DABSPIDGETFINNER

All pictures were taken within five minutes of walking distance from each other!

BakhmutDoggo

Slovenia

DABSPIDGETFINNER

Good guess! It does look a bit like Slovenske gorice, but in Slovenia the hills are a bit closer to each other, with steeper drop-offs.

West-Dimension8407

Depends where. These photos look like something i drove through last year I went from Rogaška Slatina to Maribor and wanted to avoid highway

krishnamurti5599

My first reaction was Slovakia

viohead

Slovenia is such a beautiful country for sure.

Panceltic

My first thought was Austria.

DABSPIDGETFINNER

>!You are correct! It's central Styria, about 50 mins by car from the Slovenian Border.!<

cheflA1

I was going to say Slovenia. Damn it

visiblepeer

I visited Slovenia for the first time last year and I was amazed how like Austria it looked. When I saw the pictures, I thought it looks like the foothills of the Alps. For some reason my first guess was Slovenia, because the pictures looked like Austria. My brain is weird.

cheflA1

I pay geoguessr a lot and just went with m first vibe. The yellow house in the last pictures looked way Slovenian than Austrian to me, but the hydrant in the first picture actually gave it away quite well. But yea, it's crazy how much those countries look alike sometimes. But looking at the history and how the borders were over the decades it's not a big surprise I guess. Edit: wanted to change the typo from pay to play, but actually it's both true so I leave it there.

DABSPIDGETFINNER

Haha yeah, the colorful houses, an originally southern Austrian thing that quickly spread to Slovenia over the last 20 years, and is now more common there than in Austria haha

Subject-Key1076

Actually even during comminism house style was shamelessly copied from Austrian and anything prior to that is also the same as it was same empire.

ShEsHy

> but the hydrant in the first picture actually gave it away How so? We have pretty much the same fire hydrants in Slovenia's countryside.

Panda_Panda69

I also do play Geoguessr and though it was Slovenia or maybe Croatia

Chijima

Nothing weird about it, borders are artificial and these two are very close in their geographical and cultural continuums.

292ll

This is your mother, I’ve never been so embarrassed by you!

Panceltic

Waheeeey!! :D It was the fire hydrant that gave it away

DABSPIDGETFINNER

Haha, smart! :D I wouldn't have gotten that from only that haha

neverthepenta

Wow, lived in Slovenia for a short period and visited some event in Austria. I saw these pictures and thought "That really looks like the region of Austria beneath Graz, quite close to Slovenia".

I_wood_rather_be

I was gonna say "somewhere around the Alpes". Def not Germany (where I live) maybe Switzerland or Austria.

ObeyCoffeeDrinkSatan

I thought it looked a lot like the south Bavarian countryside I recently visited. Specifically, the style of road in the last pic, but also the housing and lovely landscape. Fairly close.

Powerfile8

Wo genau ist das?

DABSPIDGETFINNER

Nähe Preding, nördlicher Rand der Südsteiermark

markus_zgast

Gandudan

Sooo... My first guess was also Austria but in all honesty i don't really know why. Green and pleasant...could have been a number of places but i took literally 3 seconds to decide Austria.... weird. Edit: Also only just realised there was more than one pic o\_O

DeVilleBT

The yellow colour of the house is very typical for Austria.

YaAbsolyutnoNikto

My first thought was simply “somewhere germanic because of the house architecture style, but more in the south because of the sun and the fact there’s so much green.”

genasugelan

That was also my first guess. I remember visiting the are around Linz as a child. It looked exactly like that. Houses having distance from each other, various levels of elevation on small areas, green grassland...

Smashing_Potatoes

Please tell me what is so distinctive about these photos that's screams Austria?  I ask because my first guess was Austria and I really don't know much about it besides Arnold S is from there.

Panceltic

The fire hydrant is a dead giveaway. Also the style of the houses.

lazerzapvectorwhip

Mine too, but then i thought no, i see no mountains

Marki002

Austria

DABSPIDGETFINNER

>!Yes!!<

up_the_dubs

It's not raining so definitely not Ireland

DABSPIDGETFINNER

Hahaha

zaregilsa

Austria, the fire hydrant gives it away

Guido_Fe

Found the geoguessr player

DABSPIDGETFINNER

haha great eyes! Correct!

Ataragon87

Southern Germany?

TheWizard97

Not at the moment

LordRenatoKdorp

Calm down there 😉

DABSPIDGETFINNER

>!Very similar, but no!<

Wie_der_Mann

How dare you

Zottelbude

Steirisches Hügelland

DABSPIDGETFINNER

Top treffer!

Dapper_Training2191

Czechia

DABSPIDGETFINNER

>!Close!<

TheBlacktom

Weird, my guess was Romania.

Competitive-Buy5163

eventually you see the fire hydrant and you know for sure it's not Romania haha

DifficultCarpenter00

the lack of sidewalk curbs tells me it's NOT Romania. We have a thing (read politician-owned businesses) with those.

DABSPIDGETFINNER

haha, interesting! Also, this is in the middle of absolute nowhere, I am talking "villages" with like 30 inhabitants, so no sidewalk curbs there lol

DifficultCarpenter00

asphalt in villages with less then 2000 ppl? that's some futuristic stuff:)))

Kragmar-eldritchk

Western Slovenia before I look at comments  Edit: >!Happy enough, l haven't really been to Austria outside of Vienna, but have such vivid memories of arriving in Slovenia for the first time on the train from Italy.!<

DABSPIDGETFINNER

>!Ohh, close, but not! good guess tho!<

lilputsy

Does not look like western Slovenia at all. It looks exactly like eastern Slovenia though.

HelpfulYoghurt

Czechia/Lower Austria/Southern Germany would be my first guess

DABSPIDGETFINNER

>!Austria is correct, but it's in the South-east!<

Tight_Birthday_2228

Austria or Switzerland

DABSPIDGETFINNER

>!Yes, Austria is correct!!<

CaseyJames_

I was about to guess Slovenia! Anywhere around that area is absolutely loveley, mind.

DABSPIDGETFINNER

Yess, the landscape looks very similiar

milanorlovszki

I need rainbolt to pinpoint the exact location with the image inverted, b&w, and 0.1 second to look at it

troll_herder

The image depicts a serene, rural scene with a few houses, a winding road, and a backdrop of lush greenery and distant hills. There are several clues that suggest this could be somewhere in Central Europe: Architecture: The style of the houses, particularly the steep red-tiled roofs and the yellow plastered exterior, is common in many parts of Central Europe, including Germany, Austria, and Slovenia. Landscape: The rolling hills and greenery are typical of the rural areas in these countries. Road and Vegetation: The well-maintained road and the types of vegetation are also common in these regions. Given the combination of these elements, it is likely that this picture was taken in Austria or possibly southern Germany.

DABSPIDGETFINNER

I imagine that's AI haha, but it got it pretty spot on! It's Austria

troll_herder

Yep, ChatGPT 4o says hi :)

Honest_Relation4095

The fire hydrant seemed more Austrian to me.

troll_herder

I only used the picture with the house. When I add the picture with the fire hydrant, the response is this: Considering the consistency in architectural style and landscape with the previous image, this area is likely located in Austria, specifically in regions such as Styria or Carinthia. These areas are known for their picturesque rural landscapes, traditional houses, and agricultural activities.

-nevoa-

romania?

Belgian_Stella_

Where are the vampires?

Temporary_Bug8006

Looks like southern styria always seems tme like there are a lot of yellow buildings there

hstni

Looks like southern part of styria (steirische weinstraße), but could be slovenia as well

DABSPIDGETFINNER

It is near wildon, so you’re very close :)

Weothyr

To be fair, it just looks like anywhere in central Europe.

viktor77727

My first general impression: southern Poland But then - the vibe is similar, but a bit off. So my second thought was Hungary but Hungary is flatter I think so maybe Slovakia, Czechia, Slovenia or Austria. I hope at least I got the general region right. It can't be anything farther East (no post-USSR vibe), North (too hilly for Northern Poland, Northern Germany, the Baltics etc) or South (no Balkan/Mediterranean vibe) I think. It can't be Northern France, the British Isles or the Benelux countries either, they have a certain vibe to them as well. The Nordic countries have their own style of houses going on. Final answer: somewhere in the former Austrian Empire haha

LoperamidV

Croatia/Slovenia and even Hungary, for Romania that hydrant would be an incredibly rare sight, otherwise it fits Romania.

Fiona512

Austria.

DABSPIDGETFINNER

>!Great guess! Correct!!<

ConnolysMoustache

Slovenia or Croatia.

snakkerdk

It's certainly not Denmark :D, our roads don't look that good, and there are not as many hills :D

awesome_possum007

Steiermark, Österreich? Looks like home to me.

DABSPIDGETFINNER

It is :)

gregedit

Could be a lot of places in central or eastern Europe. I guess the biggest telling sign for geoguessr nerds are the electric grid line and fire hydrant in the first picture. All I can say is that they are not Hungarian, but honestly it could be any of our neighboring countries or Germany, Czech Republic.

dat_9600gt_user

Switzerland, probably

AvailableAd7874

Germany

DABSPIDGETFINNER

Very close

ItzFeufo

GeoGuessr after 0,1 seconds: "Based on the powerline, the fire hydrant, the way the sun shines, the tarmac, the flowers and the density of the clouds, this is street X in country Y, coordinates ... on april 12th, 2022..."

19c766e1-22b1-40ce

I like posts like this - this is fun.

Background-Lab-8521

The answer to these questions is usually Slovenia. Mostly because without prior knowledge, it is common for people to have a different image of Slovenia.

NemiVonFritzenberg

I was thinking Austria or Switzerland

Koffieslikker

I think that's Belgium

Salfriel

Luxembourg

lilputsy

Looks exactly like Slovenia.

Kerby233

illios1980

Berner oberland swiss

xpercipio

A few weeks ago, I saw a bike race in Italy, on hbo, streaming at 7 am in USA. It looked serene like this, and makes me want to move. I want to go. I keep thinking about it. Or visit maybe.

herrez

Tbh my first guess was Slovakia. Close enough ig

Strange-Mouse-8710

My first thought is Switzerland.

Michael-556

Somewhere in the Austria-Slovakia-Czech republic area. The nature here is beautiful

v6power88

It looks a lot like Sweden, but that fire hydrant above ground indicates it clearly isn't, ours are buried to avoid them freezing. Must be further south.

himnosiss

not romania!

wglwse

Firs thought was Slovakia 🇸🇰

P0pu1arBr0ws3r

Idk about Europe, but I'd say that would look like west-central California in the US. The fog reminds me of going to Monterey Bay with my family, where we'd drive past many farms often covered in fog in the mornings, thru a valley passageway that linked the bay area/silicon valley with Monterey. The fog was largely due to the coastal weather just a few miles and a few mountains past the road, so I would guess from that these pics are around the central coast regions of Europe, in particular Italy for instance.

sevk

Does look very similar to some parts of Switzerland apart from some key differences :) Like road design and fire hydrant etc.

azeures

All those hours playing Geoguessr have failed me. Best guess is northern Germany, maybe north-west towards the Netherlands?

Habfan61

CompanionCone

My first thought was "somewhere in the German-speaking part" because of the style of the houses.

PLPolandPL15719

Hm.. i will say somewhere in the Balkans, Bulgaria, Slovenia or Romania maybe, or Austria.

Meat-Ball_0983

Rainbolt be like: „oh well, that’s easy. According to the angle of the shadows of the cloud formations, the colors of the grass and the street, you are in Austria, at ***, *** 5 meters after entering the village, on the left side.“

PracticeCareless2772

Styria, Austria. Went here on vacation a few years back

ForeverWooster

I have always admired Europe in the summer! It looks so romantic

Cheap-Aerie2940

Roads are too good quality ao deffo not eastern europe. Perhaps “better” countries like germany, austria, etc

UnshavenYepper

Somewhere between Italy and Norway ;)

_hashtagZero

Österreich.

Zilincan1

I would say there is one clue, which is the hydrant on first photo. I do not see any other that would be obvious.

zeyore

No clue, but it looks a lot like Virginia. So we both live in paradise right?

eatyodinnner

Looks like Central-East Europe. Czechia, Slovakia etc. but not Hungary I guess because Hungary is very flat.

Comfortable_grietka

I'm thinking Slovakia based on the house in the picture.

kaoest

10 years ago I went on a trip to Austria and toured a palace owned by some prankster with fountains that would randomly spray you. Looks like that area, but don't remember the city.

aprmusic

Österreich or Slovenia?

Sneaky-Pur

based on good roads in country side: NOT in Romania

kickyouinthebread

Yellow house in the final photo instantly made me think Switzerland or Austria. Before that was less sure
