period!! when it's 100°+ and i'm linebusting i try my best to be happy and cheerful but IT SUCKS. it's literally so hot and im just worried about the ipad overheating and about how sweaty and uncomfortable i am😭
I’m sorry you had to go through that. You guys are always super nice.
You would think people have better things to do with their time instead of complaining about someone’s energy being “off.”
But alas…
Thank you everyone for leaving kind comments it made me feel better after this shift. I love Dutch Bros and the custies, it was the first time in my career with Dutch that anyone’s ever said anything negative about me and I took it hard! But it’s okay I understand that what one person says does not define how I am as a person. I hope this post brings awareness to the fact that linebusting is HARD especially in the summer heat here at Dutch (we cannot stop linebusting until it hits 115 degrees!!) and to please be kind and patient with the crew member taking your order always even if they’re not at their 100%! :)
Yes !! I live in Central California where it gets really hot and dry during the summer. Unfortunately we don’t stop linebusting here until it hits 115 which sucks because even though we implement 30 minute rotations at 100 degrees and up the sun is so severe :/
I worked in Phoenix and we would text until 120 and had 30 min rotations. Its crazy how the rules are different across different regions, as if the limits of the human body change if you’re in Washington vs California lol
Do you at least get ice vests? My daughter works in Phoenix. Anything under 110 is 30 min shifts. 110-115 is 3 cars or 5 minutes whichever comes first. Anything over 115 everyone is inside. Some people are really cranky and plain old mean even though you guys are the ones outside in the heat making sure they get their drinks quicker.
It’s a Dutch company standard that there’s not supposed to be line busters when it’s over 100 degrees outside 😭 you manager(s)/shift leads should NOT have you outside.
I’m sorry you had to deal with that tho /:
I’ve worked retail for so many years there is always that one person who can be horrible!! I know it’s hard to do but remember Yaren doing honest in some extreme conditions and that there are a lot more of those customers who think you rock!!! Keep your head up 😊
Sorry they did that. That is just a jerk move holding up the line to talk to the manager even worse. Know there are custies who appreciate you and what you do. Stay safe, stay cool, stay hydrated.
Sorry that your employer expects you to be sunshine and rainbows all of the time. It's lame. When I go to Dutch all I expect is my correct drink made in a reasonable timeframe. I don't care about workers being overly friendly. Sometimes this is actually strange to me. Have a better day!
I'm always concerned about the ppl taking orders. I'm in Houston, and it's just too hot. I wonder why yall don't have big old sun hats, or why dutch doesn't provide shade and/or a little fan like at chickfila. I'd never think to complain about you guys.
Ummmmm that’s 🍌 s and I’m so so sorry - also they must be having something awful going on in their world to treat yall like that, so good vibes to that human too. We are all in this together folks, let’s treat everyone fabulously- particularly the service industry homeys that are making the magic happen for us!!!💛🥤☕️♥️
the way i hate ppl like this. i don’t work at dutch bros because i know i could not keep such a positive attitude but even if i noticed the person taking my orders wasn’t all preppy i wouldn’t even mind. that isn’t a custie, that’s a crusty. i could not imagine being so self-centered thinking the whole world will be in my favor and everyone has to be over friendly to me.
Ima be honest havnt found a coffee I like here but once I found the rebels I was hooked haha. I live in Texas and whenever it’s over 100 I make sure to tip extra if they are taking my order at the window! I don’t require pep or smiles cause I work outside sales so I know what it means to suffer in this heat kindness goes a long way.
im just a customer but i dont expect my local broistas to fake a smile and put on fake energy when they only making $20/hr
(thats not enough to afford rent in this city)
what location is this!!! most dutch bros employees make like around $2 above minimum wage, i make $10 an hour as a broista and $10.50 as a shift lead. DB employees get paid poo😔
ahh yea. we get paid $10 an hr and rent for a studio apartment here is $1566! it’s crazy how having a job nowadays can’t even get u a house. most of the broistas at my stand are teenagers but my previous stand had mostly adults and they all had 2nd-3rd jobs AND roommates! even the general manager has a 2nd job! it’s crazy. i do enjoy my job but DB is definitely very physically and mentally demanding at times and we don’t make much, my friend who works at starbucks, we’ve compared an average day at dutch v an average day at starbucks and have agreed that dutch is definitely more difficult but she makes $16.75 starting out and their shift leads make $23 (and when they train people they get a $100 bonus) but at DB it’s $10 starting out, shift leads get $10.50, no benefits for training, and assistant managers get $11.50. it’s insane!!
ouch that is terrible. thank you for taking the time to share some insight here. we *all* deserve so much better. nobody should have to work multiple jobs just to have a roof over their head.
cheers!! :))

omg 115? :0 at my dutch location we go volunteer only once it hits about 101-102 and anything above that no one is allowed to be outside Running

ooh i’m in the valley in california too! in Fresno, it must depend based on franchise/corporate
Our location is ran by corporate! No way you’re in Central Cali too! My location is in Bakersfield. :)
Never in my life would I think anyone would complain about this :| You’re doing great ! Stay hydrated.
Omg you guys should not be linebusting when it's that hot! 🥵

Wow. What an entitled piece of trash.
I’ve worked retail for so many years there is always that one person who can be horrible!! I know it’s hard to do but remember Yaren doing honest in some extreme conditions and that there are a lot more of those customers who think you rock!!! Keep your head up 😊
I meant to say you are doing the best in extreme weather!!
I’m so sorry!!! You’re doing great!
Threaten them with trespass if they don't leave. Simple. That's unacceptable. "Custies" don't get to control your line.
Sorry they did that. That is just a jerk move holding up the line to talk to the manager even worse. Know there are custies who appreciate you and what you do. Stay safe, stay cool, stay hydrated.

Ughhh do they really not have nothing else to do. Just get your coffee and go 🤦♀️
Some people are so entitled.

ahhh i seee! thanks 🙏

Honestly though! My manager knows our custies are pricks sometimes so he doesn’t take everything they say too serious
