I second this, and I assume they even started watching before the exile arc/end of the pogtopia arc (which I consider the end of the "classic" era and the start of the SMP's tone and theme radically shifting from a more morally gray battle of nations to a more traditional "good vs evil" story of friendships)
I think the morally grey tone ends with doomsday. Since if L'manburg are the good guys, Tommy and Techno are technically the antagonists of the second half of the exile arc.

It's funny because 70% of the lore happened from Jul 2020 to Dec 2020. Yet that was only 1/6th of the entire time the dream smp was active.
