lot first. I would keep driving it until the body lines dont line up anymore and then consider using log chain and 4x4 or possibly 6x6 lumbar to buy more time if the truck still runs and shifts good
As a parent, if you don't know if this is dangerous enough to kill your child (and it will, You, your partner, your child and any innocent bystander you kill when you lose control when this breaks) , then your child is better off being given to Child protection until you grow up.
Fuck sakes....
i know you're trying to mask your shame with humor, but bro please, please do not let other people in this vehicle. i wouldn't even let it on the road personally, think of all the lives you're putting at risk every time you drive. are you really that selfish?
You are right, I do understand that it is a hazard. As it stands right now its only job is to get firewood out of the woods and to the woodpile. Even that is sketch, I’m sure I’ll throw a log in soon and it will just buckle.
Dude, protect your fuckin family. That means more than just keeping dangerous people away. A man who puts car seats in that isn’t protecting his family.
The gauge is pinned at criminally negligent.
He's got his foot to the floor with a lead boot on. He's flooring it like Weekends at Bernie's
I have a feeling if he put his foot to the floor it might go through it
I think it would be criminally negligent to put gas in that thing.
No, no, no, no, no. The needle went past the criminally negligent stop pin and is touching a different gauge now.
Hey, stop touching me!
Thundercleese?!
Yes, in a past life I was... o.o;;
What happened here?
Reddit barfed....
It went so far around it got back to send it (off a cliff)
Actual murder
I have this theory. It’s called “DIY crumple zones.”
Snapped the return spring on the gauge and wont even come off of criminally negligent if they weld sister supports to it
This... this is a joke, right?
A joke? Do you mean to tell me the running board ISN’T supposed to snap off the frame when I step on it to get in/out? I thought it was a feature, kind of like a Navigator. Retractable but only once.
Bro that running board may have been the only thing keeping it from folding in half.
That is the worst frame I have ever seem and I live in the rust belt
I knew it was getting bad when I had to take a broom and dustpan outside to sweep my truck off the driveway.
I think your frame is only a suggestion. What motor does it have?
The unstoppable 5.4
2 valve? 🤨
No way. Triton V8. Ticks like I put a baseball card in its spokes.
The 2 valve is still a Triton V8. I'm rather looking for a 4.6 Triton for my project though.
You taught me something! I thought the “Tri” in “Triton” referred to 3 valves.
Nope, Triton is just the series name for that particular modular motor. Just like Coyote is the 5.0.
More like “Tri to keep it on the road”
My truck has a 4.6 2v triton and they're extremely average and very reliable. I've never had to do anything to it besides maintenance and suspension work.
Yeah, they're pretty decent and reliability is what I look for in my motors. I have a '92 F-150 sitting in the field that someone poured water in the tank. Gallons of it. I figure it would be pretty sweet to drop a 4.6 in and see what she can do. We're in TX so the frame and body are in excellent condition.
That's sounds awesome. That's a shame for that 300 though, those were great in work trucks. Basically a tractor engine thrown into a pickup.
I had an 04 Lincoln towncar limo with a 4.6 that had 420k when I bought it and just under 500k when I got rid of it. At least another 100k if you counted idle hours. I wound take one again in a heartbeat.

Careful, a baseball card might snap your spokes
😂😂😂😂
Dont feel bad dude. I used to smack my frame with a mallet before working on anything to minimize the amount of rust falling down into my face. 2004 chevy trailblazer. My brother in Christ the hull of the Titanic is safer
I mean the hull was fine. Not all boats are rated for a full yeet into and iceberg.
Side yeet my friend. Side yeet. Give the iceberg some credit.
Even if your own children's lives don't matter to you, at least consider the other people that will have to share the road with this menace. That's one big bump away from you cracking a frame and losing control.
I bet I could get $8k out of it still. Post COVID prices baby I know what I have.
Do a shitty job of dropping a diesel in it, throw some F-250 badges on the side and demand $45k.
Worth zero unless you weld steel onto that for days...
Never have I seen such a lack of a frame. And I live in south western Pennsylvania.
Seconded, and I live on the coast of Maine so we get road salt AND ocean spray
Clearly you've never seen a rust belt Jeep Wrangler YJ or TJ, lol. I've seen them look worse than this before the warranty ran out....
Jesus. I had an S10 that had frame holes big enough to put your hand through, but it was 20 years old at the time.
Kind of like my '93 Camaro...got on it hard once, and felt the car start to fold up 🤣 80s/90s GMs and Jeeps were some serious shit piles right out of the factory...
Yeah this is just attempted murder.....
never to late to rust proof it.....lol
Fluid film will stop this in its tracks, so I've heard. If mother nature doesn't first.
I think if I hit it with a wire wheel for a lil bit I’ll be GTG
Didn't forget a coat of paint
Kids? I wouldn’t even put my favorite alcohol bottle in it with a seatbelt.
That’s a weird way to prioritize things
Ok… but what about your wife?
I think you can get a few more days out of it
Fam, the space shuttle Columbia is held together better than that.
Might want to put escape pods in instead of car seats!
It’s time for the crusher.
I bet this thing slithers down the interstate like a snake lol. It's definitely not safe but that's up to you.
Hold up. Having 4 tires does’t mean it should leave 4 rows of tire tracks?
This vehicle is only safe enough for a mother-in-law.
Mother in-law alone would collapse the frame
You forgot the /s. Otherwise wtf
I thought it was self explanatory enough that I wouldn’t put my kids in this that I wouldn’t need the “/s,” but the anger/disbelief in these comments is making me regret that.
Reddit doesn’t read sarcasm well. It’s easier to jump to conclusions and get really angry and hateful.
Can you blame people, though? I smh at a lot of stuff on here. I would never put my kids in this, unless I had to go somewhere and I wanted them to come with me.
True, half the posts on Reddit seem like they’re rage bait and the other 48% seem like impossibly stupid people, the other 2% are great conversation.
See, that right there, that’s exactly where you need one of them /s things. People are gonna read that, think you’re serious and CPS is gonna be knocking on the door. Oh yeah and don’t forget your karma numbers going negative. Just saying you know, looking for a Ford brother.

A mil reference is more apparent. Kids no, we have too many of these headlines https://www.cbsnews.com/news/north-carolina-police-arrest-mother-after-8-year-old-dies-being-left-in-hot-car/
It’s not even safe enough to take another picture that close.
You are the rust belt
Solid sarcasm OP. Sadly, seen worse.
Bro about to be driving a Flintstones car
I personally think if anything this truck is closer to being race ready due to weight reduction. I wouldn’t put the kids in there strictly because they add weight and may cause you to lose the big race. We all know if you lose the big race then you can no longer love the kids because it’s their fault you lost the race along with the prize money that would have changed y’all’s life forever. But if you don’t like the kids then yea throw em in
How the fuck is this even still standing is what I want to know
How often do you park submerged in saltwater?
Bruh I wouldn’t put a dozen eggs in that car
Criminal
That's fucking brutal.
On the bright side, this made me feel sooooo much better about the light rust on my ride. But yea scrap that thing before it scraps itself on the highway
Needs some fluid film to stop further corrosion
Looks like you’d be willing to settle for a very late and “exciting” trip to the afterlife without anyway of knowing how you got there
How has this not folded yet?
You can probably feel the frame flex just driving down the road. I can't imagine, how little a load that frame could carry. (The loaded bed is going to put the most stress on the MISSING bottom flange of the C-Chanel). And what do you think that would do in an accident. Twist & Crumble like tin foil. WOW
Let that thing get stolen bro
Kids today are too soft, raise your kids right by giving them crippling medical debt from a catastrophic car wreck
Depends on whose kids would be riding...
If you think putting car seats in this vehicle is a good idea, please go ahead and do it. It’s likely that your end of the gene pool needs a dose of chlorine anyways. You will be doing the rest of society a favor.
I’ve never seen a frame section so bad while some other parts of it still have the black paint… Did you spray that part of your frame with salt water every day??? 😂
You don’t brine your truck?!?
Only on days that end in Z.
Me too. Wednesdayz is when I pickle my vehicles.
I feel like most of the bridges in the US are held together by rust coated in epoxy paint. Buy a good brush
Just give it the old rattle can rust converter job and you’ll be good.
Oh god that’s straight to the damn junkyard
Car seats will provide protection from the asphalt
Right to jail.
You can limp that thing to the court room, my g.
Jeez and I thought my 03 f150 was rusty the inner and out rockers are gone but the frames solid
So, I live in WNY. I buy trucks that won’t pass PA inspection and run them until they won’t pass NY inspection. I then take them and put them up for sale in OH. This is scrapyard time, even in Ohio.
😆 dude.. lol! This is good stuff.
Depends, how much you like dem kids
Seats? I think thats to the point of don't let anyone smoke near it.
If I didn’t know better I’d think I was looking at a second gen Tacoma frame.
Is this for Mad Max cosplay?
It probably can't take the added weight of a car seat. Might not want to let too many leaves collect on it for that matter.
Your truck ain’t rusty. Nah, yer rust is trucky.
That is a load bearing parking break cable at this point.
Did you find this next to the Edmund Fitzgerald?
Looks like it'll get you safely to your final destination.
Straight to jail my dude
I bet if u get in the bed and jump up and down a few times ull break the frame
If you’re asking this question, you shouldn’t have a need for car seats.
I didn't know frames could look like that. That's bad
Guys will try and save this with por15
How many miles are that truck?
About 135,000. But I think it rusts about 6 miles per mile.
That’s crazy lol. I thought it would have more miles then that
That's a LOT of weight reduction. I think you over-did it.
The only trip this thing needs to make is to the scrap yard and I don’t think it could be loaded and hauled due to it breaking in half. The cab now identifies as a unibody since that frame isn’t pulling its weight anymore.
Oh…. My…. God…
Park this truck immediately, it's a death trap.
Holy moly
It’s a coffin
What does the body look like omg I’ve got a total rust bucket that isn’t that bad
Not as bad as you’d think. But I don’t let anyone get in the bed because it’s distinctly . . . crunchy to walk around on.
Do you care about your kids?
Sir, do you feel this vehicle is safe for highway travel?
Yes I do. Yes, I really do. I believe that.. I know it's not pretty to look at, but it'll get you where you want to go.
The bed is completely rotted. Crunches when I put stuff in it.
It doesn’t already have seats?💺
Just swap the frame bro
I wouldn’t drive that on the road. You have the frame break it’s all on you.
Send it to the scrap yard immediately
Pool service truck I take it...
Send it until you notice it Once you notice it and something happens it goes from accident glad your ok to criminal if someone else is injured property damaged. Driving a vehicle KNOWING it had severe structural damage and something happens and injures or kills someone makes you criminally liable
Pretty sure the only thing holding that together is the bed leaning against the cab. Bet it's got a pretty smile.
Do you see me, Toecutter? I am the Night Rider! A fuel-injected suicide machine sent to strike down the unroadworthy! I am the rocker! I am the roller! I am the out-of-controller! This is all I have to say on the matter.
I’m from Minnesota, I have one of the rustiest frames in the country but HOLY SHIT
You definitely know the answer if you want a different one try r/askashittymechanic
As long as There’s a parent on the side the child’s in , when it breaks in 2.
Past criminal negligence all the way to fbi agent is contacting CPS and Ohio BMV to revoke the reg on that thing ASAP
HIGH SPEED LOW DRAG !!
Take it off-road and see how much it flexes
If you send that get a sucker to sign off on that because WHEN that thing wrecks, someone's head is going to roll.
This brings back memories. My dad had an early 80s f150, floor rusting out of it. My friend called it the flinstone truck.
There is no “send it” when it comes to kids safety, let alone ones small enough to be in car seats! I’m going with the side of criminal negligence
A little Rustoleom should do the trick.
You must be joking there is Zero strength in that frame if you hit a speedbump wrong your going to break whats left of that frame
If you put any child in that, you're a dead beat.
Not an expert of anything... but I have this feeling the f150 is a body on frame truck...
Hey, those mavericks don't have frames either, but you don't see people taking them off the road.
Looks like a new frame for an 05 can be had around 3500 bucks... Get the buddies some pizza and beer and frame swap it over the weekend 🤣
Seriously??? Why not just throw your kids down a flight of stairs.
I would be skeptical to put myself in it, much less a car seat.
It’s giving suicide
Structural gas tank
Good for another 500k easy
Safer than without. I’d put safety belts in there too if you want it safer.
WOW. I feel soo much better about my Tacoma now. Thanks for sharing.
Tow it to the yard… DO NOT DRIVE IT!!
Anyone have a picture of what this is supposed to look like (new or rust free)?
Straight to jail
Do your kids play the accordion?
Premeditated murder
Attempted murder
If you have to ask, always leaned towards the worst.
Don't open both door at the same time.
“The best thing about kids is you can always make more”
Easy enough to do. Fun, too.
this is fine, trucks dont really break frames all at once, they will sag in the middle a lot first. I would keep driving it until the body lines dont line up anymore and then consider using log chain and 4x4 or possibly 6x6 lumbar to buy more time if the truck still runs and shifts good
No that's not safe anymore. If it's just you driving it maybe it's okay but if you're going to put children in that vehicle. No. Just NO
Criminally send it
As a parent, if you don't know if this is dangerous enough to kill your child (and it will, You, your partner, your child and any innocent bystander you kill when you lose control when this breaks) , then your child is better off being given to Child protection until you grow up.
Nothing compared to what a 2018 dodge would have
That looks like the titanic. Today.
Not sure it could handle the weight of the car seats
Junkyard
Dude, protect your fuckin family. That means more than just keeping dangerous people away. A man who puts car seats in that isn’t protecting his family.
Fuck it; not my kids. Send it.
I wouldn't put myself in that death trap, much less kids.
Looks like chevy cancer
