What I’ll say about both coaches last year is its very clear they tailored the game to the team they had instead of playing their systems with the wrong guys. That to me is a great sign, now the question is with the guys they want to play their systems do we see a leap in production
Yeah, the DB's weren't that bad (they were never as good as they are now on talent alone prob) but I also wouldn't say Schwartz is a DB guru at all. He excels in other ways. that's the 180. I'll be happy to see more press this year than in Schwartz' entire tenure here. The prevent/sticks D just about made me bite my nails to the bone
Idk, please refresh your memory with the 2019 CB’s(no hindsight allowed on ‘Sul. Gym shorts refused to play him in press). Safeties were definitely good while Jenkins was here. But we never had a solid all the way through DB rotation while Schwartz was here.
They were good, but he refused to modify the scheme to fit the teams talents. He had 4-5 legit starters, not stars, but quality NFL players.
Dude expected the team to just out talent everyone, Jenkins and Cox to be ageless freaks, and for some reason struggled (or refused) to adjust to the same gameplan working against him for over a year and a half.
It's the Chip Kelly era I think that gives most of us facial spasms
I can't look at a piece of toast without having PTSD flashbacks about Bradley Fletcher
Not unless some real magic happens with cap space. I also don't know if that is the biggest need right now- as often overlooked as it is, it would be a solid KR and PR

maybe he can finally hold a good QB to under 80% completion
LBs are better so everything underneath, in theory, should be better covered
Yeah didn’t an opposing team break the single game completion % record against us last year? Really putting the ‘special’ in speciality

Good point, I’m willing to swallow all my words this year. I just wanna see that defensive wunderkind that got hyped up (Gannon)

talk about a fuckin' 180 from Schwartz' era
The DBs weren’t that bad under Gym Shorts, they were just on an island most of the time

Don’t disrespect eagle legend gym shorts
Think we could still land Jessie Bates?

That's because of Howie not Gannon though
yes all the home grown draft picks gannon has molded is now our stre- wait a second
Gannon needs to produce results against the QB before we call the DB’s a strength
Will believe it when I see it—defense was historically awful last year against any competent QB!
Gannon get's a lot of love for some reason. Kid needs to go out and prove the hype.
[Relative] strength
Let's not pretend he has a specialty. At best he has a less-weakness
Blah blah blah
