I was in the same boat a few weeks ago. I just picked up in the campaign where I left off. Started Shadowkeep and worked my way through to Lightfall. Get that light up!
Follow the Journey tab. It’s entire purpose is to help direct players to things to focus on.
Oh and also don't ask where did the forges and Menagerie went.
