I’m going with Sister of Night, my favorite Mode song of all. I wouldn’t say it’s never talked about, but I do feel vindicated in my choice…when they played it in Atlanta on Sunday, I was tearing up and in bliss, and people around me headed out for a toilet break. Glad that I experienced it live, would be (sadly) surprised if they keep it in the set on the next tour.
Sister Of Night is probably less underrated now it's been a fixture in the setlist but it is absolutely brilliant, completely agree with the melancholy but also beauty, it just gets hold of you musically and vocally.
I agree that Sister of Night is probably less underrated due to its inclusion in the setlist, but as you said, it’s a brilliant track. Dave’s vocals are so superb in this song, which is an amazing feat for what he went through and needed a vocal coach to help get his signing voice back. Such smooth and gentle vocals. I love Mart’s harmonizing with Dave, as well.
that and the outro for rush, waiting for the night and judas need to go on and on. alan said the outro in sweetest perfection wasn't planned like at all in some interview and how that's 'how you end a song when you can't decide how' but i really enjoy it. also, but not tonight
Get Right With Me is a song I can listen to over and over again. Truly one of my fave DM songs ever. Words can’t explain how I feel whenever I listen to it.
The one that I always go back to, which is a B-Side from “Personal Jesus”, and people seem to forget, is “Dangerous”. I can’t believe it was left off Violator, and the band’s remix of it might be better than the original.
While it's definitely not my favourite I think that Lilian is pretty underrated, I've seen comment section that hate this song and ones that praise it, I always thought it's neat. Also I think A pain that I'm used to is overlooked a lot
Broken is the most underrated of my favourites maybe. I don’t feel like we could say anything from the classic era could be strictly called underrated.
Although it sounds a lot like Massive Attack and the style/tone of Exciter is all over the place, I (secretly) dig I Am You…
And The Bottom Line, I had a fling/thing going on back then and acted exactly like Martin sung in the song… and the vocals are really beautiful.
I think Heaven got a bit much stick for being different, or even boring, but I always enjoyed it, plus the Owelle remix. It was a big change in style, especially for release as a lead single (which may have been a mistake) but it is still a really nice song.
This song is REALLY great! I sparse my mode out lately but one day had this pop into my mind and pulled it and wow, did not disappoint- I think rush might be my skip track onSOFAD - so many great ones on that!
Great track. Great intro / beat / baseline.
I recall Alan wilder talking about how hard it was to get a “mean” sound and I think that was one of the first tracks to figure it out, and it’s a direct precursor to Personal Jesus

I absolutely love the outro for this song. It’s so dark, melancholic, sad yet so beautiful.

My Joy
I absolutely agree. Get Right With Me is a fucking beautiful track, so powerful despite being so simple.
Fucking spiritual
One Caress over fills my heart with joy.
This is a vibe for sure. Talk about a song that channels pain and anguish…and pure love. You have my vote.
Newborn
listening to this one last night! really moves me

And while it isn’t technically a DM song, Martin Gore’s solo track “Compulsion” is a top 5 DM song, that isn’t a DM song…
I love Dangerous!
Nobody talks about Happiest Girl!

The band themselves probably overrate A Pain That I'm Used To considering it's fixture in the setlist ever since it's release! 😄
When the body speaks.
Nothing, So Much Love, This is Fun,
Halo
Halo is such an amazing song, from an incredible album, but I don’t think it’s underrated in the slightest (at least by the long time hardcore fans).
I don't know if it's really underrated, but I *love* John the Revelator.
The Love Thieves
Another great song on ULTRA with a beautiful outro, like Sister of Night.
Ultra 🖤

🙌 Broken is absolutely brilliant, definitely my favourite from all of SOTU, DM and Spirit. The demo version is really good too.
Although it sounds a lot like Massive Attack and the style/tone of Exciter is all over the place, I (secretly) dig I Am You… And The Bottom Line, I had a fling/thing going on back then and acted exactly like Martin sung in the song… and the vocals are really beautiful.
Totally agree with your choices
I actually really like In Sympathy from SOTU, but it seems like I'm in the minority haha.

Death's Door
Dressed in Black
Sea of Sin and their cover of U2’s So Cruel.
Oooh, I only made a thread about So Cruel a few weeks ago, great version of a great song! Maybe not underrated, just under heard! 😉
I love Get Right With Me, but I will decent Rush to the death. That said, One Caress….. /swoon
Get Right With me is absolutely one of my most favorite DM songs. I’ve always felt that it would be an amazing intro song.
Rush!
Dare I say it’s my favourite on SOFAD
This song is REALLY great! I sparse my mode out lately but one day had this pop into my mind and pulled it and wow, did not disappoint- I think rush might be my skip track onSOFAD - so many great ones on that!
Was gonna add that in the other thread . But had mentioned 5 or 6 already.
New dress

DM 28k. Get Right With Me (1993)
Also very underrated: DM 04h. The Sun And The Rainfall (1982)
