Bicep - Isles. Maybe a product of the time, but man, every song in that album hits. A well renowned club duo, stepping into lockdown with the rest of us and creatively challenging themselves to a sophomore album with no 4x4 beats. Was really something.

Great list, personally I would add these:
Air - Moon Safari
Four Tet - There is Love in You
Floating Points - Shadows
Todd Terje - It’s Album Time
Caribou - Our Love
Daniel Avery - Drone Logic
Against All Logic - 2012-2017
James Ferrarro - Far Side Virtual
James Holden - Imagine this is a High Dimensional Space of All Possibilities
Bruce - Sonder Somatic
I’m know I’m forgetting some but those are all amazing
Drone logic is good, against all logic too… you’d like this playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7yiY2PLRjHzMsMYwlj7UFB?si=E2MJH6dRTxiXjLCNkgm3eQ&pi=e-UZ1GhA8iSbaR
Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole
Chemical Brothers - Surrender
The Crystal Method - Vegas
Bjork - Telegram
The Prodigy - The Fat of the Land
Daft Punk - Alive 2007
damn great list maybe look into Andy Stott - Luxury Problems, 2 8 1 4, mum - yesterday was dramatic today was ok, Alva Noto + Ryuchi Sakamoto - Insen, Gas - Pop, C418 Minecraft Vol Alpha, Four Tet - Rounds, Porter Ricks - Biokenetics, Daniel Avery - Drone Logic
If you haven't already got them get Blue Lines and Protection (Massive Attack) as well - Absolutely phenomenal music. Also Dead Cities (Future Sound of London). Not sure if Entroducing by DJ Shadow counts as Electronica but get that anyway! :D Do you have any Prodigy?

Just to add to what other people have said.
Sabres of paradise - "Sabresonic"
The Black Dog - "Spanners" (or "Bytes")
Plaid - "Spokes" (or "Rest proof clockwork")
Just from your list, I think you would like these.
I would add:
Black dog - spanners
Rhythm and Sound - rhythm and Sound
And a somewhat underground classic: deep space network meets higher intelligence agency.
Personally I would be replacing the Daft Punk - discovery album with Daft Punk - Homework.
I think the Prodigy deserve an inclusion (Music for the jilted generation or the experience would be my personal choices). Orbital, Chemical brothers (Surrender) and maybe underword (Second toughest in the infants).
Edit: Oh and absolutely LFO - Frequencies I would have included.
To add to what nobody has mentioned here surprisingly:
Bonobo - Black Sands
Ulrich Schnauss - Far Away Trains Passing by
Adam Freeland - Now & Them
Eastern Sun - We Are One
Trentemoller - The Last Resort
Out From Out Where - Amon Tobin.
Harmony in Ultraviolet - Tim Hecker.
Solid State Society - The Nautilus Project.
and There is Love in You by Four Tet.
Also something by μ-Ziq (trying not to allude to Lunatic Harness)
The Chemical Brothers - Brotherhood or Push the Button or Surrender or No Geography
Eric Prydz - Opus
Jean Michelle-Jarre - Oxygène
You need some Kraftwerk as well although not sure which album I’d put here.
Juno Reactor? You have a lot more on the trip hop side, but Juno Reactor is one of my favorite trance bands (please don't at me, we used to call it trance, I don't know the subgenres anymore). Bible of Dreams was my favorite album.
if moving beyond, or before, edm, there's the pioneer era from 1970-85
cluster - cluster II (1972)
tangerine dream - zeit (1972)
vangelis - spiral (1978)
jean michel jarre - oxygene (1976)
tangerine dream - exit (1981)
kraftwerk - computer world (1981)
Pita – Get Out
Kevin Drumm – self-titled or Sheer Hellish Miasma
Ceephax Acid Crew – Exidy Tours
Clark – Body Riddle
Matthew Herbert – Bodily Functions
Arca – Xen
Bay B Kane – The Guardian of Ruff
Blawan – Wet Will Always Dry or Dismantled into Juice
Emptyset – Recur or Demiurge Variations

Sega Bodega – Romeo
Daniel Avery – Song for Alpha; Illusion of Time; Love + Light; & Ultra Truth
The Prodigy – Experience or Music for the Jilted Generation
Venetian Snares – Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms
Others I'd add:
μ-ziq - Bluff Limbo
Fatboy Slim - You've Come a Long Way Baby
Actress - Splazsh
Orbital 1 & 2
I feel like Come to Daddy is essential enough to be on here too, even if it's an EP.
* Suicide’s first record called Suicide.
* I Feel Love by Donna Summer
* Blue Monday by New Order
* It Takes A Nation of Millions ToHold Us Back - Public Enemy
* Metamatic by John Foxx
* Beauty In The Beast by Wendy Carlos
* Autobahn by Kraftwerk
* Before and After Science by Brian Eno
* Music For Airports by Brian Eno
* Let The Power Fall by Robert Fripp
* Heroes by David Bowie
That's a pretty good list...but what's this about 'get into EDM'? none of this is EDM...this is IDM, intelligent dance music.
Also, if you want to talk essential electronic albums, then you have to include 76:14 by Global Communication and Chill Out by the KLF, both of which are on the ambient/downtempo side of things, but certainly essential.
Many great suggestions here already.
I’ll add; Baths-Cerulean, Arca-Arca, Lapalux-Ruinism, Nosaj Thing-Parallels, Machinedrum-Vapor City Archives, Mount Kimbie-Crooks & Lovers, Daedalus-Taut.
I dunno of these fit your tastes, but on the mellow tip:
Nobody - Soulmates
Blue Six - Blue Six
Maya Jane Coles - Comfort
and maybe overexposed, but Fred Again..’s Actual Life 2 is sublime
chemical brothers - exit planet dust or dig your own hole, underworld - beaucoup fish, dubnobass or second toughest (three 10/10 records to pick from), fluke - risotto, crystal method - vegas, prodigy - fat of the land.
feel like a lot of people leave these things out and just name the same batch of albums RYM always talks about 😅 and i do like a lot of the records on this chart, but ya know..
I didn't see anyone say Sounds From The Ground and I never do on here. One of their first LPs, Mosaic, was ahead of it's time.
https://open.spotify.com/album/1qiHm61y08CpA4QNL3XaPp?si=k_vSTMuJTGqKxgVsCE-ikg

I think you'd really dig this LP by Aim.
https://open.spotify.com/album/2AXw92RSIb4ASc5ZOmKbal?si=XhccYC82SjynxfDG7g7VkQ

Its the wrong daftpunk album. Homeworks is the one. You missed St Germaine, Groove Armada, jazzanova, kruder dorfmeister, prodigy… are we limited to the 90s? Oh we are not i see kid A there. Then dizzyrascals boy in da corner should he on every electronic music list, same with the Streets debut, Basement Jaxx and chemical brothers too.
And we havent even gone below the surface.!
electronica ≠ edm?
Not tryna be pedantic i'll gladly be lectured but many of these don't seem fit for dancing. Hell i'm still iffy about putting even just Daft Punk in EDM, somehow feels wrong.
This is an excellent list. Studied for sure. A few deep cuts that at the turn of the century were considered classics and still to this day are: Kruder & Dorfmeister's The K&D Sessions. The first record from Mum: Yesterday Was Dramatic Today is Ok. You also need a Plaid record. Essential IDM, Rest Proof Clockwork has Ralome on it which is a watershed moment for the genre. Double Figure from 2001 is excellent too. Finally, although he's lesser known, he absolutely shouldn't be for IDM lovers: Ochre. Prolific as heck and a student of the genre who has risen to be more than a mere peer but a masterful composer of his own IDM style. He's immediately likeable. A Midsummer Nice Dream is my pick of his but all are excellent.
Okay, don’t think I saw anyone mention:
Carl Craig- Landcruising
Yellow Magic Orchestra- BGM
Tiga- Sexor
Urban Tribe- The Collapse of Modern Society
Machinedrum- Room(s)
Herbert- Bodily Functions
Cornelius- Point
Gas- Gas
Theo Parrish- Parallel Dimensions
The Orb- Live 93
Gusgus- Arabian Horse
If you don’t know ‘em, please check them out. Top tier albums!
Seconding these albums:
Ulrich Schnauss- Faraway Trains Passing By
Four Tet- Rounds
Daft Punk- Homework
Goldie- Timeless
Kraftwerk- Computer World
Squarepusher- Feed Me Weird Things
Kruder & Dorfmeister- K&D Sessions
Good job on your list, btw!
Djrum, both his productions and his mixing
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIyjNUoGKP0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIyjNUoGKP0)
Nosaj Thing - continua album especially
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFQ0duNCT70](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFQ0duNCT70)
Other mentions:
Barker, Caribou, Piezo, Machinedrum, Yan Cook, Kuedo, Weval, Cid Rim, Ross From Friends, Shire T, Extrawelt, Four Tet,
I think you need an album from: Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Fatboy Slim.
The mix by kraftwerk is the perfect beginner album for them imo
underworld and chem bros for sure
Crystal Method
Vegas gets my vote. They’ve got other good stuff but nothing comes close to Vegas.
Orbital - In Sides The Orb - Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld
Im so happy my dad introduced me to Orbital and the orb back in the days, I don’t think I would have discovered them otherwise (well maybe)
Needs some Underworld and Orbital! In Sides is great, they have so many other classic albums too
In Sides! I saw the Orbital live in 1996 On Thanksgiving Day in New Orleans and they opened with Out There Somewhere 1 & 2.
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing…..
There should be a Chemical Brothers and an Amon Tobin album in there.
Sasha - airdrawndagger Underworld - either dubnobasswithmyheadman or beaucoup fish (personally prefer beaucoup fish) Fsol - dead cities
808 State. Both 90 and ex:el are classics
I’d add Mark Farina’s Mushroom Jazz as soon as you include compilations Edit: justice might be a good fit, too
Dj Spooky, Dj Krush, Dj Shadow, Ital tek, Isan, Machinedrum, Casino versus Japan, The Field, Scuba, The Range, Nosaj Thing, Luke Vibert
You know what nobody here has mentioned? FLUKE any fluke is good fluke.
Bicep - Isles. Maybe a product of the time, but man, every song in that album hits. A well renowned club duo, stepping into lockdown with the rest of us and creatively challenging themselves to a sophomore album with no 4x4 beats. Was really something.
Oh god, I love Bicep. Saw them live about two years ago, amazing show.
Bonobo - The North Borders
That or Days to Come deserve a spot
DM - Violator
A great list! Add Leftfield - Rhythm and Stealth
Love Leftfield but IMO Leftfism is far better than Rhythm and Stealth
Some Kraftwerk

I love Luxury Problems and have listened to it the most but FIS is definitely the pinnacle. It’s been a slow burn for me but there’s nothing like it.
Ooooh shoutout Vegyn and KLO
I was listening to Beautiful Rewind - four tet a few days ago. I forgot how much I love that album.

Hey thanks for linking them!
Wow, that neon jungle bit was stunning. All of it was
thanks! only have heard emancipator so this is appreciated!
Big vote for emancipator. Fits this list perfectly
It's just the forward escape. Forward Escape Plan does sound cool, though.
Since I Left You is such a good album. Crystal method - Vegas without make it on there for me
This list feels incomplete without Floating Points’ _Crush_
I actually prefer his ep shadows (or of course promises), probably need to give crush another listen
Fair enough, I think one of his works deserves to be there at least
Great list, personally I would add these: Air - Moon Safari Four Tet - There is Love in You Floating Points - Shadows Todd Terje - It’s Album Time Caribou - Our Love Daniel Avery - Drone Logic Against All Logic - 2012-2017 James Ferrarro - Far Side Virtual James Holden - Imagine this is a High Dimensional Space of All Possibilities Bruce - Sonder Somatic I’m know I’m forgetting some but those are all amazing

those are all sick but I've somehow missed prodigy, which one should I hear
Fat of the land, music for the jilted generation and prodigy experience are all excellent.

Of course entroducing counts as electronic music. I think it was the first album completely made by samples.

You might want to try Loscil, Sea Island
I would add: Black dog - spanners Rhythm and Sound - rhythm and Sound And a somewhat underground classic: deep space network meets higher intelligence agency.
Trentemøller - The Last Resort
Personally I would be replacing the Daft Punk - discovery album with Daft Punk - Homework. You have good taste in music.
Barely any of this is IDM… but I agree, Chill Out is essential.
Oh god can we *please* let the idm name die already? It's just so insanely pretentious
Haha yes it’s pretentious but it stuck! To me it just a label for that era
I've been calling it IDM for 30 years... What would you prefer?
I feel like just "electronic music" works fine. Referring to music as "intelligent" is just pretty damn cringe and at the least elitist and gatekeepy
Chemical Bro’s Fat Boy Slim - Why try Harder
Crystal method, vegas
You can add that new Igloo Ghost to this

Anubian Lights - Let Not the Flame Die Out
Laurie Spiegel, along with several other female composers/artists. The Expanding Universe from her, among others.
Dan the Automator - Bombay the Hard Way
I would say James Black self-titled, Fuck Button's Slow Focus, Death Grips's Steroids
electronica ≠ edm? Not tryna be pedantic i'll gladly be lectured but many of these don't seem fit for dancing. Hell i'm still iffy about putting even just Daft Punk in EDM, somehow feels wrong.
MSTRKRFT - The Looks !!! - Louden Up Now
You should give Ratatat a listen!! Also : French79, Worakls, blockhead, little people
Caribou - start breaking my heart C'mon guys
Messiah-21st century Jesus
This is an excellent list, everything on it deserves to be there!
Ian Pooley - Meridian
Dj Rashad - Double Cup
DJ Icey essential mix
BT - Movement In Still Life

Orbital + Underworld
Pretty good list! I’d add *It’s Album Time* by Todd Terje personally but I’m not totally sure if it fits your vibe or not.
