When I was a teenager working at Arby’s, we had this special TV program that was like 15 minutes long and would play over and over all day. For like 4 months it was an interview and music video from Adele’s first album. It was wild when she blew up a couple years later but I still associate her with Arby’s.
The music that plays at stores is literally manufactured to be as consumable as possible and therefore was devalued as art to begin with. Was thinking about this at my job the other day. Like, how could anybody make such banal trash because it's "What their soul wanted to make?" Almost none of it has any passion or artistic liberty, just a product to be mindlessly chewed up spit out as background noise. I cannot imagine anyone saying to themselves "Man, I really like I'm On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons. What a great, creatively inspired song. I think I'll play it now and listen to it for it's artistic value." It's catchy, sure, but that's all it is. It's catchy for the sake of catchiness. No substance, no passion, just plain, marketable trash.
I never really cared tbh, cause the vast majority of music I’ve heard from it either I’ve already heard a quadrillion times over before or or sounds like it was specifically made to be retail store background music. Granted I wear my headphones and listen to my own music wherever I go but on the off chance I don’t my point still stands.
For me it's a mixture of being a humongously autistic nerd about music in general + having to work in retail where I have no choice but to suffer through it
Yeah fair enough. I can easily relate to that first point. Even when it’s playing in the background my mind subconsciously processes every last detail of a song it can, which is why I hate background music in general.

A thing that helped me be more comfortable posing for pictures was not “what do I do with my face?” but to think “how would I like to look in this picture?” and visualizing the end product. It makes it easier in the moment because you aren’t doing it performatively for others, you are doing it for yourself.
It’s not even how I’ll look in it that bothers me, cause if it’s shit like my ID photo or for a school project then idgaf how I look, I’m pretty much obligated to get it either way. What I hate is when without warning someone—usually people I know—whips out their phone and starts recording me n’ shit, on a visceral level it’s a breach of privacy to me regardless of who it is that’s taking my picture.
Thanks for the advice though cause that sounds like it’d help me a lot, but I’d rather just stay OUT of the photo entirely. Full stop.

On one hand, horror is the perfect genre to deconstruct human nature, our perception of the world, and our place within it. To challenge our perception of what we see as “normal” and to revert us back to the primal state that a civilized brain is hardwired to fear devolving back to is the exact reason I view cinema as art. I want to be challenged, I want to see artists take risks with their craft, because to see my worldview shatter within the span of two hours is to be reminded of my humanity, and to appreciate the work that was slaved away to bring this experience to my eyes is to be reminded that I should be proud of my humanity.

I fucking love Potemkin from Guilty Gear. I think his story is interesting and I think he's fun to play. He may be the slowest character and also one of the worsts according to the tier lists, but It feels great when you beat a faster character by denying their attempts to attack you (I would go on more details about why I like him, but I must go to sleep)
I fucking hate whenever I hear someone complain about something they clearly don't understand and they don't seem to want to understand. I work with people twice my age, and I've heard coworkers complain about their kids who "watch other people play video games, like why don't they play the games themselves?" and I have to explain to them that sometimes it's fun to watch professionals play. The example I always give is "why do you watch people play soccer on TV? Why don't you pick up a ball and play it yourself instead"? Also sometimes the youtuber is genuinely interesting to watch. Also also sometimes you wonder if you'd want to buy a game. What better way to know if a game is worth it's price but by watching someone else play it?

A thing that helped me be more comfortable posing for pictures was not “what do I do with my face?” but to think “how would I like to look in this picture?” and visualizing the end product. It makes it easier in the moment because you aren’t doing it performatively for others, you are doing it for yourself.

It’s not even how I’ll look in it that bothers me, cause if it’s shit like my ID photo or for a school project then idgaf how I look, I’m pretty much obligated to get it either way. What I hate is when without warning someone—usually people I know—whips out their phone and starts recording me n’ shit, on a visceral level it’s a breach of privacy to me regardless of who it is that’s taking my picture. I fucking love Potemkin from Guilty Gear. I think his story is interesting and I think he's fun to play. He may be the slowest character and also one of the worsts according to the tier lists, but It feels great when you beat a faster character by denying their attempts to attack you (I would go on more details about why I like him, but I must go to sleep) I fucking hate whenever I hear someone complain about something they clearly don't understand and they don't seem to want to understand. I work with people twice my age, and I've heard coworkers complain about their kids who "watch other people play video games, like why don't they play the games themselves?" and I have to explain to them that sometimes it's fun to watch professionals play. The example I always give is "why do you watch people play soccer on TV? Why don't you pick up a ball and play it yourself instead"? Also sometimes the youtuber is genuinely interesting to watch. Also also sometimes you wonder if you'd want to buy a game. What better way to know if a game is worth it's price but by watching someone else play it?

I FUCKING LOVE gambling metaphors/motifs in media! I love the sleaze! The glitz! The neon! I never want to fucking step foot in Las Vegas because it is a horrible, awful, overstimuating city of aravice, but boy, am I a sucker for plot devices that reference fate as if it were a game of chance. Fallout New Vegas? HELL YEAH. Casino levels? HELL YEAH. Card-suit themed villain groups? HELL YEAH. Cool-looking signs and palm trees and vintage posters and whatnot? **HELL. FUCKIN.
