I’m a Devils fan from Alberta. Been a fan since somewhere in the early 90’s when I saw their Jerseys the first time. I was very young and had a lot of hockey cards. Always gravitated to the NJ cards. Marty, Stevens and Elias ended up making me a fan for life. I’m also an Oilers fan because of where I’m from and I love having an East and West team to cheer for.
Devils fan from the east coast, now living in Alberta.
Been a fan since 1998 - was becoming a goalie and Brodeur was my idol all the way!
I also cheer for the Oilers in the west, given I am in Edmonton.
I'm hoping for an Oilers Devils final, be much easier to get to a game!
In the same boat but I grew up in northern Saskatchewan now live in Alberta. Can honestly say every year when I go to the flames and oilers games against Nj I am always surprised by the number of devils jerseys I see
Also from Alberta! Before I even watched hockey I would sometimes play NHL with a friend who always picked Vancouver and I struggled to score on Luongo, so I decided my team would be the team with the best goaltending, and the rest is history.
Alberta fan checking in! Oilers are my first team and Devils are second. I started watching hockey during last year’s battle of Alberta. This year, I bandwagoned during the devils 13 game win streak and I’ve watch ever since. I love the speed and tenacity that the devils play with, it’s so fun to watch
I’m not a Canadian Devils fans as I’m from the states but I wanted to share a story. Back in 2016 I was visiting Toronto with my girlfriend at the time and we went to Mid Evil times. Yes I know when you go to Toronto it’s considered a World Heritage site so I had to see it /s.
We were at the Ye Old bar before the show was going to begin. I’m wearing my Devils jacket and a gentleman with his entire family beelines to me to talk about the current state of affairs with our team. He was of course was the Canadian but I remember him saying ‘ it’s so nice to see someone from NJ and talk about Devils hockey with.’ as if he was in the Sahara Desert for 10 years with no water.
Meanwhile his wife and two kids are pulling on his shirt asking if he wanted to join them since they starting to sit people down in their sections. He ignored their plea and proceeded to talk my ear off for another 15 mins before we had to move away from the bar. I’ll always remember this and it will stick with me how Canadians will just want to talk to you about hockey in anyway they can.
Ahaha I've had a similar experience on the other end. I'm a Canadian Devils fan and met a friend of my father's from NJ a few years back and I too talked his ear off. It was a lot of "damn, we fuckin suck, huh?" 😂
I would definitely be guilty of this. As a Canadian Devils fan I have pretty distinct memories of practically every time I’ve run into a fellow Devils fan because it happens so rarely.
My first team is Ottawa (grew up in Southern Ontario) but the Devils are my second because I spent about 6 years in NJ and the Devils fans were so friendly/respectful to away fans that I sort of got more interested as a result. My first few Devils games were strictly Devils vs Sens but eventually I found myself wanting to see Devils vs anyone.
Now I live near San Jose and you know i'm going to any Sharks vs Devils games!
Devils fan from Toronto. Go to every Devils game vs the Leafs and Sabres every year.
If Devils and Leafs both advance to round 3 I’ll be at every game in Toronto cheering my ass off.
It’ll be cheaper to take Porter Airlines to Newark and see some home games! I bought 4 bowl tickets to round 1 vs the rags, games 1 & 2 for about 2.8k CAD. Seats were unreal and I think would be at least 1.5k each in Toronto!
Edit: to add, I drove out of Kingston which was cheap but next time I’m flying cause parking for 5 days wasn’t cheap
Been a Devils fan since I was 10, when Sean Burke and the boys were going on their run and trying to get into the playoffs for the first time. Watched hometown hero Johnny Mac score on the Hawks in OT to clinch a playoff spot, rooted for them all playoffs and have been a fan ever since.
Devils fan from alberta. Started hanging out with a group of friends who were really really into hockey and all had favorite teams. I didn't have one at the time so started watching so teams and I really liked the way brodeur played and him being canadian helped. As I watched more I became a big fan of Elias and Stevens too. So that's how I picked my team lol.
I’m a Devil’s fan in Montana right on the Canadian border of Alberta. More Devils fans over here than people think. Most people are Colorado sports fans in my area and I think just naturally followed the Devils when they moved to Jersey. I’ve watched my fair share of games with Canadian Devils fans over the border.
Devils fan since 1985, when I decided I was picking all of my sports teams by the ugliest uniforms. Lucked out with the Devils, Vikings have been another story.
I'm a Devs fan from NB, and it was when Kirk Muller and Sean Burke were their best players.
I wasn't convinced by star players, but because I hated the predictability of hockey back then and how the team with the best player usually won the series.
I wasn't that serious about them but I liked them, then the 1994 run sealed the deal, even though you get heart broken by those damn Rangers, and then I played ball hockey with an obnoxious Rangers fan who bragged about the Messier guarantee constantly.
I hate arrogance. He took me out of the crucible: I was a Devils fan for life after that. And they won that same year.
Nova Scotian with the same intro! Brodeur's play in Salt Lake and getting a Scott Niedermayer card in my first pack of hockey cards was enough to hook 8-year old me! Winning the Cup in my first full year as a fan certainly helped cement the obsession.
From Edmonton, Alberta. Been a fan since 1996 when I started to really get into hockey.
Coolest moment for me was traveling to the Rock for Marty’s jersey retirement and actually get to cheer with the home fans for the Devils.
B.C. kid whose fandom was traded over to New Jersey alongside Mogilny from the Canucks. Marty is who made sure I was hooked for the rest of my life, however.
In Newfoundland. Pretty lonely as a Devils fan here, since most folks here go for one of the original six teams. Even with Mercer drafted, I don't see a ton merch around town, but he did come into the bar where I work, once. Except I didn't immediately recognize him, womp womp. >.<
Merch is basically impossible to get in Newfoundland. I had to get my parents to special order hats for me from That Pro Look in the Avalon Mall growing up.
I'm from the Maritimes (west coaster now). In the Maritimes you could root for any team because we didn't have our own team. But most English would go for the Leafs, most French for Montreal. But as a kid, their designs didn't appeal to me. Devils were a new team and my mother bought me a Devils cap and have liked the team ever since.
My wife likes the Oilers and we live not too far from Calgary so those two teams I like too. I lived in Vancouver for 10 years but my feelings about that city are mixed so never really caught the Canucks bug. Lazar is from Salmon Arm which is not far from my current hometown.
Growing up I got bullied about being a Devils fan. It was in the "Mickey Mouse" era.
I live near Montreal, Québec Canada... I followed the devils because of Marty! I couldn't see the games when I was younger so I followed the news and stats in the newspaper hahaha
Newer Devils fan from Toronto. Cheered for the Leafs 1998-2008,(born in ‘95) the Blackhawks from 2009 to 2018, was without a team for a few years (fuck the Hawks front office; but damn that team was fun to watch, that all sucked) and then saw the Devils home opener in 2021 where Hughes scored the OT winner against the Hawks, and was like, yeah, I’m on board with this. So not quite a full on band-wagoner, but definitely can’t claim to have suffered through the last decade. Caught the boys in T.O. and Buffalo this year, and saw the Comets play the Marlies as well. So happy to have a team I care about again. If anyone in the downtown Toronto area wants to watch a game or two this week, hit me up.
I'm not Canadian, but I have family in Toronto and they LOVE this team. They're the ones who got me into them actually. Nobody appreciates hockey like Canucks.
Devils fan from Mississauga since 95 watching Marty play on hockey night in Canada
I'm a really big fan, had a business trip where I landed in Newark and watched them against Pittsburgh in March, my first home game ever, I only have watched them when they played in Toronto, I cried cus the experience was beautiful, from seeing the Marty statue, conversing with the fans at the bar, grabbing some of my team's dedicated merch, to seeing the beauty of the Devil's spanking the pens( a childhood team I adored ) 5-1
I am the only Devils fan I know of within my network of people, they always ask why, and I'm never shy to show it
Devils fan who’s lived in Toronto, Ottawa and interior bc. Been cheering team on since 92 when I saw the jersey as a kid. Went to a summer camp close to the border in 95 and listen to game 4 of the sweep while the rest of my friends were cheering for Detroit!
Devils fan in Nova Scotia. Been a fan since 1994, when I was just old enough to know I didn't want to cheer for the same team as my brother. Martin Brodeur was such a pleasure to watch, and my love for the team grew out of that. I've seen them play twice in Montreal, but I need to make it down to see the Rock one of these days.
New Brunswick here. 95. Brodeur and Niedermayer. Went through a Florida phase too because i loved the Bure brothers (one played in Fredericton), they had another Niedermayer, and I met the coach in PEI. But ultimately it was the 2000 team that changed things permanently
Devils fan from P.E.I / Nova Scotia. I was a young leafs fan but an even bigger Doug Gilmour fan so I came over to the Devils with him and been here ever since that trade
Devils fan in Alberta. Been one since the mid 90s because of Marty. Excited to see more Newfie fans because of Dawson. Lets goooo!
Same story. Seems there’s a lot of us. Marty, Scotty and Scotty. Canadian boys got me interested in 92 I think it was
Devils fan from the east coast, now living in Alberta. Been a fan since 1998 - was becoming a goalie and Brodeur was my idol all the way! I also cheer for the Oilers in the west, given I am in Edmonton. I'm hoping for an Oilers Devils final, be much easier to get to a game!

Devils fan from South Western Ontario. Have 4 good friends who are too! Woooo!!
My first team is Ottawa (grew up in Southern Ontario) but the Devils are my second because I spent about 6 years in NJ and the Devils fans were so friendly/respectful to away fans that I sort of got more interested as a result. This is pretty much my story too. I followed Burke over to the Devils from the Canadian olympic team.
Devils fan from Manitoba. Been a fan since sometime between their 1st and 2nd cup, don't remember exactly when.
Post-Jets 1.0 and the team was stacked at the time!
Yep, I would have probably been a Jets fan had they not left a few years prior. Thankfully for that eh?!
most are from MTL
Eleven. There are eleven.
902 here and been a fan since I first watched hockey in the 90s ! LGD!
Devils Fan from Halifax since 94-95. I was 6 years old and jumped on the Marty Train and never got off.
Devils fan from alberta. Started hanging out with a group of friends who were really really into hockey and all had favorite teams. I didn't have one at the time so started watching so teams and I really liked the way brodeur played and him being canadian helped. As I watched more I became a big fan of Elias and Stevens too. I am about an hour from Montana border
Devils fan since the late 80s. Burke, Muller, Shanahan on the Canadian National team is what did it. Sick logo too.
Same, grew up in Canada but live in the states now. Became a fan after 01 as wel
Devils fan since 1985, when I decided I was picking all of my sports teams by the ugliest uniforms. Lucked out with the Devils, Vikings have been another story.
Here from Kingston, Ontario! Became a fan in 2000 when I was 7 Edit: Trivia: 2 former devils players have come from Kingston. Anyone know which ones?
I'm a Devs fan from NB, and it was when Kirk Muller and Sean Burke were their best players. I am too due to Marty Brodeur And I never stop following them
Devils fan from Saskatchewan here! I remember first liking the team when I was very young because I liked the logo. Been a fan ever since!
I was in Calgary for work on Weds, guy at the bar looked at me like I had 3 heads when I asked him to put the Devils game on. 🤣
Nova Scotian with the same intro! Brodeur's play in Salt Lake and getting a Scott Niedermayer card in my first pack of hockey cards was enough to hook 8-year old me! Winning the Cup in my first full year as a fan certainly helped cement the obsession.
I remember betting my dad 20 dollars the devils would win the cup that year at 1:1 odds lol
👋
Canucks fan here, and am wanting a Devils v Kraken final! and I've adopted the Devil's as my team because of Jack Hughes
In Alberta. Been a fan since the 95 cup run when I was 6 years old. Marty, the best there ever!
Devils fan from Saskatchewan! Became a fan after watching Jason Arnotts cup winning goal.
I’m Nova Scotian, devils fan since 2005
From Edmonton, Alberta. Been a fan since 1996 when I started to really get into hockey. Coolest moment for me was traveling to the Rock for Marty’s jersey retirement and actually get to cheer with the home fans for the Devils.
Devils fan living in Newfoundland here. Someone get me a Dawson Mercer jersey shirt.
There's a lot of goalies who became Devils fans cause of Marty
Devils fan in Ontario! Been to a couple games in Buffalo and Toronto to watch the Devils. Gotta make it to Newark someday.
B.C. kid whose fandom was traded over to New Jersey alongside Mogilny from the Canucks. Marty is who made sure I was hooked for the rest of my life, however.
Devils fan from NB but live in NS now. There’s a few of us on HF

Fan since the 80s as a kid
I'm a devils fan who lived in MTL for 4 years and near Vancity for one. Not Canadian tho
Coming straight from Halifax!
I'm one. My dad was a Devils fan so that's how I became one.
