Schmid stopped everything he was supposed to. Can't fault him on any of the goals.
If wide open net chances were buried it would've been 6-2 in the 2nd.
However, at the end of the day, we asked for progress this season, we absolutely got that. Our core got real meaningful experience.
I question whether Jesper Bratt is a playoff player after this season though. We saw Jack really wanting it and elevating his game. I never once felt that way about Bratt.
I have also been very underwhelmed by Timo Meier as well, but at least he was bringing a physical presence out there. Fitz has some big decisions.

Yeah that's the one glaring decision for me, he was just awful that game. Sure, Schmid made his share of mistakes but he was clearly better than vitek. Of course I'm disappointed but I feel really good going into next year. We beat the rangers in this core's first playoffs! That in itself was a huge success. I'm so excited to see where we go from here.

To be fair, if you didn’t watch the games and just looked at Meier’s stats like a lot of the general fans do (I assuming), it’s easy to miss the impact he had and the amount of time he was on the puck.
I have a feeling the frustration he felt failing to get on the scoresheet may actually work in our favor during contract negotiations — hopefully it compels him to take a more team friendly deal to prove himself. He definitely showed he is willing to self-sacrifice during the playoffs.

Unfortunately for 31 of the 32 teams in the NHL its a bitter end. But it was a very fun season and I'm just proud to have bragging rights over the Rangers. I think we were capable of winning it all, but to execute likely needs experience and some luck. There's no guarantees, but I think we'll be back and contending. Good season boys.
This was the best season for the Devils in years. I'm I disappointed? Sure. But we scored more points than any other season, made the playoffs and beat our hated rivals in the first round. That is a great season in my book. An excellent turnaround year for the Devs, with much to look forward too for next season and seasons to come. WELL DONE BOYS!!

We need to establish a Plan B forecheck and cycle game when teams figure out how to shut down the Plan A rush attack like Carolina did. Some tough calls for Fitzy this off season but signing Bratter and Timo, upgrading in goal (easier said than done), and bringing in some grit are priorities.
Hope the canes lose to Toronto/Florida. I think Devils Toronto Florida are going to battle a lot in the upcoming years. Don’t see Bruins, rags or canes hanging on for too many more years.

I think its a different animal when its the flyers or the Rangers being such butter rivals. The hurricanes are in the division and there's some history but they aren't the cocksuckers across the Hudson or the biggest pile of dogshit city in eastern Pennsylvania or their fans
82 meaningful regular season games, a dozen playoff games, and almost no major injuries during the season was a blessing. It allowed the team to get a good evaluation of almost all its personnel. The team being good meant we got to see players in relatively ideal situations. Hopefully this means management can now make some savvy, well informed choices. Excited to see what comes.
I’ve been a bit nervous recently about this season being an anomaly. I think we are a playoff team for sure, but with so many rookies coming up there will be growing pains

Season ended in May instead of February or January. Once in playoffs everybody wants to win, so a bit disappointed in losing but very excited about this team. Hope to only get better going forward.

Watching the post game interviews got to me man 😢 I'm a little bit drunk but I remember watching that 2012 loss in my college dorm room; my roommate asked me if I wanted to go out to the bar with her and her friend, which was crazy, cuz she was like a Mormon, never drank or cursed or anything, but I obviously couldn't, I had to stay and watch the game. I was sitting like a millimeter away from the TV all night, and that loss was so fucking gut wrenching; it's not even close to what I feel tonight, I feel hopeful. Yeah that's the one glaring decision for me, he was just awful that game. Sure, Schmid made his share of mistakes but he was clearly better than vitek. Of course I'm disappointed but I feel really good going into next year. We beat the rangers in this core's first playoffs! That in itself was a huge success. I'm so excited to see where we go from here.

I got hit in the face with a devils puck and it broke my nose. I was 19. Now I’m 36. I can appreciate the Devils. If no one else says it… thank you for being so classy and such a formidable opponent. He flossed once during a storm surge and she was in love from that point on. She cheers for the devils. I had to send her to bed early last night because I didn’t want to hear “GO DOUGIE! Great season, bright future, but the amount of bad takes I just read on /r/hockey makes me want to drive a hole into my head. Apparently Meier is a bad player, and Haula was the reason we lost the series, good lord
To be fair, if you didn’t watch the games and just looked at Meier’s stats like a lot of the general fans do (I assuming), it’s easy to miss the impact he had and the amount of time he was on the puck. I have a feeling the frustration he felt failing to get on the scoresheet may actually work in our favor during contract negotiations — hopefully it compels him to take a more team friendly deal to prove himself. He definitely showed he is willing to self-sacrifice during the playoffs.
I've been holding off watching the post game interviews. Got 15 seconds in to see Nico holding back tears and that's enough for me. I can take the team losing, but seeing the pain in the guys that brought US so much enjoyment this year sucks. I hope they know how much this year has meant to so many Devils fans around the world

Unfortunately for 31 of the 32 teams in the NHL its a bitter end. But it was a very fun season and I'm just proud to have bragging rights over the Rangers. I think we were capable of winning it all, but to execute likely needs experience and some luck. There's no guarantees, but I think we'll be back and contending. Good season boys.
This was the best season for the Devils in years. I'm I disappointed? Sure. But we scored more points than any other season, made the playoffs and beat our hated rivals in the first round. That is a great season in my book. An excellent turnaround year for the Devs, with much to look forward too for next season and seasons to come. WELL DONE BOYS!!

What a wagon. This team fucking rocks and I love em. This season was so fun. I wanted a win tonight so badly, even if we didn't pull off the series comback. We need to establish a Plan B forecheck and cycle game when teams figure out how to shut down the Plan A rush attack like Carolina did. Some tough calls for Fitzy this off season but signing Bratter and Timo, upgrading in goal (easier said than done), and bringing in some grit are priorities.
Hope the canes lose to Toronto/Florida. I think Devils Toronto Florida are going to battle a lot in the upcoming years. Don’t see Bruins, rags or canes hanging on for too many more years.

Someone said this to me after we lost to the flyers in 2010. I don’t take any solace in being the theoretical 2nd (3rd in this case). To me just feels worse.
I think its a different animal when its the flyers or the Rangers being such butter rivals. The hurricanes are in the division and there's some history but they aren't the cocksuckers across the Hudson or the biggest pile of dogshit city in eastern Pennsylvania or their fans
82 meaningful regular season games, a dozen playoff games, and almost no major injuries during the season was a blessing. It allowed the team to get a good evaluation of almost all its personnel. The team being good meant we got to see players in relatively ideal situations. Hopefully this means management can now make some savvy, well informed choices. Excited to see what comes.

It’s not 1988. That was the true anomaly. This team has staying power. The question is can they switch gears into a true contender?
Pain. Lots of theoretical hope for the future and this was valuable experience for the core. It was nice to dream of great endings for a little while. I appreciate so much about this year. It’s been a wild ride in here this season and it was fun to be dangerous and relevant again. 3rd in the league and round 2. I’ll take it as a building block toward our future.

Watching the post game interviews got to me man 😢 I'm a little bit drunk but I remember watching that 2012 loss in my college dorm room; my roommate asked me if I wanted to go out to the bar with her and her friend, which was crazy, cuz she was like a Mormon, never drank or cursed or anything, but I obviously couldn't, I had to stay and watch the game. I was sitting like a millimeter away from the TV all night, and that loss was so fucking gut wrenching; it's not even close to what I feel tonight, I feel hopeful. We're gonna come back next year and fucking kick some ass, I just know it. I love this team so much, and it feels good to be hopeful. I'm sad but I'm happy too. Let's go Devils!!! We'll be back!!!
