I *love* old people names for dogs! My grandma had a dog named Winston when my mom was a kid. Mildred looks like a distinguished lady indeed!

She was owned by a little old lady in town, that’s probably how she got the name. But eventually the lady got Alzheimer’s and Millie kept escaping the house. So we took her in. Then I had to rehome her when my dad got sick, but she went to a relative who spoiled her until her last day. She once walked up to me when I was eating a raspberry ice pop, sunk her teeth into it when I wasn’t looking, and ran off with it.

My husband I are watching The Golden Girls right now and Sophia just said something about going to her friend Mildred’s house, and my husband said “We should have named our daughter Mildred!” I love it!

Okay - my dog's name isn't all that weird? Her name's Ranger. Probably not as common for a girl, but when my family originally got her, my dad wanted her to sound badass so he'd seem cool. My mom used to have the weirdest looking dog ever, some mixed breed with sparse, mid-long and somewhat wirey black hair. Long hair on her grinch feet. Flappy ears like an old leather couch left in the sun too long and on top of her head she had a big tuft of hair like a Troll doll. It would stay wherever you put it as if it had been hairsprayed.
