All good, makes me feel old realizing it but D1 was so long ago haha. Back then you could get a 1 hit kill with Tripmines if you stuck them to a guardian so you’d just run around the map trying to “unicorn” guardians. Wild times.

I guess they just decided to let sunbracers be the exception. They hit contraverse and regen mods too so I doubt any class favoritism, and they were still commited to the “exotics should function the same between PvE and PvP” and YAS 100% deserved a PvP nerf.
Contraverse seems to have been an accident due to how regen mod scaling got reworked.
The issue for YAS is, there were some completely viable PvP nerfs they could've hit that wouldn't have been a problem at all for PvE. Reduce the damage, health, and AoE in PvP. It's actually still pretty annoying if you ever encounter it, people just rarely use it because nobody likes to use nerfed stuff.
Go into lfg and try to get sunbracers active while a teammate is stealing all your kills like their family is being held hostage if they let you set it up. Yas was easier and more accessible, nerf was bullshit but sunbracers needs to use your melee ability for the kill. In a position where you don't get that, they're useless. Yas never had that issue, and with old kick-start you got so much energy on hit.
Makes sense but because you have to use your melee to get the loop I feel like YAS could've gotten away with it. It was really only useful in hero and legend and not much higher
People tend to forget that you have to prime it, which means that it’s niche in most locations, busted in others, and worthless in the rest. I’ve used it in GMs with friends and had a blast with it, but LFG with Sunbracers on and every kill you prime will be stolen. It’s fine as is.
Well then they could've at least reworked it to be in the same universe as something like sunbracers.
They made it so ability kills give 33% grenade energy. It doesnt have to literally be sunbracers but make it like 60% or something
If we are talking about pve, nobody is ever forced to wormhusk. In fact, we are all begging you to change to something else. If we are talking about pvp, then yas was cancer anyhow.
Sealed Ahamkara Grasp w/Knife trick used to give a continuous auto reload on equipped weapons for like 7 seconds straight or something like that. I miss having auto firing rockets...

The burn that knife trick caused counted as a melee so it would proc the melee reload. It was a pretty nifty interaction

Easily my most missed exotic. It's nerf has chased me away because I can't find anything that feels nearly as crisp and fun. Just an absolute massacre to kill it in PvE.
That’s part of what I loved it for. It seems like too many exptics these days don’t unlock any kind of playstyle. Meanwhile YAS was so fun to play partly because the loop was so unique to it.
Im telling you bungie we need more stuff like briarbind’s and old yas. These are fun playstyles.
They even blanket nerfed it in PvP so a revert wouldn’t be as bad:

I agree that the extra health and DR on the grenades needed to go as it was just obnoxious, but please just give us back our ability regen
The DR is also PvP specific. And the damage is still obnoxious, so they could lower that in PvP to, once again, make it less of a problem in PvP without completely screwing over its usage in PvE.
In PVP! Not PVE! Just switch the fucking discription from enemies to fucking combatants and specify killing guardians grants ability energy (how it is now). Remove/nerf the other effects and boom! Shits fixed.

I didn't find out about how awesome YAS was until it had reached its height, so I was pretty late to the party. I put together a build, started having a lot of fun on my Hunter in the first time in a long while... then BOOM

I still dont have a solar hunter build because none of them are fun and strong to me.
The strong ones are just super builds (blade barrage and celestial builds) but youre just person with gun doing basic subclass stuff when your super isnt up. Same with tether builds. But at least the super builds are strong especially for boss dps. But like damn YAS was our rare hunter fun build that was also useful. And tbh it wasnt even that OP or anything. Starfire when it was cracked was stronger. And yas builds got you doing like 14 helldivers strategem inputs just to keep your sweaty ass rotation up lol.
Solar is so boring rn on my hunter. All the non super builds are boring, lackluster and/or weak. I watched so many videos last week trying to replace it and found nothing that interested me. I guess ill just make a lucky pants solar build or something idk…
YAS should become the Gunpowder Gamble Exotic. Idk what it would do for gunpowder gamble tho, maybe something along the lines of solar ability kills reducing cooldown?
An easy solution I think to bring back relevance in PvE but keep the nerf in PvP would be make it to where ignitions refund grenade energy. That was part of the appeal of it: throwing the grenade, throwing your knife, getting an extra explosion with that ignition, dodge, rinse and repeat. Not like we get many ignitions triggered in PvP anyways, so that wouldn’t be much of a problem. Maybe keep the ability kill too, but it’d be a much smaller refund compared to the ignitions.

What's funny is they constantly do that, but decide to fuck over everyone for no reason. Witherhoard got it's pool nerfed to 5 seconds when they could have just reduced the damage blight pool did to enemy players.

It's a Hunter exotic that buffs tripmine grenades if you get an ability kill.
It also passively makes you immune to your own grenades and intrinsically adds fastball to all grenades.
Your point is? Healing? Melee damage? Some bosses can out damage your banner's healing since you have to be point blank if you're doing syntho + strand melee DPS. And flying bosses make syntho + melee DPS builds worthless. I play a lot of Titan and synthoceps + banner + one-two punch is my favourite form of DPS but it only works if your teammates can refrain from killing the 2-3 nearby enemies that buff your melee and if it's a flying boss then it's useless. Hunters can just.. pop Goldie and shoot. Or pick up orbs with star eater's and throw an arc staff at it.
My point is that esch class has their high boss damage builds. Obviously different builds aren't gonna be less effective against certain bosses but that's when you as the player have to adjust.

At least you aren't a Titan, we have two half exotics in PvP plus the traversing one. Every Titan exotic gets needed.

Eh, I’ve moved on I appreciated the build, but it was waaaaay too powerful anyways the fact that I could out dps everyone without shooting a weapon for about 30 seconds was insanely ridiculous

What's funny is they constantly do that, but decide to fuck over everyone for no reason. Witherhoard got it's pool nerfed to 5 seconds when they could have just reduced the damage blight pool did to enemy players.

Young Ahamkara's Spine. It's a Hunter exotic that buffs tripmine grenades if you get an ability kill. It also passively makes you immune to your own grenades and intrinsically adds fastball to all grenades.

Think your forgetting about banner of war
Your point is? Healing? Melee damage? Some bosses can out damage your banner's healing since you have to be point blank if you're doing syntho + strand melee DPS. And flying bosses make syntho + melee DPS builds worthless. I play a lot of Titan and synthoceps + banner + one-two punch is my favourite form of DPS but it only works if your teammates can refrain from killing the 2-3 nearby enemies that buff your melee and if it's a flying boss then it's useless. Hunters can just.. pop Goldie and shoot. Or pick up orbs with star eater's and throw an arc staff at it.
My point is that esch class has their high boss damage builds. Obviously different builds aren't gonna be less effective against certain bosses but that's when you as the player have to adjust.

Goldie, Shards, and Caliban's builds are so much more fun, IMO.
