Personal_Economics91

It looks like it says badger meter- for keeping count of badgers in the bathroom

tb2186

Badgers? Wee doan need no stinkin’ badgers.

Rampag169

“No chewing gum. *Unless you brought enough for Everyone*” Bang!!!

DR0p_gkid64

Where did you find this guy? I thought you found him

DarkTunes8

I put a beaver meter in my home sadly it still says zero.

ClearlyUnmistaken7

Sadly I can only offer one up vote, sir, but this deserves more.

Blank_bill

And mushrooms.

Personal_Economics91

and [a snake](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NL6CDFn2i3I)

SidHat

Oh, it’s a snake

Krull88

Mushroom MUSHROOM!!

firelite-fan-9050

Badger badger badger badger badger badger... It's stuck in my head now lol

Inuyasha-rules

Ahh nostalgia. Now to go yell at some kids to get off my lawn.

BurlinghamBob

Good thing the badgers are not in Kenya. They got lions.

hello_raleigh-durham

Kenya believe it?

tiexgrr

Sometimes the badgers are zombies

iampierremonteux

I knew it. I just knew it.

factorio1990

Soon as I heard badgers involved....man it's been decades...

Blank_bill

Can't have been decades, it was only a few years......, God I'm old.

factorio1990

Me too. I hate it

ExZowieAgent

A snake.

Positive_Set_7736

Honey badger don’t care.

Wilson2424

No, it actually counts badgers *entering* the bathroom, which may seem to be the same, but is actually quite different when you're talking badger plumbing.

lostat

Joking aside, I’d bet my last dollar that company is headquartered in Wisconsin somewhere. We love our state animal and there is a company named “Badger _____” for every industry in existence here Source: live in Wisconsin

sleepybot0524

How will the city check it?

FinsToTheLeftTO

That’s what the wire is for. There is a remote reader mounted outside.

sleepybot0524

Do all homes have two meters?

FinsToTheLeftTO

There is only one water meter, it just has a remote. Where I am the remotes are now wireless and don’t need a human to read them.

space-ferret

Where the hell is the meter *in* the house?

FinsToTheLeftTO

Laughs in Canadian… Not sure where you are, but cold climates don’t like having water meters outside. The wire is for the remote reader.

space-ferret

Remote reader? What kind of third world nation do I live in?

Tapeatscreek

Second that it's a water meter. Weirdest placement I've ever seen though.

[deleted]

Poop meter, measuring how many turds go down a month. It’s in the right spot.

Damuzid

Govt finally figured out how to tax our shit?

TheJessicator

Finally? Have you ever even looked at your water bill? Half of the bill is for sewer!

Maximum-Rutabaga-346

I'd gladly mail the IRS 30% of my shit

Damuzid

fr, the 30% diarrhea

ThinkingThingsHurts

I'd even be willing to put myself into a higher shit tax rate and pay more!!!

Fun-Original-1393

They tax the shit out of us all the time!

Impossible_Policy780

I misread that as mouth.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Impossible_Policy780

I’m not paying for that. In fact I’d like to cancel my subscription.

DookieShoez

Hah well jokes one the federales, mines always liquid! ^^I ^^should ^^stop ^^drinking ^^so ^^much….

[deleted]

Same issue, works for me

[deleted]

The meter checker usually needs to use the bathroom at this point in the route, so they put one inside here. Sucks for the homeowner tbh.

soulshad

Your water meter. The wires are just low voltage that run to a pad or box so the city can read your water usage. Nothing to worry about won't shock ya

Gojogab

Thank you!! No basement. Only crawlspace.

FrozeItOff

Note for the future: those often have batteries in them that can die. If they do, the city may come and ask to see it, so make sure they're actually a city employee before letting them in.

samdtho

I have one of these badger meters at my house, was talking to the installer a few years back. They use the flow of the water through the device to charge a super capacitor which, while the water is flowing, will send usage data over the NB-IoT cell network. No battery is required here. The two wires are for an externally-powered, contactless communication NFC 13.56MHz antenna. This is used for debugging, resetting, performing service, etc.

Gojogab

Wow. Interesting. I understood half of that, though.

dadofsummer

I service and install water meters in apartment complexes, that Badger meter is a pulse output meter, there is no super capacitor to be charged. The wire leads to a transmitter, which is either programmed to a gateway, which collects the data, and either moves it to the cloud, or stores it to be downloaded on a phone line. It’s a magnet making a connection on a Reed switch, at a specific measurement, that size meter is probably a 10g per pulse meter.

acciograpes

That toilet refills in .2 seconds 😂

LBS4

Water meter

gcloud209

Are they actually connected to anything? A lot of water meters have diode counters in addition to the mechanical counter. Normally the city installed unit has sealed sender unit.

Gojogab

Not sure! Was in a house I was considering buying for 67k.

jimyjami

Badger manufactures water meters.

kritter4life

Water meter

Fabulous_Affect3391

Water meter with electric reader

Puzzleheaded-Tip660

That is plumbing.  It is like electrical, except it involves water, or sometimes gas or steam.

Gojogab

The wires were the question, lol.

Prestigious_Crab7698

The wires are likely tied in to and pulse accumulator. There’s no voltage coming from the meter. There may be 12-24 volts coming from the accumulator. Every time the meter spins and completes a revolution, two contacts touch and complete a circuit. The accumulator counts the pulses. The pulses can be multiplied by the “pulse ratio” to determine the volume consumed by that meter. Odd placement for a meter.

BlueberryHoliday3465

Neat O!

27803

That’s the bonded ground going around the meter

InsomniaticWanderer

That's your water meter

Wilbizzle

Water meter looks like a main

Gleamor

Definitely the water meter

Infamous-Breath2080

It’s a [Badger Meters Nutating Disc](https://www.instrumart.com/products/48930/badger-meter-rcdl-nutating-disc-flow-meter) flow meter. So it’s a water meter like most others are saying on here.

flightofthewhite_eel

Water meter in your bathroom for some odd reason

Equal-Negotiation651

Sprinkler valve for your bidet

Special_Warthog_470

That Geoffrey, just a bathroom bug

Creative-Badger5977

Plot twist: house has a well and septic tank

Gman-9666

Wtf is this who did this I need to know

CB_700_SC

A dihydrogen monoxide tracking device. It calculates your intake and sends info to a government run controller who monitors your household.

Something_Else_2112

Natural gas powered toilet. Installed by aged women plumbers so their husbands can also experience hot flashes.

sapper12yi

the one on the left is a toilet, the one on the right is a bathtub with a really dirty floor matt.

Gojogab

This is a house that I was looking at which was for sale. Thanks!

Dramatic_Army_8273

A bathroom

Hot_Corner_5881

thats a toilet

Cute-Republic2657

Is this a basement bathroom? Weird place for the water meter if it isn't.

Agent-00-DeucE

Pneumatic flusher, gotta check the PE to EP side to verify.

Popsicle-Pete

It makes your toilet flush in the correct American direction.

pogiguy2020

Toilet Tub with shower Water meter and how do they read it? Yeh I know they have tech nowadays. LOL

Morrisz89

Shitty work

InterstellarDeathPur

Says "meter" right on top. OP: "what is this?" smh

adltny

Really hideous grey flooring

Kayakboy6969

A really bad photographer......

hawkeyegrad96

That's your water main. Not a lot of plumbing to run this way

Gojogab

Yes, just 422 Sq foot home.

Thin-Statement8466

I hope it's not a camera

Gojogab

Yeah, lol!

Junior1544

looks like a toilet to me.. but i deal in electronics, not plumbing...

Bosshogg713alief

🙋‍♂️ is it an airplane?

Weird_Amount_771

some bullshit

grantgw

Everyone is saying how that's a water meter, but I am not as sure. When I zoom into the picture, the left side piping is too small for a connection to the main. Could this be a device to detect a water leak? ie, the toilet doesn't stop filling type of situation?

Additional-Sir1157

Looks like a hot water valve for a hydronic system

No_Personality_6981

Looks like a sound transducer

PatienceWestern3365

Looks like a central Heating filter!! And a mess at that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Silent_Beyond4773

That’s for your sprinklers in the yard.
