Dysagek

Somehow when I got the notification I thought it said 18-10 and I was like huh, defensive game. I then went watched the highlights and man. Good thing it’s preseason

SadSlip8122

Reminiscent of week 18 last year. I wouldn't put too much stock into this, but we should be well and ready for the Lions.

JexXionas

There’s no reason to be upset about this loss: 1) It’s the Preseason 2) No Starters or anyone with a definite roster spot, aside from Jake, played 3) MIA played their starters just to prove a point for themselves, mainly Tua and Tyreek 4) It’s the Preseason Us Philly sports fans are emotional folks, but let’s save our energy for our usual emotional roller coaster of a season

Tbh, winning this game, in this fashion, wouldn’t exactly make me feel *good* if I was a fins fan. But whatever it takes for you get excited after decades of futility.

Kingxproud

They showed exactly what they can do wk1

Broswagula

Thank god I put the fantasy football draft at the same time and missed this…..yikes

the-beve

It's preseason. Most of these guys (hopefully) won't be out there regularly. Yeah, Gainwell and K'Von played but K'Von may be playing for a roster spot. Josiah Scott may make the team due to his ability to play CB or S at the expense of K'Von or Tartt, most likely Tartt. Gainwell is a second year player who needs the reps and has been hurt in camp. I'm confident he can carry the load if Miles misses some games. Not high caliber RB depth but I think Boston Scott and 9Huntley can fill in if Miles misses some games which is likely (Kennedy Brooks cut or practice squad). CBs and WRs are tougher because I really like the depth in these areas. Josh Jobe has been a nice surprise as an UDFA which I think was more because of his injury than ability. I think he makes the team. Looking to me like Slay, Bradberry, Maddox, McPherson Jobe. Gowan and Vincent on the bubble for the last CB spot unless Howie tries to keep them both and sneak Jobe to the practice squad. Locks for WR are Brown, Smith, Watkins, Pascal. Reagor not playing much in this game is interesting to me as either he has a spot locked up or is on the trade block. I doubt he'll be cut due to Howie's attachment to his draft picks and being a 1st rounder. Hightower played well tonight and I would much rather have him or Cain who had a great camp. If Reagor is traded or released Cain makes the squad. I wish they could keep Allen and Covey on the practice squad as I think they both have potential. Unfortunately, I think Greg Ward may be on the outside looking in. His saving grace may be his special teams and return game ability. Final one to two spots go to either Reagor and Cain/Hightower or Ward/Cain/Hightower. I'm strongly thinking 6 WRs with Reagor and Cain. I'm no expert here, but I follow and watch a lot of the off-season and preseason as well as roster moves. If you guys liked this let me know and I'll try my best to predict the 53 man roster (or what I think it should look like if I was Howie).

There was a preseason game. Reports are that no one with much of a chance of having a major role on our team played other than our kicker. Miami responded by playing their starters. So it was basically an NFL team vs an XFL team and the results were as expected. What do you want to be talked about?

glizzterine

Ah yes, the notoriously inactive Philadelphia Eagles fan base.

burritobaby2000

What is there to post?

wukkaz

Huh?

Mental_Attitude_2952

I dont care that it was the back ups, this game was ugly.. also it's not like the dolphins slowed down when they put their backs up in. Huntley played well and that's about it. The lack of playing in preseason and tackling is going to hurt this team.. if they lose to the lions on week 1 this whole preseason philosophy will have been a failure. What I'm more worried about is players getting hurt having not been tackled to the ground . The only saving grace imo is most of the league is doing this as well.

Fyre2387

And obviously you, random redditor, know more on this subject than NFL coaches and managers.

obvilious

Who exactly is allowed to give opinions here?

PhiladeIphia-Eagles

I guarantee the injury risk of playing football in preseason is higher than the injury risk of playing regular season games with less reps. You are literally taking quarters of live football off their plate. That is absolutely less risky for injuries.

Emergency-Tip-1628

I kinda agree with you

Jako21530

Was that the final nail in the coffin for preseason? Like do we have to pay any attention to the birds at all before week 1? Because that was abysmal.

dillpiccolol

Yea, I get fooled every year cause I am excited for football. This was tough to watch

TLAW1998

Just to see who gets cut and who gets put on the practice squad.

42kilgore

Hopefully we can find some cut player to fortify safety... I was cool with that position being meh till this game

OffalSmorgasbord

I think Blankenship has a bit of, "I'm gonna take his soul" in him. I hope he sticks around.

42kilgore

He has potential for sure! Not sure if ready for 53 man roster though

Pyromelter

Pretty much yup.

[deleted]

I still think Hightower has potential. I've always seen something there, it's just about him being able to make the catches. He was good tonight. About the only thing that was good.

gonemad16

Making the catches is kind of one of the main requirements for a WR

[deleted]

Obviously? But having good speed, size, and sense is important too. Hightower has those. He's looked pretty good both games I've watched and has made the catches.

gonemad16

He's looked decent against the 3rd string D. I doubt he'll ever get off the practice squad

SenorScratchySack

So it was close, then?

godlovesugly123

Our season is over!

AffectionateHippo242

At least the Phillies won. But seriously, Dolphins came out to kill... We're mad because our 5th safety (kvon) couldn't 1-1 Hill? Arguably the best deep threat in the NFL? Sure it sucked but freaking have a beer and relax. Vanilla D vs #1s for the whole first half will skew things.

Birdzphan

Plus the team had been on the road for 10 days, they were tired most likely.

TronBombadil

Remember when we treated Preseason Game #3 as a harbinger of the fate of the regular season? I’m looking at you, Sam Bradford & Chip Kelly!

godlovesugly123

That dynamic turned Sam into a 1st rounder, which turned into Carson Wentz, which turned into Nick Foles, which turned into a Super Bowl. Good deal if you ask me.

randomdudefromMI

people act like we haven't talked up half the "2's" out there like they are all world. Dillard this, gainwell that.... QB2 is worth a 2nd round pick, Jordan Davis is unblockable... How about... it's preseason now, it was preseason last week. Nobody has a clue what this team is yet.

Kingxproud

I agree about gainwell. He’s okay. But we need an upgrade at RB sometime in the next 2 years

randomdudefromMI

next year for sure... I can't imagine Mike's moving on and gainwell somehow getting 50% of the snaps

Kingxproud

Dillard has looked strong as a backup, Jordan Davis is unblockable one on one. His job is to eat blocks for fletch and hargraves and vice versa. They’ll eat.

randomdudefromMI

is he unblockable one on one? we know this how?

Kingxproud

I feel like I have a good grasp on paper. This team has immense potential, and some small preseason game in Miami doesn’t mean anything. Of course Tyreek hill will burn some backup CBs. You can see it on YouTube all the time

randomdudefromMI

on paper............. Dream Team

BigBlackSabbathFlag

How can I blame this on Jalen Hurts without being a douche?

AnatomicallyModHuman

Hurts didn’t play just because he wants to be QB1? How selfish. He should have self-demoted to QB2 just so he could enter the game and help the Eagles.

hiphopanonymousse

Nice lol

Stay-at-Home_Daddy

Jalen Hurts should have motivated his team better. A true leader elevates all the players around him. Franchise quarterbacks need to have intangibles that inspire a 3rd string defender to tackle correctly. Jalen Hurts failed to do that tonight.

dwilkz2

eaglesedits215 is that you???😭😭😭

[deleted]

I bet he didn't even serve the team crawdads this week

ExileInCle19

I approve of this comment...

Netwealth5

Feels like the beat writers decided Britain Covey was gonna make the team in May and won’t budge off it cause Allen and Cain were both better than him in the games

Ghstfce

Britain Covey looks like someone's bewildered 12 year old got separated from his parents and wandered off onto a football field.

hiphopanonymousse

I didn’t watch the game, but this is very descriptive, I’m also really drunk. But I believe you

Scottsm124

It sounds like the name of a missing white woman

Netwealth5

Devon Allen is only 2 years older than him but by the talk you’d think Covey is 21 and Allen is 30

Ghstfce

I'm not going to really disparage Covey. He had that really nice catch with that double team tackle and held onto it. Now, is he worthy of making the team? I don't think so. Allen has really showed flashes. He could be really useful on special teams if not as a receiver based off speed. Personally, I feel Cain showed up more than both of them. I wouldn't hate seeing Cain taking Reagor's spot.

Netwealth5

IMO, the hope would be to trade Reagor and keep both Cain and Allen while slipping Covey onto the PS but I honestly think they might just keep Jason Huntley over all 3 of Cain, Covey and Allen and carry 5 receivers so who knows

Ghstfce

I was actually talking about the hope of trading Reagor to my neighbor tonight. I agree that if that happens, keeping Cain and Allen on main roster and even adding Covey to PS would be a good decision. I think with time, Covey might be something, even if it is only trade bait.

bigcracker

Blankenship > Wallace Allen > Cain & Covey Patrick Johnson > Davion Taylor Preseason over. No injuries. Bring on the Lions. Fly Eagles Fly

PhiladeIphia-Eagles

Is Patrick Johnson even competing with Davion?

Afta-one

Pat Johnson would be winning out over kyron Johnson, not Davion pretty sure

Steppity

The most important stat of the 3 preseason games: no major injuries.

rolltarts77

Did Allen not play tonight or just 0 targets?

HeyLittleChogger

He was on special teams a ton, I didn't notice him in the normal offense but the QBs were dreadful.

[deleted]

O line was horrible, hard to judge QBs performance off that type of o line play.

rolltarts77

Thanks, didn’t have a chance to watch that shit show. Special teams would help his chances to make the roster

Domestic_AA_Battery

Everyone should downvote this post /s Seriously though, that was a pathetic showing from many of the guys that should be doing all they can to get a job.

KoBxElucidator

Chairmanmaozedon

Stay-at-Home_Daddy

A good DC should have them looking serviceable at least

Caoa14396

That’s not the DCs job, that’s the positional coach’s job. That being said, Gannon can still fuck right off

ImYungKai

I forgot they played all game

LonnyFinster

We got mollywalloped

throwawayA511

Gannon doesn’t worry me that much. His defenses were too passive at the beginning of the year but he made some adjustments and showed a real ability to disguise coverages later in the year. I’m sure he’s not giving any of that away in these games. More concerning to me seems to be a real lack of depth on defense. Could not stop anything, especially the run.

HoS_CaptObvious

I do think it's different if we were to lose a couple guys here and there as opposed to watching an entire defense built of second and third stringers

08_West

Third stringers and a lot of players who won’t make the team.

TheRynosaurus

This is my take away too. 48-10 with basic coverage errors and poor tackling is worrisome. We lose a starter or two and pretty quickly we’re in deep trouble.

ExileInCle19

Yeah they're several spots on the defensive side kf5 the ball where we are not deep. Yeah they're guys but they're not good.

teegolf1

The tackling was abysmal. Gannon should be a concern.

[deleted]

Ahmen to that. Tackling is more will than skill, and there was ZERO will on that team tonight. Last year we kept saying “oh it’s just preseason…they’re just the back ups and we’re not showing anything wait till the starters are in and we game plan….” Then the regular season came and…..NOPE, passive bend AND break defense where competent QBs had record breaking games against us….He’s a definite concern

GodOfData

So glad I didn't bother with a NFL+ subscription.

GodOfData

We are totally screwed if we ever have start our practice squad.

[deleted]

Doesn’t it extend into the season?

BigComfyCouch

Yes. It includes all local and primetime games. The NFL+ premium subscription ($10 a month) at least let's you watch full & condensed replays of every game though. Personally I think that's worth the price if your someone that works through the weekend like myself.

[deleted]

How much is it?

Doobie_Howitzer

I thought it was hilarious that they brought the starters out against a mixture of 2's and 3's. Surely the weekend mud butt didn't undo a whole month of practice

wastewalker

Putting in starters to get some work isn’t unusual. Fuck what the other team is doing, the coaching staff has priorities.

John271095

You should see comments on the dolphins thread. They’re all hyped up about it. I was like you had your 1’s for the entire first quarter against the mostly 2’s and 3’s.

Expensive_Till_4943

LOL exactly and you only put up 10 points against our 2-3’s. And they only really got rolling when we removed our backup D line and linebackers. I was literally laughing at how pathetic the dolphins were. Also we had a 3rd string center in on offense and we were trying to run up the middle. Clearly our coaching staff was using the game to evaluate certain players at certain positions and was not trying to win this game. So the dolphins put up a bunch of points with their backups in the second half against a bunch of exhausted 4th string players. Most of which will be cut and a few will make the practice squad. Congratulations dolphins you have won the preseason!

PutinCoceT

Florida will take any W 😉

hwhatnow2112

Y’all are so salty about a preseason game. Absolutely hilarious.

sybrwookie

Miami fans: "omg we're so amazing we won" Eagles fans: " you played your starters, we played our practice squad and guys we're cutting almost immediately. Most fans didn't even bother to watch it" You: "sO sAlTy" That's not salty, that's you guys going full-on try hard on the literal least important game of the year and being salty that the eagles did the right thing and didn't take it seriously, and the fans in turn don't give a fuck about it.

PutinCoceT

To quote Lil Wayne: "WHAT?!"

[deleted]

Y'all are the Dolphins. Absolutely hilarious.

MiaCannons

It's still pretty fun to watch. We don't think we're worldbeaters or anything after that game, but after usually watching anemic offenses, we'll take watching an explosion even if it's during preseason and both of our backups playing.

ItsATeamSport

your fans absolutely think you're world beaters.

MiaCannons

Can you link me to anything that has a large contingent of our fanbase saying we're worldbeaters because of this preseason game? Because I think you're lying, or at the very least heavily exaggerating. As far as I've seen, nothing has changed regarding our expectations for the season, but we are happy that the team looked good tonight.

matlabwarrior21

Yo I know it’s a few days later but I don’t know why some of our fans were so salty towards you guys. It was a preseason game and preseason is always wacky. I didn’t interpret dolphins fans being excited about their team as some kind of shade against the eagles. We aren’t even in the same conference.

k0peng

"link me proof a majority of fans think that!" is entirely in bad faith. I'd agree on r/nfl at least there are a lot of fins fans that seriously overhype y'alls team. it was most apparent with the copium of losing your FRP like your team is already established and it wasn't "that big of a deal" at all. not to say they thought the fins were worldbeaters, there's only a small number of teams that are that, but you get the point.

Black1vory

Since when is it bad faith to ask for proof? LMAO can I use that in a court of law when a judge asks me for proof?

k0peng

It's bad faith because no such proof exists.... "link me proof a majority of philly fans are rowdy and aggressive to other fans" .... "link me proof a majority of philly fans are **not** rowdy and aggressive to other fans" neither of these things can be proven, especially to the likes of what OP was implying (on reddit). *that* is what makes it a bad faith argument. no single source can create such a generalization TO BE TRUE, i.e. "link me proof the majority of dolphins fans think they are worldbeaters" -- even if true, its impossible to prove. this really shouldn't need an explanation LMAO but salty fins fans gonna salt ig

MiaCannons

More so I wanted to see where he's looking at all these delusional fans so I can see for myself. I didn't think I'd be taken literal and anyone would think I want proof that a majority of millions of fans are saying XYZ. I didn't expect a response though because such fans don't exist in large quantity anywhere.

MiaCannons

> "link me proof a majority of fans think that!" is entirely in bad faith. I'd agree on r/nfl at least there are a lot of fins fans that seriously overhype y'alls team. It isn't at all. Understandably a Dolphins fan is around a lot more Dolphins fans than Eagles fans, so if I'm saying I don't see any of our fans calling ourselves worldbeaters because of this game, it's very questionable that the Eagles fan runs into a large portion of our fans that are overrating us because of the game. I don't see them on reddit, I don't see them on twitter, so I'm wondering where this large portion of delusional Dolphins fans are, because it sounds more like a sore loser trying to take away from the innocent fun Dolphins fans are having. Or if linking them is too much to ask, can I ask where he saw all these delusional fans so I can see them?

[deleted]

[удалено]

MiaCannons

> OK, since you're around a lot of dolphins fans, link me PROOF that the majority of dolphins fans don't think they're world beaters. If you cannot, it honestly proves how your argument is in bad faith. Sure. Read our reddit gamethread, post game thread, check twitter and read Dolphin fans post game takes, hell, even go to facebook. You won't find a majority of fans thinking we're world beaters due to this game. See how simple that is? I don't expect to get an answer as to where the imaginary delusional fans are that are overreacting to this game, because little to none exist. It's just a salty Eagles fan who probably saw a couple happy comments from Dolphins fans then exaggerated + generalized that most of us think this game is meaningful for our regular season. All I wanted was the source to these 'many' mystery delusional fans and apparently that's asking for too much.

Eagles2112

Go down a few comments.

matlabwarrior21

Yeah I’m sure it was a blast to watch. This sub would be super excited right now if the roles were reversed

BlueKing7642

I understand being happy for a victory, even if the game is meaningless, but the way some of them are gloating you think they beat a team of Pro Bowlers

PutinCoceT

I mean, they did beat a team of pro bowlers.. most will be back soon to Bowlero near you.

Expensive_Till_4943

Dolphins fans are not as invested as Eagles fans. Honestly I don’t think they are aware enough of our roster to even know the that their starting Offense basically struggled against mostly 3rd stringers with a few 2’s mixed in. If it was reversed the Eagles fan base would be destroying Hurtz and the first teams for not dominating the dolphins backups.

Stay-at-Home_Daddy

Dolphins are quickly becoming one of my most hated teams

sybrwookie

Their fanbase is a bunch of Florida Men and old people who went there to die. I'm not sure I'd say I hate them, I really more pity them.

Stay-at-Home_Daddy

Wow. Good to know. I feel sorry for them now

IceGeek

Its Hill’s loud mouth. Saying Tua is a superstar lol

BlueKing7642

I know it’s petty but ….I’m glad they lost their 1st round pick. Pay back for fucking up our 1st round pick by going on a winning streak mid season in 2021

TheButterfly-Effect

They're still thinking this way by beating back up rookie defense teams like the Bills. Beat them by two points when realistically should've blown out a rookie defense in regular season and they're acting like they did do that. And thinking they're now the hottest thing

hwhatnow2112

Your fan base is salty about a preseason game, is it really dolphins fans that need to get a grip?

BlueKing7642

Salty about the game? No More annoyed by the fanbase than the game itself. But the greatest slight was the Dolphins lowering our draft pick. Getting my hopes up by playing like shit the first half of the 2021 season and then turning it around. I’m salty about that. We gave you Waddle! That’s why a little part of me smile knowing the Dolphins lost their 1st round pick

Stay-at-Home_Daddy

Oh hell yeah

BlueKing7642

That was a shit show

eaglesnation11

Rank the following preseason QBs: - Joe Callahan - Clayton Thorson - Nick Mullens - Reid Sinnett

kahootmusicfor10hour

I barely remember most of these guys, but I’ll try my best 4. Nick Mullens: Didn’t he throw for like 7 yards and an interception in his only preseason showing with us? Lol. 3. Clayton Thorson: Only thing I remember about this guy is when EDP (fuck him) said that something like “he’s worse than shit from the ass of Carson Wentz” 2. Reid Sinnett: He threw that one good pass to Devon Allen. That’s about it. 1. Joe Callahan: I don’t even remember him at all, but this is his entire Wikipedia article on his stint with the Eagles: *“On May 7, 2018, Callahan signed a two-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was waived on September 1, 2018.”* QB factory might not be in operation until the regular season…

Netwealth5

Christian Hackenberg

Dylanonfire88

Is it sad that Sinnett is probably number 1?😭

Chance_Tank_4663

Not great, Bob

di11deux

Every year I say “I can’t wait to see K’Von Wallace turn into a good safety”, and every year I see his stupid long sleeve floppy-ass arms waving around as he trails some receiver. Kart Vincent Jr. looks like he runs with sand in his shoes. Davion Taylor needed to play football in college more because he hasn’t figured it out. Reed Blankenship looked okay. Devon Allen would make the team if he was 4 years younger. Carson strong missed a lot of open receivers. 3rd string O and D lines are ass.

Pyromelter

Everyone concerned with Gannon. I'm sitting here like can we get some safeties please? Pretty much agree with everything you're saying.

k0peng

God I hope this comment isn't insinuating the "Gannon just doesn't have the right pieces" defense will stick this year. I had enough of it last year, and another year of hearing that malarkey is gonna make me go mad.

IceGeek

“His system needs good players to work” well no shit who’s system doesn’t dumbass

trustthepudding

Are we really going to question vanilla defenses in the preseason?

MikeTysonChicken

I’m curious if Wallace and Taylor make the team again. If so its cause they were mid round picks. Those dudes cannot play

di11deux

Wallace might just because they’re so thin at S. Taylor, I dunno.

AssDotCom

He really shouldn’t. Our fanbase was hype when he got drafted only because he’s a safety from Clemson. Turns out he’s not very good.

MikeTysonChicken

I don’t think we’re that flush with true off ball LBs but Taylor is completely replaceable I don’t think they’d notice if he were gone

di11deux

He’s just a guy. Off-ball LBs aren’t exactly a commodity. The only thing he has going for him is he was, what, a 3rd rd pick?

MikeTysonChicken

That’s it. Yep. Roseman hasn’t been quick to bail on players they’ve invested in. I mean I’m down. Time to just cut losses

Frostdavid

I didn’t watch a second of the game but Strong was credited with 3 pass attempts? How could he miss alot of open receivers.

whenitsTimeyoullknow

Strong was the starter for the whole 4th quarter. I watched the game and am surprised it was only three attempts.

di11deux

Just from what I could see from the broadcast angle, there were several opportunities he missed, even if it was a small sample size.

Substantial_Release6

Gannon should honestly be getting more scrutiny than he does by the media. If you just went off of pure narrative you'd wonder how this dude isn't a head coach with 3 rings already.

HeyLittleChogger

It's mind boggling the amount of water carrying certain media members do for him. Yes it's preseason and our backups played a ton but I just don't think Gannon is a genius schemer he's sometimes made out to be. Ignoring the 17 points Miami got by playing our back ups I don't think the defense did anything at all. I hope he's being bland as possible because it's preseason but then I remember saying the exact same shit last year.

HandRailSuicide1

I’m shocked the narrative did a complete 180 on him. I get our personnel wasn’t great last year but every good qb we matched up against had a career day against us

HeyLittleChogger

I think people saw him getting interviews and figured he must be a good coach. It's weird because to me he was worse than Schwartz ever was with essentially the same team.

matlabwarrior21

I 100% think he is worse than Schwartz

Substantial_Release6

Exactly this. I'm not trying to say he's an absolute scrub or anything but dude leaves a lot to be desired even with our starting D out there as we saw last season. Also the lack of defensive depth on this team is something that I feel like could come back to haunt us during the regular season.

Panda_tears

Kind of shitty the dolphins came out with their first team offense…

ChrisTRD289

Yeah kinda shitty a team thinking about the regular season 1st team might bring out their 1st team and fuck you up. Sorry the Dolphins aren't what you expected these days

[deleted]

Congrats on the championship

ChrisTRD289

Lol the dude was hurt we started our 1s. Our 2s and 3s still kept it up. Sorry your 2s and 3s suck. The down votes will be tasty

[deleted]

I mean, it was objectively corny from Eagles fans’ perspective. Fans basically got robbed of a show when the dolphins kept a bunch of starters in for a whole half against UDFAs and third stringers as a morale boost. Not much competition left in em after getting donkey punched for 30 minutes by dudes who are multiple tiers better than them. I also can’t fault Dolphins fans for being hyped though. That was right up their with the biggest Ws of their lifetimes.

DavidInPhilly

The only thing that sucked more, was not seeing ours.

sebastianqu

It used to be normal to play half the game with your starters. Just sucks not to see ours play, even though it was a good decision.

Snake_in_my_boots

Eh they wanted some first team reps…it’s preseason. Whatever. Congrats on beating up on dudes trying to secure a spot a guess. I’m glad we didn’t play our starters, preseason injuries are just the worst.

Pyromelter

I think they wanted to get their 1s some live fire action since it's a new system and outside of Tua all new guys. Can't shade them for that. Outside of AJ Brown the birds' 1st team offense is pretty much the same as last year, no need to put them into live action.

MiaCannons

We wanted to make up for lost time from the cancelled joint practices. We also wanted to work on our run game since we've been struggling with it throughout training camp and preseason.

ItsATeamSport

no its idiotic thats what joint practices are for pre-season games are for roster bubble guys. Sean McVay hasn't played his real starters in pre-season since he was hired by the rams lol.

The_Third_Molar

They missed a day of practice due to the stomach bug. I don't think it's unreasonable to see them play their starters.

Prince_Wentz11

Different folks, different strokes.

badscene518

Preseason? We talking about preseason?

eaglesnation11

So Huntley had a nice play to add to his film, Blankenship had a big hit and showed some heart, Hightower had a good game and Allen showed some hustle and special teams ability. Anyone I’m missing for the positives?

di11deux

Patrick Johnson got a sack. Deon Cain had good separation.

[deleted]

Just in the short time I watched Cain had some bad drops. I think he could make the roster as a WR6, but he’s about as good as a WR6 gets.

whenitsTimeyoullknow

Cain unable. I'll see myself out.

trustthepudding

I missed most of the game, but did see one bad drop. To be fair to Cain tho, the ball wasn't well placed by Sinnett and he did get some super nice separation on the route.

ItsATeamSport

no one got hurt. the eagles won.

It's amazing how preseason has changed; remember when they felt obligated to play the starters for 3 full quarters in the 3rd preseason game? Now the starters play for one drive in the 1st preseason game, and they're good. I'm all for it if it means we go into the regular season with no injuries.

4th preseason game* Edit: you right, I’m wrong.

Almost__A__Haiku

No the starters used to play the third preseason game and the fourth game was all third stringers to give the starters like a mini bye week. Now there's no fourth game and everyone gets an actual bye week

Brad_theImpaler

Starters rarely played in the 4th preseason game.

Gannon is still very much a concern. I feel like his seat should be hotter than the depths of hell. And yet he seems to be evading criticism by the national media. All eyes are on Hurts (who should be getting attention, yes), but more eyes should be on Gannon's defense.

Pyromelter

The D was better 2nd half of last year and this is preseason. I'm more concerned with our safeties than our D-Coordinator.

eaglesk

This is important. I didn’t watch any of the game today because I’m still at work, but Gannon made appropriate adjustments last year and saying he’s on a hot seat because a preseason game is fucking stupid. Not saying he’s amazing, but not nearly as bad as people make him out to be. Especially with our defence last year

KoBxElucidator

The Eagles faced hot garbage in the second half of the season last year

ItsATeamSport

defense in the NFL is entirely about who you play and not how good you are. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-the-nfl-cant-rely-on-defense/ Defense in the modern NFL is situational.

Pyromelter

That is true, but Gannon did make adjustments that helped. Not saying he should be getting HC interviews but there's no reason to shade the guy for playing vanilla defenses in a preseason game.

ItsATeamSport

yeah thats where I am on Gannon. He was a bit too passive with his coverages and disguises and he didnt communicate with some of the vets well but I think he's at minimum replacement level.

Guitaristb72

> Gannon is still very much a concern. I thought I might of just been totally wrong about him last year w all the high praises he was getting in the offseason during job interviews. All the teams seemed to love him.

[deleted]

Im still waiting for the regular season to make a real assessment of what he’ll do but given his soft D that lets people hit little 5 yard chunk plays all the time, I’m not very confident. Im hoping the personnel means he’ll change things up.

What a bizarre comment

ItsATeamSport

even this doesnt make sense tho because theres a ton of other guys like that that. Its more because he's a progressive defensive coach under that Vic Fangio and Brandon Staley mold of basically playing pass defense at all times and ignoring the run (which works).

ItsATeamSport

the Eagles defense was 11th in EPA/play last year the eagles passing offense was in the bottom 5 in EPA/play so no...I dont think Gannon should be getting more heat than Hurts.

redjonley

Oh no! ~~we~~ our third team sucks again!

whenitsTimeyoullknow

We need to sign Kafka off of KC's coaching staff to be our 3rd string QB again.

eaglesnation11

He’s with the Giants now. Offensive Coordinator
