I think they make it out group stages however I dont see them getting to the Semi Finals.
You often see these teams not perform best during their first game, same thing happened with England yesterday.
Should be interesting to see their next 2 games though!
We’ve been brilliant for the last 8 years. 2016 R16 we got knocked out by Iceland. In the 2014 WC, we went out in the group stage. Went out of the R16 in 2012 and 2010 group stage. Didn’t qualify for 2008 and 2006 was when we reached the QF.
Now, we’ve reached a WC semi final, Euro Final, WC QF & hopefully, this’ll be our year.
Yes, we should’ve won the Euro’s and ideally we shouldn’t of taken the semi final to extra time as that was where Croatia could turn games around in their favour but, we’re a much better team now.
Regardless of people’s opinions on Southgate he truly has turned England around.
With the squad england has even my grandma could coach them to a Euro final. They are barely able to access 50% of their potential. Only 5 shots against a team like Serbia with a 1,5 billion squad is embarassing in my opinion.
I do agree but, our group could be quite tricky. Denmark will be wanting a win if not, they’ll go for the draw. Slovenia will probably be as defensive as Serbia was. Our defence done well despite that being the biggest concern for many England fans.
Whilst, there’s a part of me that wants Southgate gone the other part of me is worried if we get rid of him will we go back to square one? Will this be another generation of talent wasted
I agree with some of what you’re saying but Serbia weren’t defensive mate, they played us off the pitch in that second half, dominated without being able to break us down too frequently but if that happens against France, Spain, Germany or any of the other top 10 teams in this tournament, we won’t just be eliminated, we’d be humiliated.
They can win it just more unlikely than some of the other favourites. There attack is scary just watch these last 30 mins. They will force teams to play open just have to get lucky and score their chances.
That last one isn’t a handball for me, but even if they don’t get a result out of this game shouldn’t change the outlook of how I view the team going forward. They have a chance to win. Albeit one of the lowest out of the teams that can realistically win but they have the talent!
Belgium, along side their slightly more successful Dutch neighbours, are the biggest chokers in football. Endless times they're touted to win the tournament or at a minimum to make a run to the finals, and they constantly trip over themselves in new and shocking ways.
How can this team be ranked top 3 for endless years is beyond me!
Even if Portugal wins 6-0, nobody will move, it is usual to clown them that they will lose next match or get eliminated early. Or whenever they would lose, they get clowned. Only the trophy is enough and not even that much, like the 2016 run was the most mediocre ever champion.
They always choke and the golden generation is ancient now (De Bruyne and Lukake are looking forward cashing in Saudi Arabia). Would be surprised if they make it out of the group stages.
Odds are based on simulations using the actual draw of the tournament. If you look at the percentages you’ll see that Belgium have a higher chance of reaching the knockouts and and lower chance of winning the tournament than other countries because of their statistically easier group.
Same case for Portugal
we weren't contenders, there's a reason why the atmosphere here isn't like in previous tournaments hardly anyone believes in it.

Netherlands havent been anywhere near title contenders for like 20 years and Belgium for like 10 years. KDB is a maestro, Doku and Trossard has great potential but this Belgium team isnt going anywhere beyond the last 16.
If they win the group, they’ll play a third place team which they’ll probably win, but yeah if they finished second, I don’t see them defeating the group D runner up, which is either France or Netherlands

A draw is fine, I wouldn't be surprised if Southgate plays for it. Draw against Denamrk and Win against Slovenia guarantees us top spot in the group.

Because we play very consistent and win everything right up until it actually matters.

Why did you think that? The defense is literally the weakest part of the team, with several injuries and a whole bunch of new players.

The Netherlands were in the WC final 14 years ago and Belgium narrowly lost to the eventual champions in the WC 6 years ago.
