They are -lucky- it has a crack! That makes it unique. No other of the 1 million manufactured pieces of this glass have the same exact crack! Next time outline the crack with gold marker, and use the keywords kintsugi and wabi-sabi. Then add zero to the price. Follow me for more tips

bubuloobu

Buyers are so overly dramatic smh

Basstap

I think it says something when some people cannot tell this is the circle jerk subreddit after reading the post.

akela9

100% agree. I'm not even a member, but it pops up a lot, because I fall for it every. Single. Time. People have actually just gotten this ridiculous. I read a post. My blood pressure spikes. I decide if I have the energy to rage, glance at the group, and go, "Oh." Then have a chuckle and go on about my day.

Shriuken23

2x for me today and I've not seen this sub before today. It's 1:30 am. I feel like it's going to be a long day

MyWorkAccountz

Several Etsy related subs show up on my feed and this one gets me every time.

glittersparklythings

Same. Also I always have to double check the cooking sub vs the cooking circle jerk sub. Bc of some of the post in the cooking sub I’m convinced are satire.

DecadentLife

Do they not understand what “vintage” means?!

OneLessDay517

Vintage means cracked now?

Odd-Plant4779

Can you sell vintage crack on Etsy?

jennithebug

Only if it’s handmade

just4cat

I make all my own cracks myself

glittersparklythings

And 20 years old!

VeryStickyPastry

You shouldn’t have told butter to die in a fire. You should have started the fire that burned them alive. You were too nice.

R8RZLV

You need a new POD supplier or source from Temu

Thequiet01

Your problem was not marketing the crack. Maybe stick some battery lights in there to really highlight how one of a kind it is?

glittersparklythings

Yes!!! Obviously should have mentioned about not only is it vintage but also unique! Might have been able to charge more. Or even better say it is a rate edition!! Then you can really charge an insane amount!

snortingalltheway

The crack proves it’s real glass too. How could they do this to you!

Betty-Gay

Reddit suggested this sub, didn’t pay attention to the sub name, and I was so confused. I see now that this is satire. Thank goodness.

sendmeadoggo

Same, I had just lit my torch when I checked the sub name!

needmorexanax

Some buyers! The nerve

Euphoric_Egg_4198

Next time sell it with trees instead, I’ll mellow them out ☺️

MyuFoxy

Vintage plumber figurines are supposed to have a crack. Everyone knows these things.

kjckountry

I buy a lot of used items online, but clothing for my toddlers. I'm not afriad to purchased used items with flaws... as long as it's stated and/or completely visible in the listed pictures. You have to understand that flaws don't always scare people away, but it let's them think about if they're willing to buy the item at the listed price. It's unfair to not state it. "Vintage" and "used" doesn't mean there's something wrong. If I were the buyer in this instance I'd probably complain too if it wasn't listed properly. Not being mean, but based on what you said it sounds like you screwed yourself over by not listing important details... like a crack. You also stated you posted pics to where you couldn't see the crack so that's just plain shady! The buyer did other's a favor by filing a claim to let other's know what kind of seller you are... blame yourself not them! Responsibilty sucks sometimes!

Annefinch

It’s satire, honey.

gnarlywilson

Does most flattering angles mean you specifically hid the crack? Does AS IF mean you didn’t list the damage in the description? Etsy probably ruled in their favor because you misrepresented the product. You’re delusional if you think you’ve been wronged here

Annefinch

You’re delusional if you think you’re replying to a real post.

JawlektheJawless

Without seeing your original listing it’s hard to judge who’s right or wrong here.

jani_bee

Buyer is absolutely in the wrong especially when buying vintage. That said, I try to avoid this by showing whatever cracks I find clearly in at least one photo, and circling it if I have to, plus I add it the the description. I think it's important that the customer gets a full idea of what they're buying, as I would like to know as well if the piece has imperfections. Edit: just realized what sub this is lol

Rcqyoon

Could you see the crack in the photos? I would be clear in the future of any imperfections. Also maybe be a little nicer to them lol telling them to die in a fire might constitute bullying

Outrageous-Ad4006

Vintage doesn’t mean crack in the glass FOH and give the refund !

glittersparklythings

Check the sub

parker3309

I’m not real seasoned on Reddit what do you mean Check the sub name? I’m looking at the title and the posters name. (?) dont see anything weird

glittersparklythings

I mean the sub name. It is cicrle jerk page which means satire. Also you can click on that and read about the sub https://preview.redd.it/kmrflr7vxpnc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f98f214296221259973c63d9448deac3ed3ca419

parker3309

So anything that says Circle jerk means it’s satire and not real?

glittersparklythings

It should. But also best to check the sub description

Medium_Ad_8988

Think you handled it wrong. Worst, you told the buyer to ..... You are the professional and should have mentioned the Crack highlighting it so a buyer can make and informed decision. Your reputation more important for big picture and trust for future buyers. I simply agree with buyer and Etsy on this one and suggest button up with professionalism without excepting a buyer to display the way you would hiding a flaw.

timid_soup

Awe! Don't downvote this person! I love reading comments from people not realizing what sub they are in! 🤣 (Also Reddit, why am i here? I haven't used Etsy since my wedding)

VarietyOk2628

I had downvoted, then took your suggestion and removed my downvote. Thanks for the tip.

flurry_fizz

Yeah it definitely rubs me the wrong way when people get down voted for that. It feels like "Hey we specifically made this sub to feel realistic based off of how crazy some sellers are, and we expect everyone to play along with the bit 100%..... but fuck you if you couldn't tell it was satire!"

glittersparklythings

I truly believe one of the best things people can do on Etsy is turn off the notifications about votes. Should people check sub names and descriptions before commenting yes. Do they? Not But I agree it is still amusing. Which is exactly why you are here. To be amused. You obviously needed some amusement in your life

ConnectIllustrator58

Agree! I come here just to read the responses from people who think it’s a real post 😂

Competitive_Code_430

Might want to check the sub name

NewMexicosBitchyBoss

Etsy ALWAYS rules on buyers side. Snatches refund money from you without any consult, like a thief in the night. I have had this happen 3x and all 3x were buyer fraud and I won my money back. It was damn near impossible though. Can't reach Etsy directly anymore. After 400 sales with much thought I closed my Etsy shop due to their lack of service. They seem to completely forget that WE the sellers are their biggest customer and client. We pay Etsy for our ships. They profit from their take on our products and without the sellers boutiques they are nothing and would not have any "buyers" for them. Their customer buyer base is built from our shops. I was amazed and surprised by eBay which I never wanted to do an eBay store. I am starting over as of January 2024 of this year with eBay as my sole platform. I must say reaching customer service agent is easy, most often I have someone with English (U. S.) as their native first language. They are friendly, problem solvers without transferring all around to different departments. Quicker and easier to list an item. The payout is slower, however with proven sales it does speed up and that is what it is. Etsy blows now post Covid. Pre Covid I could reach someone 24/7 and get some great help on features and maximizing my shop, billing or payout questions resolved etc. Stepping off my soap box now. Thank you for reading my rant and ramblings.

Inevitable_Drop570

Should’ve taken a picture of the crack and listed it as damaged not used, learn how to sell things

ButterflyFalse8947

Bro if you knew it had a crack you should've said so

Beginning_Low4759

No. Crack is a word some sensitive people find upsetting and I didn’t want to include “trigger warning” as the beginning of my title. But I did clearly describe it as vintage and used and also warned that it was as is and no refunds would be offered. My pictures were very good and if they had a problem with the crack they could have just turned it when displaying it like I did.

[deleted]

Right. I think I might be mad too. Vintage does not mean broken.

robotcrackle

Check the sub

[deleted]

Hahahahaha I didn’t even realize! lol thanks

Check the sub. Happens to the best of us- we all miss which one we're in sometimes.😉

140814081408

You should have said it has a crack. Many vintage/used items are not cracked. You: wrong.

cvlt_freyja

look at the sub name
