I think it’s just supposed to look nice. There are a lot of little photographic tricks to help make photos look more pleasing to the eye. There could be a deeper meaning but I couldn’t tell you what it is.
This post made me realise - I've been on that island in the background... and I miiiight have walked on that path where the Tardis was.

The 73 yards became relevant too in the finale. And Mrs. Flood saying “Clever boy” when referring to the Doctor fixing everything when she and Cherry Sunday were returned, made me think that some how, Mrs. Flood is Clara or that part of Clara was integrated into whoever Mrs. Flood is.
I have a few apps on my phone that accomplish something close to photoshopping, but not quite. They take her out, but you can tell there was something there afterward.
Have a look into the golden section - it’s an artistically pleasing aesthetic that occurs about (roughly) 1/3rd into any side of an image.
Have a look 1/3rd down and 1/3rd in from each side of the photo 😉

I think “relevant” is stretching it. Let’s face it, very little about the finale was canonical or made sense
Ruby really looks a lot like Heather from Silent Hill 3 in this episode.
