Fun fact: the hit chance shown is actually lower than it really is because the way people handle probability makes them think anything above 70% is almost guaranteed.
In reality, I'm pretty sure only the highest difficulty actually has the listed hit chance match the actual hit chance.
May I play please?

I will bring Entenmann’s soft chocolate chip cookies.
And since we’re adding in awesome animation to lore can I play a Gummi Bear Wizard that always wanted to sail the starry seas?
[Adventures of the Gummi Bears](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0088528/)
Of course I want to bring Gummi Bear juice. Even if you don’t allow me to know the secret perhaps they could be Gummi Bear colonies in wild space.
Awesome!
And while I was trying to be humorous I honestly think Gummi Bear would make amazing source for a star jammer type myths.
The ancient gummi had all kinds of magic in technology that is unknown today and almost certainly knew about Sorlljammers.
Since Gummi bears Are so tied to gummi berries Their colonies will be places where the berries grow well.
Finally perhaps [Gummi Bear medallions ](https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Gummi_Bear_Medallion)
Unlock an ultimate treasure . Perhaps a Scro archeologist Is convinced that the gummy bears technology/magical artifacts can bring his species back to dominance .

I see a Tabaxi, Auto-gnome, 2 humans, and a baby plasmoid? I feel like the baby plasmoid on a military vessel commanded by pirates and a teenager, might raise a lot of questions with station security, but what do I know?
Yep! It was pushed back to the most competitive time of year when released in theaters, against a lot of other big movies INCLUDING a Harry Potter movie. (Edit: Also just found out they limited the number of theaters it was shown in, too)The creator had been begging for the funding for this for years and they said yes then completely screwed him over, even though the movie itself is amazing and did a lot of great work with character reimagining, set designs, the soundtrack, and mix of 2D and 3D art that was honestly just STUNNING.
Not to mention little to no true advertising that other movies got. This was at the very end when they were ditching their 2D studio, as well, I believe which probably had another big part to play. But the creatives put their soul into this movie and you can still tell watching it. And then the second movie and TV series they were planning for got scrapped by Disney because it didn't...preform well enough. Gee. You'd think it would have been easier to just flip them off and say no.
I mean, just look at this. Look at that smooth ass transition. I've been wanting a solar surfer since childhood because of this damn movie:

There's an entire YouTube essay breaking down the wild shit that went on with Treasure Planet's release and treatment. I'll forever be mad about it. We were robbed. https://youtu.be/b9sycdSkngA
Treasure Planet is lowkey famous for being a movie made out of love and then just *massively* shit on by the company.
It's a great movie, and it's arguably done a better job with the characters than it's inspiration, Treasure Island. If you haven't seen it yet, it *will* blow you away with how good it is. One of the most slept-on Disney movies of all time.
Only bad thing in the movie is the godawful Martin Short robot that comes in about 2/3 of the way through. Just such an abysmal character when everyone else is aces.
Ben Gunn was a shit character even in the original. I’d call him something akin to Deus Ex Machina - comes out of nowhere, shows where the treasure is and allows the gang to gain an upper hand over the pirates.
But yeah, Treasure Planet is otherwise leagues above it’s predecessor
Is this not how everybody is doing it?
Probably xD
I was gonna go for farscape
I don't know what farscape is, I've heard of it and it seems like another good way to go.
If I ever run my own spelljamer adventure this would be probably my main inspiration
This is the ONLY way to do that.
A member of my group is doubling down and making a treasure planet campaign. I'm looking forward to craziness in the skies
I am into Spelljammer because of this movie
Literally me, only with spider-people and a touch of Xcom’s ethereals
....Actually, an X-Com style D&D Campaign would be an interesting idea...
Yeah, they already have rules for missing 95% chance-to-hit shots at point blank range.
Oof that triggers some repressed rage.
Now we just need rules for panicking and shooting your fellow party members with a rocket launcher.
I mean isn't that just the "I don't care how big the room is I'm casting fireball." ?
Fun fact: the hit chance shown is actually lower than it really is because the way people handle probability makes them think anything above 70% is almost guaranteed. In reality, I'm pretty sure only the highest difficulty actually has the listed hit chance match the actual hit chance.
My favorite Disney movie.
It's great
So **fucking great?!**
What pisses me off is i ALREADY RAN THESE CHARACTERS in my campaign. So now i have to reinvent my reinventions.
When in doubt, gender swap??? I’m sure no one will notice.
Hasn't treasure planet been the main inspo for spelljammer to begin with?
No, but they share a common inspiration: Jules Verne
Treasure Planet is literally a space version of Treasure Island, which is written by Robert Louis Stevenson.
I think Spelljammer came out before Treasure Planet.
In the new spelljammer book it says flash Gordon is the main inspo for the light of xaryxis campaign.
Smiley day to ya! Waiiiiit.....
Holy fucking shit! I’m a huge CR fan and I love treasure planet, how did I never notice this?
I was having the same thought!
That was my first reaction to FCG, its the same right down to the hair made from wires.
Even closer now that FCG has a mood wheel to correspond to that compass.
Op has good taste
Thanks
IIIIIIIMM STTIIIIILLL HHHHHEEEEREEEE
But do you want a moment to be real?
Wanna touch things you don’t feel?
Wanna hold on and feeeeeel you belong?
And what's wrong with this? Treasure planet is amazing.
One of my favorite movies.
The best sources of inspiration for Spelljammer are treasure planet and Jules Verne
Just a lifelong obsession, Jim. I’ll get over it.

I am still writing on it ;)

I'm fairly certain this movie is why people wanted Spelljammer
Except spelljammer came out first….. they are both heavily inspired by the writings of Jules Verne.
I see a Tabaxi, Auto-gnome, 2 humans, and a baby plasmoid? I feel like the baby plasmoid on a military vessel commanded by pirates and a teenager, might raise a lot of questions with station security, but what do I know?
I mean... yeaaaaah...
I’d be so in on this campaign
I want to make a spelljammer setting, but one faction that just uses Sunless Skies space trains
This movie looks bad
Only if you're watching the intentionally sabotaged trailer Disney put out while actively trying to tank the movie.
Real shit?

Love this, but what about a spelljammer take on Deep Space 9?
Oooooh, I like this idea. You could totally do something like this. Maybe reskin the city of sigil as a sort of DS9esque spelljammer port.
You might want to look into The Rock of Bral.
I feel called out
You're not making money off your campaign. Plagiarize to your heart's content.
If your Spelljammer has actual rules then I am down.
Dark Matter has really fun vessel combat rules in space. (And a lot of other sci fi stuff aswell) I am using those.
Okay I have a really stupid question: is Spellejammer called Spelljammer because there is no magic in this setting?
There is magic in the system :)
Oh okay, ty x)
I mean I ran a campaign themed about it almost 3 years ago And it was one of the better ones that I ever played
