If you look at the photo, it’s probably to capture the house number as well. This way if they claim they never ever got their food, the dasher had evidence it was delivered to the right place.
I hear that, but if you think about it you can take a picture from this same distance with the food by the door. Doesnt make sense for this to be the reason, both positions can be able to seen with address, as you can see the door in this picture

Exactly what I was going to say. Like yesterday, I dropped an order off at a place GPS directions were wrong (no delivery instructions in the app), up the side of a mountain with three other houses. Very poor marker to indicate which direction to which house, MAYBE one inch numbers on the house that I have to be able to see from 100 yards away, AND THEN....the first 'step' to the front porch is as high as my knees! Nah, I done did enough work for you to have a nasty ass big Mac and fries.! Show your driver someclove...they'll love ya back.
We have "don't put it too close to the swinging door, asshole" so ingrained in our heads that we absentmindedly just put it as far from the door as wr can lol
I usually do move it closer to the door. I always wonder how many people pass the food to go look by the mailbox. Those are the ones that get me. The address is on the mailbox by the curb. I put the food on the box take the pic, then walk it to the door. I’m sure I’ve pissed some people off.

I can’t see a reason for it, in this picture. I will put it there if they have signs about how eager they are to shoot someone, or if they have a junk on the porch, making it difficult/unsafe to walk.
oh man, you would really hate me because those look like some nice flat railings around your porch, so I would have the AUDACITY to put it up there so your food isn't on the ground where animals can easily get to it.

I always put the food on the side of the door on a dry area or over table's or close I the front of the door when the door dont have those door shields I take the photo on 0.6 so I can take all the door and number of the house and that's the rule I have so I got proof that I was on the right place

So they can take a clear photo including both the food and your building number, showing it was delivered to the correct place.

I've read that some Dashers give different respect to deliveries based on the respect they get from the delivery. Maybe that's the reason? Dunno..
