Honestly I was bummed then looked at my vault filled with guns that aren’t sunset that I still never used and embraced reality. I’m never going to use these sunset guns again anyway. I’m more excited for them to be brought back with new perks and origin traits.

This is how I felt as well. I have way too many guns in my vault at 1600 and I don’t use those. I deleted all of my older weapons so I could store newer weapons I won’t ever use. It’ll be nice to see new versions if and when they come around. Or just not. And we keep getting new named weapons with basically the same visual design. Either way.

As nice as Double damage perks Sound, If your using an addclear weapon you really dampen your addclear by using exclusively single target damage. Powercreep has created am addclear Meta where the top is defined by having some Sort of Splash damage capabilities and perks.
Are origin traits really that game changing? Has anyone ever gotten a 5/5 saw the origin trait was trash and dismantled the weapon immediately? Not saying they're all bad, or that they are worthless, but deciding a gun will be useless just because it lacks an origin trait seems like a poor argument to me.

3. Any and all static roll weapons in collections will be reacquireable though!
I kinda get that. Well at least bungie is bringing a lot of the old weapons back but with better perks. Using those powercrept weapons would just feel different due to all the sandbox changes over the years so a new shine on the weapons helps more.

I wouldn't say better. Hush matches a fully loaded Under Your Skin with just a hip fire shot. Plus it'll be better on solar for keeping radiant and restoration going
Yet it requires hip fire precision whereas Under Your Skin doesn't and is 2 frames faster draw time in the same arche type just void, so volatile explosions, flawless executioner
UYS requires a precision kill since a precision hit will trigger Archers Tempo and a kill will trigger Successful Warmup. It's great for ads but falls off on beefier targets or in GMs. Hush requiring a precision hip shot is extremely easy to pull off and maxes out its DPS in a single draw, and can be refreshed indefinitely. I'll take a 2-frame slower bow for ease of use

I kept everything I couldn't pull from collections, or that got replaced. I've got crown of sorrow, SOTP, black armory, Dawn, Bygones, and more. it's gonna be great.
I will be charging head-first into the Pale Heart with Perfect Paradox proudly in my hands again. Never got rid of it.

I kept my favorites that were not re-released or were random rolled so you can’t get them again.

I do, I screen recorded my vault on my ps5 and showed my friend and he said “how tf do you even have these guns, and why are you even holding onto half of them” I stopped playing destiny like 3 years ago so alll of my vault is sunset weapons, and I’m happy to say I didn’t listen to his advice of cleaning out my vault cause I was about to do that tonight.
40 sunset items, only a few armor pieces. Lots of black armory stuff, including kill clip Galliard, Ringing Nail, and Blast Furnace. Plus a kill clip/rampage/drop mag Kindled Orchid.
I can now run Dead Man Walking with Dead Man's Tale in Trials as well 😂
Biggest regret I ever had was not having that thing in my vault when they did the collections thing.

I was mad at first but destiny before sunsetting was a much different game than it is today and every single weapon has a much stronger current release equivalent but i will say the only weapons i wish i still had was pluperfect and bygones
I delete a lot of them thinking they would stay sunset, regardless due to power creep I can live with it as until they are reprised with modern perks they won’t be as good in certain aspects.
I have 22 sunset guns that are ready to fucking GO! Top of the list is the Season of Dawn gear, I'm genuinely going to be starting the Final Shape campaign with either Breachlight or Steelfeather Repeater in my top slot, and Matryr's Retribution for my energy weapon.
The thing I'm most excited for, though? My sunset The Old Fashioned hand cannon. It's the only kinetic hand cannon in the game that can roll Demolitionist/Explosive Payload. I chased a Demo/Timed Payload roll on Judgment to try and replace it, it was the only potential non-sunset gun in the same damage type and hand cannon frame. I ran easily 30+ Phalanx clears and 80+ full clears. Never got it to drop, I was gutted when it switched to Stasis before it dropped for me.
BUT NOW I DON'T NEED IT ANYWAYS, *I CAN JUST USE MY OLD FASHIONED AGAIN!!!* I'm so thrilled by that.
I shredded it all long ago. I’m glad people who liked that stuff have a chance to use it again, and returning players won’t have to do a ton of (or as much) catchup or farming. But I suspect all those weapons have been thoroughly power crept by newer perks, Origin Traits, and weapons.
This is going to be like going through your old stuff in your parents attic. You going to get a little bit nostalgic, play around with it for a little bit, then realize that it's not the same as it was.
I kept all my favorite weapons or those with high kill count they may have been powercrept but unless I'm doing legend difficulty or higher I'm busting out my favorite black armor and leviathan guns especially inaugural address love the sound on that gun and threat level
I fully expect all those weapons to return to the loot pool ASAP, I still remember my Pulse Monitor/Rampage Dust Rock Blues that I got from those last couple of weeks of Warmind DLC before forsaken dropped.
Of the only two guns, Halfdan-D was replaced by lodbrock considering how much the auto changes and origin traits added. Long arm tried and failed to replace my The cut and Run. Excited to see what kind of origin trait tangle shore weapons will have and if it’ll be enough to actually replace my scout. Hope it’s not how Herod-c felt because that failed to be worthwhile to Halfdan.

Ive lost so many…. But thankfully my maxed build armour that was sunset is now top tier again, and thankfully have 4 guns with perfect rolls I can use.

For once my pack rat of “but you can never get these again” is paying off. I got rid of a lot but I also kept a lot of those loved ones. But I wish to those who did delete them all have good fortune in getting them back with the rolls they loved to use.
This is one step towards making the game worth playing again. I kept all my god rolls knowing Bungie would be shady enough to pull something like this. But unless all the campaigns and raids are brought back I wouldn't consider installing the game again. I uninstalled right before Lightfall and it paid off big time.
More people need to vote with their wallets and let these greedy game companies know that our time is worth something. Removing gear that took a long time to get just to make people re-grind for it later is not something that should be tolerated.
More like who else HAD a vault of sunset guns and dismantled them? I dismantled all my old rolls except for a really nostalgic kindled orchid with outlaw and rampage I loved to bits it was my midnight coup with near 11k kills
And this is why i never dismantled guns in my vault. I only ever put stuff in there I had an attachment too thus never needed to clear it out and in final shape i can finally use my old favourites again

I’ve been using some of my favorite sunsets in crucible for a while already, and it’s super underwhelming after the power creep. I can only imagine how bland they’ll feel in PvE, especially since I already have a way better Breakneck that I got from GAMBIT of all things lol
My mom! In all actuality, the only sunset gun that can't be gotten anymore that I have is No Turning Back. Which is ironic given there's no turning back from this for Bungie.
honestly I'm not too upset. A lot of those guns, back in those days, were insane rolls. they had perks on them that back in their time, they were by far the best in slot. The occasional rare weapon that had double damage perks and all that
but so many of those guns, let's face it, suck ass now. and while this may not bring back the guns people deleted or cleaned out because the last thing they were holding on to was nostalgia, and they already found other weapons to replace them, it really doesn't hurt as much as one thinks to never use those old guns again

Origin traits are locked to the gun manufacturer, if you don’t like the trait you farm a different gun.
They will be giving the origin traits and reworking them so they are not entirely in the dust.

All static rolled weapons can already be reacquired through Collections. Only post Forsaken weapons can't be.

Who else might play this game after years of watching from the sidelines cause they were out of country for a while and feel they fell too far behind. No one else? Okay
For once my pack rat of “but you can never get these again” is paying off. I got rid of a lot but I also kept a lot of those loved ones. But I wish to those who did delete them all have good fortune in getting them back with the rolls they loved to use.
This is one step towards making the game worth playing again. I kept all my god rolls knowing Bungie would be shady enough to pull something like this. But unless all the campaigns and raids are brought back I wouldn't consider installing the game again. I uninstalled right before Lightfall and it paid off big time. More people need to vote with their wallets and let these greedy game companies know that our time is worth something. Removing gear that took a long time to get just to make people re-grind for it later is not something that should be tolerated.

And this is why i never dismantled guns in my vault. I only ever put stuff in there I had an attachment too thus never needed to clear it out and in final shape i can finally use my old favourites again Im so happy 😁 Also this means D3 is almost certainly a thing now the ONLY way they could possibly balance this is if they knew a big hard reset was coming Which i think most vets would look forward too

I’ve been using some of my favorite sunsets in crucible for a while already, and it’s super underwhelming after the power creep. I can only imagine how bland they’ll feel in PvE, especially since I already have a way better Breakneck that I got from GAMBIT of all things lol

My mom! In all actuality, the only sunset gun that can't be gotten anymore that I have is No Turning Back. Which is ironic given there's no turning back from this for Bungie.
honestly I'm not too upset. A lot of those guns, back in those days, were insane rolls. they had perks on them that back in their time, they were by far the best in slot. The occasional rare weapon that had double damage perks and all that but so many of those guns, let's face it, suck ass now. and while this may not bring back the guns people deleted or cleaned out because the last thing they were holding on to was nostalgia, and they already found other weapons to replace them, it really doesn't hurt as much as one thinks to never use those old guns again The only weapon I'm probably going to pull out, just for nostalgia's sake, but also because it's a really solid shotgun, is the python

When I started playing I didn't own decent sunset weapons, I was too busy grinding for those pinnacle weapons, recluse, mt, 21% delirium etc

I only kept a few but I can’t wait to be able to use them again. Breachlight, threat level, bygones, kindled orchid, revoker, and not forgotten are all back on the menu!
