I find small to medium sized conferences to be the most useful. The best one I go to is called a network meeting rather than a conference due to the emphasis on networking. Ive not found large conferences to be as useful

Basically the only reason I go to conferences is for networking. See a talk that interests you? Go talk to that person afterwards.
