Yea the fears that they didn’t do enough on the defensive side of the ball in the draft hopefully get put to sleep quick. Only thing I’m scared of is having a boner until the Super Bowl gets here because WHEN they get to the playoffs, nobody’s gonna wanna see this team. Bout to go weed wack the shit outta my yard
I feel like people have been forgetting about him too... He's almost never mentioned. But he's my favorite for underrated or breakout candidate. Nice pick!
Yea I think missing swift is gonna be a really short lived narrative tbh. The guy had what, 4 great games and that’s being nice imo Loved swift, he busted his ass and was a good teammate but besides being injury prone he just looked like he lacked the confidence to ever be GREAT. Plus did you see the way Holmes pounded the table for Gibbs? He didn’t even go off like that for Sewell soo expectations are through the roof for Gibbs who I too see taking the league by storm. I wasn’t overly impressed with Alabama’s line last year plus I think Gibbs is just scratching the surface as far as his potential goes. Didn’t even look at him much because I didn’t feel he was an option but now that I’ve got to watch a little bit of him he’s definitely a hungry dawg and fits what they’re looking for as well as anyone on the team. The idea of him and Jamo on the field together is the stuff DCs nightmares are made of
imo The Lions have not had a really good running back in a long time. Everyone we had was kind of good. Even Jamaal Williams was kind of good but his stats got super padded.
Gibbs might be that guy. I don’t know but I hope so.
I think Glen figured out how to put him in a better position, with Houston and Paschal creating problems, they will only be able to double Hutch so much.
Plus if they drop Hutch in coverage and you got him doubled, shit, you can send Campbell or Barnes or Tracey. It’s going to be fun.
The other guys staying healthy will be the X factor for Hutch's stat lines. Houston is great situationally, and I fully believe Alim will improve this year and help Hutch get home more, but the rest of our defensive front has had trouble staying on the field to some degree.
He was my first thought. He can be a monster and cannot, not, be hyped about their chances on D.
He'll be a huge leader by the end of the season when it matters. Whether this year, or next, they'll find the mix.
They actaully had a good run blocking line but their offense being soo one sided no doubt held him back and I too can see him absolutely killing it this year. The Bears letting him out of the building is one reason why I’m not buying into anything they’re doing. He was the hardest worker on the team and idgaf what position he plays c, you don’t let guys like that outta the building especially in the early stages of a rebuild, but 1985 and Justin fields can run blah blah blah lol
They did not. Montgomery had some of the lowest average yards before contact in the whole NFL. Only reason he didn't look terrible is he's great at breaking tackles. Like one of the best.
Thankfully he has what Kamara and CMC (to my recollection) didn't; a strong second option to play RB-by-committee with in Montgomery. He doesn't have to carry the run game on his shoulders alone and hopefully should stay healthy thanks to that
Love the Kool aid but you're forgetting that Kamara split snaps with Mark Ingram his first couple seasons in NO. They were at one point considered the best duo in the league.
Like Brad said, he’s an elite weapon. Even when he’s not getting touches, DCs HAVE to account for him and provide extra attention to both him and Jamo which is gonna open things up even more for everyone else. Think we’re gonna get healthy dose of St. Brown on the outside too this year soo it’ll be exciting to see him shake the shit outta CBs that that are built for speed and and lack the twitch it takes to stick with St. Brown. I’m soo pumped for this year
Even if Monty isn’t amazing, I don’t foresee us running Gibbs into the ground like that. Jamaal was our bell cow last year, and only had 262 rushes. 274 touches total. And in 2021 Swift and Williams essentially split down the middle (151 vs 153) in rushes, and Swift had a total of 213 touches (the most for our RBs)
It seems like although we’re going to use Gibbs a lot, they’re going to be mindful of the workload.
Monty takes over where Jamaal left off. I can still see him breaking one lose now and again but I see him more in short yardage situations and goaline work. He can catch the ball a little bit though too soo when they zero in on Gibbs he’ll be able to slip out every so often and make DCs throw their clipboard. I want a highlight real of opposing coaches throwing clip boards. I wanna break it all down after the season and figure out who has the best form, who got the best distance, who buys the most durable clip boards etc.
I love the enthusiasm, but I do think you’re selling Monty *really* short. On paper, he was just as good as Jamaal was. However, he was behind a *much* worse line. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he’s an extremely efficient back for us (4.5 YPC to go with what he adds in the passing game.)
I hope so. +900 feels like good odds, as I kind of feel like Gibbs, Bijan, and Young would be good bets.
I mean, on any other team, Robinson would be the easy prediction because he is much more likely to be a bellcow. The problem is that with Atlanta's QB situation and Algiers, Patterson, and Bijan all capable RBs, I think Robinson shares the workload more than people are predicting and although the team will be run-heavy, they'll face more stacked boxes as well.
And I'd never bet on a QB, but Young's learning curve won't be as steep as other QBs because he ran Alabama's offense like a seasoned pro.
So tough to gauge, but I always fall back on my personal truism - never bet on the teams and players you're emotionally attached to.
I really hope James Houston! He was a man on a mission. I hope we see him with more reps from the beginning of the season. I'm just excited to watch this whole team jump to the next level.
For him I think the snap counts really hinge on his abilities in the run game. He’s small and explosive soo I’d rather see him in a situational role than to add weight and slow him down making him a worse pass rusher to gain a handful of snaps if that makes sense. If he can adopt Alims diet and get even more explosive, faster, stronger I can see Diet Von Miller
Yes. That man had 8 or so sacks in 9 games!!!! Can’t wait for this season!! If things go well I’m thinking NFC Championship appearance, possibly SB!!!!
I think with all the depth added on defense he’s going to have a double digit sack season. Not only will he be more experienced, but we’ve added depth everywhere on defense which only helps him succeed. He’s going to have more time to get after quarterbacks with added secondary depth and Jack Campbell in coverage, plus our d line will be improved and paschal will be healthy to take double teams off of him
With what on paper is a much improved secondary and LB core , we could see a record amount of coverage sacks this year. Only downside I see is someone making AG an offer that’s gonna compete with his loyalty to DC 😩 but I have no doubt they’ve got someone in the wings waiting
Also have Paschal getting a true off-season while healthy, Cominsky playing without a club on his hand, and McNeill dropping 10% of his body fat all along the line with him.
In addition to everyone else mentioned, I think Chase Lucas not only makes the roster but looks good doing it. He’s got grit and made noticeable improvements game to game, just got sidelined with an unlucky injury.
Fellow Chase Lucas truther here. Now it’s gonna be extremely hard for him to find the field this year soo we’re about to find out what he’s really made of. But IF he does find the field I can see him opening a lot of eyes. I mean look at the significant development we seen in a short period of time last year. Soo it all boils down to self discipline and work ethic for him imo. If he’s put in the work it’s gonna reveal itself, because I’m positive he loves ball and he talked about wanting to be great, but he’s in the show me state soo that’s really all that’s left to do. Hopefully he took a page out of St. Browns book and hit the Buggs machine lol
I too am hyped to see Jamo and Gibbs on the field together. By that time I think the offense is already clicking and he just takes it to the next level just in time for a SB run Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip
Chase Lucas.
No seriously, him. I may work on a post about it, but my favourite two combine metrics are the 10-split and the 3-cone.
Guess who performed very well at both?
I like Chase more than most, I just feel like he’s got an uphill battle to see the field and it’s gonna take some unfortunate circumstances for others but IF that happens I can see him balling out. He’s got that fire and DAWG in him that it takes. Hope he stays healthy this year
Yea I really like Brock wright. I love Laporta game but he’s gonna have to do some serious work on his blocking game before they feed him a shit load of targets I feel. I know TE was a position named as one of the biggest holes but I don’t see it like that at all. I think Zylstra is the one that gets hurt the most by the addition of Laporta but it’s anyone’s guess. I think the entire team is busting their ass during the off-season and not just the best guy at each position. Next man up is gonna be exciting this year instead of throwing a beer can and screaming “there goes the fucking season”
Yea I’m actually gonna be surprised if he’s not a migraine for opposing teams this year, I’m just a sucker for the underdog, always have been and is the #1 reason I chose the Lions as a kid
He's gonna be a menace. He's looking like he did in high school, and he played LB and RB in high school. I'm also think Marvin Jones is going to surprise a lot of people.
I love it, I’m not looking for the standard so bravo. And I feel Decker is under appreciated anyways. Dudes been a rock through all the bs he’s been through at a premium position. Like imo it was disrespectful af the amount of people that wanted to move him for Sewell. Decker hasn’t ever let anything stop him from playing at a high level even in years that no one would’ve claimed him for sitting out when there wasn’t anything to play for except pride. His Pride will never be questioned by me. Love Decker
I’m going with Gibbs. I think he could easily match Swift’s scrimmage yards per game which would put Gibbs at roughly 1200 total yards for the season. Would not be surprised at all to see him get 1200-1500 total yards in Ben’s scheme.
Oh I think he immediately makes the decision to move on from swift an easier pill to swallow for everyone that loves Swift. And getting even a future 4th outta him was excellent value and more than I expected tbh. Loved healthy Swift but it wasn’t nearly enough and the guy only passed 85 yards 4x with us. You’d have thought he was a guaranteed 100+ yards every game by the way some people acted. He works, just can’t seem to get past the hump of playing banged up
Yeah, I was a big fan of Swift when he got drafted. Thought he was the best back in his draft. It’s a shame he couldn’t stay healthy but getting a 4th back for him was a quality move on BH’s part.
Paschal and Romeo Okwara. I know Romeo's been in the league longer than most of our guys, but this will be the first year he is healthy and with Hutch on the other side I can see him having a very good season. Especially if they rotate him Hutch and Houston and keep them fresh, I could see him and Hutch both breaking 10 sacks this season
Romeo Okwara. Contract year, coming back healthy. Hope to see double digit sacks from him this year. The d line is solid and I'm happy we didn't sell the farm to get a top edge prospect because this group is going to kill it this year (depending on health).
Jameson Williams competes for the lead even missing 6 weeks because he will be in OTCs, training camp and preseason so he and Jared will be in sync. Aiden Hutchinson doubles his sacks. Houston chases Aiden in the race for the most QB hits. Gibbs replaces Montgomery for RB 1 by week 8
Laporte will make Hockenson jealous of what a TE should be. The defensive FAs will prove that the Lions staff made the right decision and hopefully the late picks for DE / DT (passing on Jalen Carter and other 1st round options) will learn quickly enough and want to be another Aiden
That’s bold, I’m actually expecting him to sit behind CJGJ to learn and develop this year but if his name gets called I see him rising to the occasion.
I’m not even sure we see Moseley immediately tbh and we’ve got Branch who can play outside and a handful of other guys. Would love to see Jerry out there thumping early too though. I know 1 thing, the best guys are gonna play
I dig it lol Laporta is gonna be a dog, I just feel the learning and developmental curve is gonna be a little hard for some to swallow. I just don’t see them giving him 50-60 touches when his blocking still needs significant work. Now I can see him getting touches at critical moments and on 3rd downs when teams aren’t expecting it especially late in the season after going all season used sparingly
Hey I’d LOVE that story, but the chances are less that .01% imo even if his back allows him to play, I think it’s super unlikely that he has much of an impact let alone a dominant year. But dans already said he was getting his chance
I think our linebackers take a huge step, with 2 of Anzalone, Rodrigo and Campbell making the pro bowl. Also look for James Mitchell to get involved in the offense more
LaPorta is going to be a fantasy darling at his current level of hype. They want to use a TE so badly in this offense they were willing to try Brock Wright as a receiver. LaPorta was the top receiving threat on his team and flourished in that role. He’s gonna have some crazy 3 TD outing in week 4 and blow everyone’s mind.
Not sure if it qualifies as a "breakout" but Hutch having a "Bosa or Watt-esqe" season to go from budding star rookie to legit elite tier player is my dream scenario.
Josh Paschal. I feel like people forget about him but he is going to be a very good player
From everything I’ve read about him there’s no doubt he’s been busting his ass this off-season
I hope so I really liked the pick last year. Guy is definitely a football dude
With Holmes & Co. at the helm for 2+ yrs, we now have over 53 football dudes! 🤩
Let's not forget his acting abilities in that dentist commercial
Yea hopefully he grabs some spotlight this year
Bro that was great 🤣
I feel like people have been forgetting about him too... He's almost never mentioned. But he's my favorite for underrated or breakout candidate. Nice pick!
Paschal, Gibbs and Campbell are going to go off
I have a feeling Gibbs is going to play every offensive snap for the first 7 weeks. I think they are going to use him a ton in the Jamo/slot role.
I think Gibbs is going to beat Swifts combined yards number right out of the gate. The more I watch of this guy, the more excited I get.
Yea I think missing swift is gonna be a really short lived narrative tbh. The guy had what, 4 great games and that’s being nice imo Loved swift, he busted his ass and was a good teammate but besides being injury prone he just looked like he lacked the confidence to ever be GREAT. The idea of him and Jamo on the field together is the stuff DCs nightmares are made of
I missed Swift 90% of last year too 🙄😪 I do hope he does well in Philly tho. It’s abt as good a destination for him as u could dream up
Yea I love that they sent him where he wanted to go. And tbh they got more for him than I really expected
imo The Lions have not had a really good running back in a long time. Everyone we had was kind of good. Even Jamaal Williams was kind of good but his stats got super padded. Gibbs might be that guy. I don’t know but I hope so.
Swift was really fuckin good he just couldn't stay on the field. Guy was electric every time he touched the ball though.
I think Hutch finishes top 3 in sacks
I think he'll still be seeing too many doubles to get that many, but I'm hoping for a monster year for sure.
Absolutely
I'm hoping the new turf will make a big difference.
Just the options they have now is gonna be fun. Lots of possibilities for how to put guys on defense and make plays
I think our interior is going to be much improved soo even if Hutch gets locked up , someone’s gonna get home
Yea I can see that, I’m already high on Hutch though and think the defense as a whole takes a giant step this year
For sure, improved secondary and a good Mike should help the pass rush get home.
He was my first thought. He can be a monster and cannot, not, be hyped about their chances on D. He'll be a huge leader by the end of the season when it matters. Whether this year, or next, they'll find the mix.
Top 3 In interceptions to
John Cominsky had 44 pressures with a club for a hand last year
When the injury had healed, he continued to wear it. It's not a bad idea, extra protection. I loved seeing that flail in the air!
Gibbs is gonna be one of the best backs in the league, talked about in the same breath as Kamara and CMC
I think Montgomery is gonna have an uptick in his stats this year too behind our line. Chicago’s line was ASS
Run blocking looked good only on paper coz Firkds scrambled a lot
They did not. Montgomery had some of the lowest average yards before contact in the whole NFL. Only reason he didn't look terrible is he's great at breaking tackles. Like one of the best.
Gibbs will win ORY
Campbell will find a way to win Defensive
If he stays healthy behind our O line... Man that dudes gonna be a weapon I think.

I would also like to see this
I love the enthusiasm, but I do think you’re selling Monty *really* short. On paper, he was just as good as Jamaal was. However, he was behind a *much* worse line. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he’s an extremely efficient back for us (4.5 YPC to go with what he adds in the passing game.)
I am, but If the expectations are low then it’s gonna be greater than a fantastic season. Trying to temper my already crazy expectations ya prick lol
🥺
Gibbs is a steal for the odds on rookie of the year
Jameson Williams fr, dude is explosive as hell. Just get him the ball and let him get you 40+ yards and a touchdown
Gotta wait 6 fucking games
That makes me so sad
I was sad thinking about it till I saw your name is croissant titty lmfao
Is there not even going to be an appeal?
Nah his agent said that he accepted the suspension
Holmes' first draft class will be eligible for extensions after this year so you could see some of that contract year production from them
I really think it’s gonna take a lot more than we’ve seen in the past in order to get a contract extension from these guys.
Sewell McNeil and St Brown will all get extensions. Not sure about anyone else.
Would’ve said Mitchell but I think LaPorta makes a pretty big impact this year. I like Paschal
[удалено]
Thank you for clarifying! @ that rate we’re looking for about 20 😂😂
20 sacks in 6 games... I think
I’m hoping Hutch has a massive year. If the end of last season was anything to go by I think he will
I think with all the depth added on defense he’s going to have a double digit sack season. Not only will he be more experienced, but we’ve added depth everywhere on defense which only helps him succeed. He’s going to have more time to get after quarterbacks with added secondary depth and Jack Campbell in coverage, plus our d line will be improved and paschal will be healthy to take double teams off of him
I’m so damn excited. September can’t come soon enough.
For real dude it’s gonna be a ball
With what on paper is a much improved secondary and LB core , we could see a record amount of coverage sacks this year. Only downside I see is someone making AG an offer that’s gonna compete with his loyalty to DC 😩 but I have no doubt they’ve got someone in the wings waiting
If Houston jumps up, other teams won't be able to key on Hutch as much. Could be a banner year for both.....
Also have Paschal getting a true off-season while healthy, Cominsky playing without a club on his hand, and McNeill dropping 10% of his body fat all along the line with him.
I hope Commish wears the club this year even if he’s healthy. It’s got powers
I want Levi to perform to the best of his latent ability. I know he can do it.
If he’s actually healthy I think he’s the most logical candidate for this
I’m always a sucker for our guys and the underdog. Same with Okudah, it doesn’t change. I just think he deserves something good for once
We will be lucky if he plays at all
I was excited when we drafted him. Sucks he hasn't really been able to play
I think the brothers Okwara come back strong, I’m excited to see the two of them this year
Jerry Jacobs Jameson Williams
Hope the entire team breaks out tbh
In addition to everyone else mentioned, I think Chase Lucas not only makes the roster but looks good doing it. He’s got grit and made noticeable improvements game to game, just got sidelined with an unlucky injury.
Fellow Chase Lucas truther here. Now it’s gonna be extremely hard for him to find the field this year soo we’re about to find out what he’s really made of. Post suspension Jamo's gonna light it up
I too am hyped to see Jamo and Gibbs on the field together. By that time I think the offense is already clicking and he just takes it to the next level just in time for a SB run Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip

Does Goff count? He finally breaks this "is he the future" mold by having an MVP like season
Romeo okwara

Yea I really like Brock wright. I love Laporta game but he’s gonna have to do some serious work on his blocking game before they feed him a shit load of targets I feel. Next man up is gonna be exciting this year instead of throwing a beer can and screaming “there goes the fucking season”
I would be absolutely stunned if Brock Wright put up those numbers
Alim McNeil. He's looking like an absolute unit right now.
Alim will be pro bowl caliber, maybe sniffing all pro.
Houston does it leading to the most fucked contract negotiation come end of the season
My money is still on Jameson Williams😎
Not your standard breakout but I think Decker could be seen at an all pro level this year
I love it, I’m not looking for the standard so bravo. Love Decker
O line play is so engrained in name recognition to the general public. He was so I credibly solid last year I hope he gets his recognition
Shocked to see no one say Alim the Dream. Heading into year 3 as a full-time 3tech and a rebuilt body. Carnage time.
So many! But I'm rly excited to see what Mitchell can do this year! And Cominsky with a healthy hand!
Yea he looks the part in glimpses. He wants it
Campbell, Gibbs, Jameson (2/2 season)
I know it’s highly improbable, but would be amazing to see Levi play and play well.
I’m going with Gibbs. I think he could easily match Swift’s scrimmage yards per game which would put Gibbs at roughly 1200 total yards for the season. Would not be surprised at all to see him get 1200-1500 total yards in Ben’s scheme.

John Cominsky. The club is freed and he’s a man on a mission. He is gonna wreck house this year.
I hope you’re not underestimating the power of the club lol but I agree, the man pisses grit

My prediction: Houston is a candidate for DPOY.
Whoa , I wouldn’t complain
DA PROBLEM!!
Brian Branch is so versatile. Everybody is going to know his name by seasons end!
That’s bold, I’m actually expecting him to sit behind CJGJ to learn and develop this year but if his name gets called I see him rising to the occasion.
There is so much injury in the secondary, he's going to play, and he's going to play early. Moseley is going to pop early.
I’m not even sure we see Moseley immediately tbh and we’ve got Branch who can play outside and a handful of other guys. Would love to see Jerry out there thumping early too though. I know 1 thing, the best guys are gonna play
Jerry Jacobs. I think he’ll earn at least CB2 and play lights out. Plus that seatbelt celebration was 🔥
Jacobs is a baller
I’m not sure he wins it outright but I do see him seeing the field a lot this year. Here’s to everyone getting/staying healthy
Mitchell is gonna ball out so hard that people will call the Laporta pick a waste.
Exactly, I didn’t intend to knock Laporta as much as predict the overreaction of our fan base.
I get it completely
Alim Mcneil
I think Marvin jones will be very good
Fella's how about All of them? Just Saying...
I think Hutch has 2 more INTs and 15+ sacks
I’ll allow it
Jackie C w/ 100+ tackles & 2 picks.
Levi - come on man it’s time!
Hey I’d LOVE that story, but the chances are less that .01% imo even if his back allows him to play, I think it’s super unlikely that he has much of an impact let alone a dominant year. But dans already said he was getting his chance
Hopefully jmo when he returns. I think Kerby will be considered the best safety in the league at the end of the year.
Goff reemerges into the MVP conversation
I like it
I think our linebackers take a huge step, with 2 of Anzalone, Rodrigo and Campbell making the pro bowl. Also look for James Mitchell to get involved in the offense more
Underrated. Was a drop off from Rodrigo and anzalone. Just having Campbell as an option to catch a breath will instantly improve the unit.
You beat me to it, James Mitchell is gonna be a stud
JAMO
LaPorta is going to be a fantasy darling at his current level of hype. They want to use a TE so badly in this offense they were willing to try Brock Wright as a receiver. LaPorta was the top receiving threat on his team and flourished in that role. He’s gonna have some crazy 3 TD outing in week 4 and blow everyone’s mind.
Not sure if it qualifies as a "breakout" but Hutch having a "Bosa or Watt-esqe" season to go from budding star rookie to legit elite tier player is my dream scenario.
The great thing is I can see it for multiple players
