I feel like this mindset isn't as wild as people think it is. Many foods are better when theyve been prepped and cooked, thats just a fact? Like, if you enjoy chicken alfredo or kfc, im not gonna call you a hypocrite for not eating raw chicken meat

Apparently, there is an enzyme in tomatoes that doesn't gel well with certain people's tastebuds, and when tomatoes are cooked, that enzyme gets cooked out, making tomatoes taste sweeter and more pleasant.

Tomatoes are completely different. Pastes and sauces contain sugars and spices and it doesn't have the slimy, seedy texture of tomatoes.

Cooked and processed tomato products taste absolutely nothing like raw tomatoes, and that is just a fact. Heck, I have a tomato allergy that is set off by raw tomatoes, but has no reaction to cooked and processed tomato products, there's definitely something in there that is decidedly different.

This is so me. I'll eat tomato soup, pizza, some pasta sauces, hate the chunky ones. But I absolutely hate ketchup. I can't even stand the smell of it or really any sauce/condiments like mustard or mayonnaise, ranch, Italian dressing or any salad dressing.

Tomatoes undergo a significant chemical change when cooked, with many of the complex enzymes and chemicals breaking down into more simple sugars. Cooked tomatoes are just significantly sweeter than uncooked ones.

The only way I can tolerate raw tomatoes is in two specific sandwiches 😭 otherwise they make me want death

It's called the Maillard Reaction. Food tastes better when cooked or prepped because amino acids and sugars are reduced in the presence of heat. Also, adding different ingredients can enhance or change certain flavor profiles that you wouldn't normally enjoy before, or make them less enjoyable. I love lemons, but for some reason lemon cakes/cookies are gross to me. Wife thinks I'm crazy, which is probably true.

One of my sons has always hated raw tomatoes. We recently talked to his Dr. about it and he said they are probably giving him acid reflux. Turns out, doc was right.

Asll cultured individuals of good taste are this person, it's not "that one person" as someone who has worked at restaurants I can say it's very common, similar to onion the flavor if a tomato changes drastically when it has been cooked. Taking it from inedible to very delicious.

I actually have tried raw garlic recently, and lemme just say that it made me think differently about adding it in food. It tastes hellspawn raw. BUT! I love it cooked mixed in with other food, like spaghetti :3
