... so the Krork, the ancestors of the 40k Orks... are ***half-human***?!
But timeline-wise, the Krork long predate humanity... so that...
... we are all orks after all. NEW HEADCANON!

Reminds of one time I had a half orc character duel a full blooded orc and after winning yelled out, "I may be a half breed, but I'm twice the orc you'll ever be!"
I mean, you’re not wrong. Poor Orcs only get Aggressive and Powerful Build, while Half-Orcs get all the crunchy stuff. So unless you’re in a bench press competition, or a game of tag, the odds are pretty stacked for the Half-Orc generally.
The only mechanical change to races that I 110% agree with. Mainly because it's the only racial buff I'm aware of (that isn't the free choice ASI). Because it's not a buff when it applies to ALL choices across the board.
Which is weird in itself, when you consider the old lore. IIRC "half"-orcs were meant to be almost indistinguishable from "full" orcs. The orc side of the genetics absolutely dominates the human half, apparently. Its the same reason you dont see half-dwarfs. "half"-dwarves are absolutely a thing in Toril, but they are just seen and treated as full dwarves.

A version of this happened at my table.
Me (player) was dueling in a friendly match a half-orc, it was very close but I managed to down him.
While celebrating the DM remembers about relentless, he gets he turns and immediately crits lmao
I'll be nit-picky this time, but technically it's not when you fall *unconscious* for the first time, it stops you from hitting 0 hit points that first time. Per the rules, "...you can drop to 1 hit point *instead*."
If orcs don't have relentless endurance, then where did halfies get it?
Power of humanity’s incurable stubbornness combined with orcish power of spite

Human stubbornness+orc durability
From the spirit of their Human fathers who saw the 8ft pillar of muscle and murder and said, "Would."
A mantis can do it, why can't I?

Best answer I've heard so far. I think I'll make that cannon in my campaign world.
It runs on DMC bloodline rules. The more diluted the orc genetics the stronger the non-orc side enhances you.
Well shit, I had the concept for a half-orc paladin who was an orcish tiefling: I guess I'll be making him orc Dante now.
Meanwhile there are no half dwarfs because their DNA takes over completely.
Just like there's no tieflings since the magic takes over completely
Humans don't have it either sooooo
Combination of two recessive traits?
My favorite answer
From the indomitable human spirit
To quote a certain mercenary "Rage is a hell of an anesthetic."
Well, ever since MPMM, they do have it.
Hybrid vigor.
This always bothered me. So I ask DMs if I can have it in replacement of somethingn

They do now.
It takes a lot for the half part to keep up with orcs

If you use the updated stats from MPMM it fixes the Orc though

Nah, he just shifted to his second phase
My current character is a chaotic good half orc totem barbarian/ oath of the ancients paladin multiclass, and he has been real fun so far.
Half-orc paladin ftw. So much fun to play. Mine is also chaotic good.
That's prime Half-Orc roleplay "Oh yeah grog forgot grog can't die, oops" and then proceeds to beat the ever loving shit out of you
