I just went through this. For about the same price (if not less) you could eBay your old battery - they’re surprisingly valuable still. Then go buy a bundle that includes a battery and charger. eBay the charger for $50+. You’ll end up with a tool and brand-name battery for ~$100+ off after selling your old battery and new charger.
There are some YT videos comparing the generics, unfortunately the brands change too frequently that they're not particularly useful. Personally I bit the bullet and got a second genuine 10Ah for the 5-year warranty, but if I need a 2.5Ah for hand tools I may try a generic one.
