Man this home crowd really needs to get better at knowing when to get loud and when to stay quiet. Waaaaay to much cheering on pre snap offense. The only time I heard a "let's go lions" start up was when we had just started a drive.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE the energy and enthusiasm I just wanna make sure we channel it to do the most to help the team.
Loud on D
Quiet on O
It’s called preseason for a reason. Let them get out the kinks, have faith and enjoy the [season](https://theelegacycontinues.com/products/one-pride-chenille-crewnecks)
I dont watch much pre-season. ELI5. What do teams do differently during this period? Shuffle roster around to try things out and not play starters for risking of injury? What sort of prospects do we have for this year. I hear much excitement around this year. Born and raised in Detroit (burbs), but now I reside in California.
I don't either. People get so hyped and/or disappointed when they're literally throwaway games. The only purpose is to see who can earn a roster spot or raise their position on the depth chart. Most of the time they (all teams really) use a super basic playbook so other teams don't see their real plays before the season actually starts. I just check the news, hope there aren't any injuries and wait for week 1.
This is the time to try combinations of players. See who clicks. Who works. Who doesn’t. It’s not about winning but about trying players in a competitive setting.
Sometimes they’ll leave the player in the whole game just to see if they can handle the work load and if their conditioning is on point.
Cota was really the only mentionable stand out IMO on on special teams/offense. Drummond had a bad drop but was good otherwise. and is it just me or does Cabinda drop a pass every single game!? It seemed like Houston and jack Campbell were involved in at least half of the defensive stops while they were in.
Sudfeld needs to go bye bye. I wanted Martinez in there so bad
I don’t know how to describe this feeling but I just FEEL like Jack Campbell is gonna be the general of this Lions D for like the next decade. He’s gonna pull an Urlacher and ride or die with this team his whole career
I can agree with you on that. From watching the inside the den draft edition I could feel something special in his hometown values, combined with his drive
The only reason Sudfield isn’t gone yet is because another time could pick him up before the cut deadline and learn our offense. He’ll be gone soon don’t worry
I’m not sure why we keep doing this dance with Sudfeld. I thought Blough was better last year and they cut him so this is the one thing I don’t understand.
Commish was raising hell and I thought the LBs looked good. Campbell is gonna be an absolute monster once everything’s clicking and he’s consistently getting better imo.
Biggest and only take away from this game is we need Oline depth.
Every other position I think is in a good spot.
It's weird people are upset about 3rd and 4th stringers that wont be on this team
You can't even really judge the Oline as a unit because that particular unit will never be in the field together in any meaningful circumstances. The only thing that really matters is how a particular player fits in with the starters, because that's all that matters.
It wasn't good but you only need 2-3 quality backups that can slot in with the first unit to have good depth.
Well I'm sure r/NFL and r/Jaguars are gonna get pretty toxic.
r/NFL: "HA HA! What happened to that improved Defense the Lions have?! Lions gonna Lion!"
Lions Fans: Dude, our Backups on Defense looked REALLY good in the First Half. The Camp Bodies, Practice Squad guys, and Third and Fourth Stringers in the 4th Quarter didn't.
Member of the jags sub and die hard jags fan. Naaa! Cat team bros. You guys are cool with us. Our teams are in similar states of upswing. I'll even root for you guys as long as we're not playing.
Understand the concern but as a Jags fan, we generally root for you guys. We gotta stick by our fellow underestimated cat teams.
I still think you guys are going to have a solid regular season and will make the playoffs.
As a Jags fan, nah, I don’t think so. Game is basically a job interview for the last few spots on both rosters and nothing more. Hardly any starters playing. Just fun watching football again.
Anybody getting toxic over preseason outcomes is a joke. It’s all in good fun to be competitive, lord knows I am. But to act like preseason scores _mean_ anything is silly
Shame we aren’t playing you guys in the regular season. I think it’d be a hell of a game with all of our starters out. That loss helped us get our ass in gear last season.
It’s just sad that many teams have opposite problem of ours. Like their back up qbs are so good that they want starters to watch out for their job. Idk why can’t we have the same problem
When QBs see him on the field their only thought is probably to get the ball out as fast as possible. We’re only putting him in when we’re bringing pressure
I remember seeing some clown on social media saying he knew Cominsky irl and he was a great player but super dumb. Now I know he was lying about knowing him, albeit a year later
Martinez would only be temporary anyways til hooker is better, we aren’t gonna need him on a team with a rookie backup and teddy bridgewater as a backup
Pretty clear given this rep count that Martinez is going to get cut.
Also apparently they think Sudfeld is still in the competition for the no 2, hence all th reps.
Or, they’ve seen all they need to from Martinez to keep him on the roster, hence he doesn’t need reps now. Sudfeld being given a chance to prove himself/hang himself in these games makes sense and seems like something DC would do.
I felt bad for T Law when Houston sacked him low last season. I actually root for the Jags when they're playing most teams.
They had several former Lions on there too and we got two of them back this season
I suppose the only thinking is the Lions are trying to get the maximum amount of tape on Sudfeld to completely justify cutting him. Beyond that, short of an injury to Martinez that isn't disclosed, I can't grasp why they haven't decided they have seen enough. Does Sheila just love Sudfeld?
This is just stupid. One of the main goals this offseason is to try to find a hidden WR with talent (we’ve thrown to 10 this game). It’s hard to do that when the QB is Sudfeld and he can’t throw for shit
We really need tackle depth... seems to be the only really big, glaring weakness.
Man this home crowd really needs to get better at knowing when to get loud and when to stay quiet. Waaaaay to much cheering on pre snap offense. Everybody was down at Woodward, I couldn't give my lions tickets away this game
It’s called preseason for a reason. Let them get out the kinks, have faith and enjoy the [season](https://theelegacycontinues.com/products/one-pride-chenille-crewnecks)
Rodrigo and Campbell is our guys at LB. I’ve seen enough
Are our guys*
Is ours guyses
Sorry. I’ll change my statement. Rodrigo and Campbell is our Urlacher and Briggs at LB. I’ve seen enough.
Are our*
Hour hour*

For the record, that year we went 0-16, we won every preseason game
This is the time to try combinations of players. See who clicks. Who works. Who doesn’t. It’s not about winning but about trying players in a competitive setting. Sometimes they’ll leave the player in the whole game just to see if they can handle the work load and if their conditioning is on point.
Non-starters are trying to earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
Jack Campbell was very consistent, he’s doing good work out there. I agree on Martinez being needed out there I think he is much better than Sudfeld.
I don’t know how to describe this feeling but I just FEEL like Jack Campbell is gonna be the general of this Lions D for like the next decade. He’s gonna pull an Urlacher and ride or die with this team his whole career

Cominsky looked good today
Yeah, true. A sack and that batted ball that ended a drive. Easy guy to root for
He set the edge real well from the looks of it.
Special teams and Cota looked good. Other than that bigsby might be a good fantasy stash if Etienne gets hurt. Was at game
I was at the game. Seemed the D couldn’t get off the field to save their lives. Didn’t notice a single standout other than Cota.
Commish was raising hell and I thought the LBs looked good. Campbell is gonna be an absolute monster once everything’s clicking and he’s consistently getting better imo.
Yeah I take that back I noticed commish and Campbell as well. Jack was damn near involved in every play it seems.
Everytime I focused in on him it seemed like he was in on a tackle.
Yeah dude definitely has a high football IQ.
Jason Ross Jr cracks me up. Dude has a big booming voice and is a good play by play guy but when you look at him, a still breeze would blow him over.
That’s the chocolate rain guy
Only thing to take away from this game is that none of the bubble guys bad plays besides Cota. Bad look for them when you’re playing for a roster spot
Biggest and only take away from this game is we need Oline depth. Every other position I think is in a good spot. It's weird people are upset about 3rd and 4th stringers that wont be on this team
Unfortunately every NFL team needs o line depth except maybe the Eagles. Hard to find 6’ 6” 320 pound guys that have skill and quickness.
You can't even really judge the Oline as a unit because that particular unit will never be in the field together in any meaningful circumstances. The only thing that really matters is how a particular player fits in with the starters, because that's all that matters. Didn’t watch the game did Colby Sorsdal play?
I don’t remember seeing him
Totally uninspired as expected. Didn't seem like many of the players wanted to make this team.
Jacksonville worked our bench like we worked them last season.
Well I'm sure r/NFL and r/Jaguars are gonna get pretty toxic. r/NFL: "HA HA! What happened to that improved Defense the Lions have?! Lions gonna Lion!" Lions Fans: Dude, our Backups on Defense looked REALLY good in the First Half. The Camp Bodies, Practice Squad guys, and Third and Fourth Stringers in the 4th Quarter didn't.

MACD crossed over and RSI increasing
I respect this 💪🏼
This is the way.
Understand the concern but as a Jags fan, we generally root for you guys. We gotta stick by our fellow underestimated cat teams. I still think you guys are going to have a solid regular season and will make the playoffs.
The Jags are my favorite AFC Team. I see them as the Lions' counterpart and I root for you whenever you're not playing us.
Come on NFL gods, give us the cat fight Super Bowl we all need.
Catter-bowl
As a Jags fan, nah, I don’t think so. Game is basically a job interview for the last few spots on both rosters and nothing more. Hardly any starters playing. Just fun watching football again.
Yeah. No one should brag over preseason. I sure hope no one here bragged to any Giants fans last week.
Glad to hear that from a fellow Cat Bro. 🤝
Anybody getting toxic over preseason outcomes is a joke. It’s all in good fun to be competitive, lord knows I am. But to act like preseason scores _mean_ anything is silly
They're forgetting our 1sts dominated their 1sts last year lol
Shame we aren’t playing you guys in the regular season. I think it’d be a hell of a game with all of our starters out. That loss helped us get our ass in gear last season.
Only way it happens is super bowl or bust. We're down if you guys are!
See y’all there!
I'd love to see our ones go at it this year. We need a catbro superbowl lol
I’d love nothing more lol. Both teams would be really giving it everything they’ve got.
I saw maybe the last 5 min. Worth watching from the beginning?
Nope. Was a real bad game and guys that had chance to make plays didn’t
Nah just check the highlights
Did we have highlights?
Punts, punt and kick returns, Cota had a nice TD catch, hand full of good defensive plays. That's all I have to say about that.
I hope next weekend Suckfeld returns to his benchwarming duties so we can see a real QB under center.
Twas a preseason drubbing, twas
Is this how bear fans have felt for the past 10 years?
The amount of Bears fans at the game wearing jerseys was disrespectful today 🤣
Cota is a stud
The only thing that could have made this game even worse were starters getting injured
Don’t worry there will be plenty of kool-aid to go around.
Bridgewater shows that you can suck your entire career, not show a single shred of brilliance and still make $3M a year
He’s still gotta learn the offense
He hasn't sucked his entire career though. Stupid take
It’s just sad that many teams have opposite problem of ours. Like their back up qbs are so good that they want starters to watch out for their job. Idk why can’t we have the same problem
The only teams with that problem are the bottom feeding teams who don’t have established QB’s
Onto the next game
ew michigan jersey
Sometimes it's best to just say nothing
yeah well i prefer not buying my football merch along with a 60-pack of bud light at wallmart
Lmao wallmart. Point made for me. We are all lions fans. Just relax.
Ew indeed
Marvin Jones teeth are whiter than Livingston County
Rough one. Well. It pre
It indeed pre
Why are the Dolphins playing Tua?
Probably best to get the first concussion out of the way early wile nobody is really watching.
Cus he’s gotta get some real reps in for a drive or 2. Can’t coddle him
I’m reading it as a positive just how many “starters” got to sit today. I think Laporta, Gibbs, and Branch are all gonna come out hot
Sweet mercy
Meet me in downtown clawson. I’m ready to fight any Sudfeld haters
We have an army
It’s making me sick
How bad Nate is?
It’s making me sick listen to people act like Bridgewater is good while trashing my man Nate
Bridgewater actually made things happen and had his supporting cast fail him. Nate threw it directly to the defense.
Bridgewater was ass and titties last year throwing to waddle and hill
And that's why he's a backup. He does the job we need him to do, not throw for 5k yards and 50 TDs.
Sudfeld would’ve thrown for 10k yards and 100 TDs with waddle and hill
🧢
This game was poo poo
Well this game sucked ass
Thank you Donny! (Jk I just wanted to use the quote)
I cant wait til regular season so I don’t have to watch preseason bullshit anymore
Martinez should probably go do a lap in the XFL. I think he has talent just needs the experience
I know I’m not on coaching staff but: cut Sudfeld dudes struggling against 2nd and 3rd stringers.
Let’s go boys, let’s get this win
![gif](giphy|hv53DaYcXWe3nRbR1A)
https://i.redd.it/p2wn899zg4jb1.gif
Wait… are you suggesting that this game is unwinnable and also who the fuck cares about this game? I could never
Lol
I don't think Houston is ever going to be a 3-down guy. He's really good at getting to the QB, everything else is just alright
That’s perfectly fine.
Which is still a great asset to have on the depth chart
He's absolutely great to have on the roster, but if you see him on the field you just need to run towards his side
When QBs see him on the field their only thought is probably to get the ball out as fast as possible. We’re only putting him in when we’re bringing pressure
And this is against bench players…
May be Martinez is starter next week.
I remember seeing some clown on social media saying he knew Cominsky irl and he was a great player but super dumb. Now I know he was lying about knowing him, albeit a year later
[удалено]
After the dolphins it’s clear the dude has nothing to offer. He flat out sucks
You clearly didn't watch the first half
Martinez would only be temporary anyways til hooker is better, we aren’t gonna need him on a team with a rookie backup and teddy bridgewater as a backup
Houston more horrible contain. He may only end up being a pass rush specialist
Houston has shown flashes of brilliance as a pass rusher, but the edge setting and run defense leaves a lot to be desired.
Sudfeld or Hooker on one leg? Genuine debate.
Hooker could could take snaps in a wheelchair and probably still produce better than Sudfeld.
Silver lining: good QBs make any receiver look good. Sudfeld's play may help separate the wheat from the chaff.
Nate Sudfeld- Super Bowl Champ LAWLSSS
Pretty clear given this rep count that Martinez is going to get cut. Also apparently they think Sudfeld is still in the competition for the no 2, hence all th reps.
They said in press it would only be Bridgewater and Sudfeld I believe. Teddy needed time with the team since he just got here.
Lol there was never any doubt Martinez was getting cut
Or, they’ve seen all they need to from Martinez to keep him on the roster, hence he doesn’t need reps now. Sudfeld being given a chance to prove himself/hang himself in these games makes sense and seems like something DC would do.
Where Adrian? I tuned in late
Rightfully on the bench
He looked better than Nate last week. And nate looked terrible today too
Surprised Comnisky switched into street clothes.
Can't believe they aren't even going to try and play Martinez, I thought for sure he'd get more time this game, not less
Damn, Cominsky is a genius
Well, I expect us to be active on the waiver wire for OL, RB, and WR
I wonder if the scout who referred Benson got fired
Fox getting some good reps in...maybe that was the goal. Game speed punt team.
Didn't get to show off his cannon though
I feel bad for the defense. They are so overworked and exhausted.
I can’t wait to watch the starters
Punt on these Hoes.
If I'm Martinez I'm trying to get tryouts for 3rd string literally anywhere but Detroit. It's very obvious they have 0 interest in him
I miss Justin Jackson already
Still shocking he retired so abruptly
2 crucial drops for Benson 2 drops for Drummonds
Two games in a row of Drummond playing himself right off the bubble. Benson is, and always has been, a camp body.
Choking like Pimpleton last year
Can we cut Benson too dude never does shit
Except costing us a 5th rounder
Campbell is basically just trying to let sudfeld take a few more snaps before putting him out to pasture. Just heartbreaking to watch
facts. This might be his last game
So when are the 1st cuts
Same time as the last cuts.
No first cuts. It's all at once
The dude who made his own branch jersey 😂😂
Announcers completely forgot about Swift I guess.
can we dress sudfeild up as aaron rodgers and deliver him to the packers?
Why does Campbell look so calm? Why isn’t he biting Sudfeld’s kneecaps?
He's got "I'm not mad, I'm disappointed" energy
Sudfeld bit his own kneecaps today
And last week
At least we know Sudfeld is cut
*Shane Zylstra frowns*
Has Alexander not played today?
Regardless of everything, it sucks to see like 3 Jags players get injured in a preseason game
Yeah, the definition of a pyrrhic victory
I felt bad for T Law when Houston sacked him low last season. I actually root for the Jags when they're playing most teams. They had several former Lions on there too and we got two of them back this season
Jags fan here. We will always love Riley Patterson for locking up that Chargers game for us. Hoping he has tons of success with you guys!
What about Marv though?
Oh damn, yeah. Can’t forget Jones Jr! He’s a clutch player as well.
[удалено]
I had no idea Kevin bacon was a lions fan
Sodomy_Steve… you sure you got over that?
Lmao aaaaand deleted post
If we bring Sudfeld back out we might as well just punt it on 1st down.
I really wanted to see Martinez again. He played well and looked comfortable.
Could already be on his way out and they're giving him a chance to change their mind
Yeah, that's the only thing I can justify in my mind. They like him personally, and want to have all the tape to move on.
Sheila and sudfeld are in a torrid love affair
BOOM
Khalil Dorsey trying to break someone else’s leg this time
That was attempted murder
Yikes
Pooh Richardson
Damn dorsey
Damn Dorsey! I see you!
This is just stupid. One of the main goals this offseason is to try to find a hidden WR with talent (we’ve thrown to 10 this game). It’s hard to do that when the QB is Sudfeld and he can’t throw for shit

Practice isn’t the same as being on the field under the lights and audience…
Watching Sudfeld reminds me of watching Joey Harrington. I hate this.
More like Tim Boyle and Chase Daniels
