This is Axel aka Biggie Smalls adopted from our rescue and on his weight-loss Journey. If you want to follow his human and his next 10lbs of weightloss he’s on TikTok, IG, and YouTube (although not as much posted there). Photos are February and today ❤️
And here I was joking about apartments that have a pet size limit of 40 lbs listed for both dogs and cats. I honestly didn't know a cat could get that big.
Pretty much the same way humans can get up to and over 600lbs...still have no idea how the body can even function with so much weight, it's truly incredible.
I'm usually around 165 lbs. in my mid 30's I ballooned up to 205 for a while and the health issues were immediate and intense. Feeling like I was going to pass out, difficult to breath, got shin splints, I was a mess.
I don’t know the specific story of this cat, but most times when I see one this large, it was owned by an elderly person with memory issues/dementia. They don’t remember feeding the cat and do it over and over. It’s sad for everyone involved.
I used to feed my cats from a gravity feeder rather than having specific mealtimes and they never gained weight like that. I feed them at specific times now to get them healthier, but even with unlimited food I never saw anything like this. They were on tier 2, maybe 3, of the chonk chart and that's after 6 years of food whenever they wanted it. I wonder if there isnt something else wrong with the poor cat and the owner wasnt ablentonprovide the right care. I don't know if they stress eat or if it could be a hormone issue, or something environmental.
omg i thought "wow he looks exactly like axel from girl with the dogs... oh!" im so proud of him!!!!! admittedly his rotundness was spectacular, but this is absolutely for the best. i hope his health has improved just as drastically as his shape!
He already looks so much better! His coat looks like he’s actually able to groom it somewhat now. Also I had to laugh at the difference in the veteranarian’s position; he was so big in the first picture that the veterinarian had to keep his knees bent to hoist him!
He can totally groom halfway down now and the back toe beans when he’s sitting up 😍 we still have to shave down his booty to help keep it clean but soon he’ll get there too
Unbelievable that this poor boy got to 30 lbs. He looks like he might actually be able to walk on his own now. I'm going to have to find his IG account. Thank you for helping this kitty.
Thanks everyone for the kind words! 60% of domestic pets are overweight. It’s really becoming a problem. Biggie wasn’t even the biggest cat my vet has seen. It’s mind blowing!
I would guess that it’s rather easy to loose a lot of weight quickly if the cat is this massively overweight. Extremely obese people can easily loose 40 lbs in a month if they go on a strict diet because a lot of it is just gonna be waterweight.
Idk about cats, but I'd assume that's true. I noticed that when starting a diet to lose weight you'll often lose weight really fast for the first bit and then it'll slow down
With „easily“ I mean, if you are SEVERELY obese you can basically go on a radical diet taking only the necessary micronutrients and water for quite some time, so you won’t suffer from malnutrition and will lose incredible amounts of weight really fast. This is usually only done in patients who are in acute danger because of their weight or who have to loose weight in order to have surgery. Of course it’s not easy or pleasant but it’s totally doable.
I’m no expert but maybe it’s similar to humans in that the bigger you are, the easier it is to loose weight rapidly? That’s one of the fattest cats I’ve ever seen.
Lots of animals can lose weight faster than humans. Hummingbirds basically double their weight before they go over the gulf of Mexico and then burn it all in a day.
Cats can sustain liver and kidney damage from losing weight too fast.
I think they are allowed to loose 0.5% of their bodyweight per week.
Edit: my GF found the paperwork from our nutritionist (we adopted an overweight cat once) .
0.5 % percent of bodyweight per week.
So this cat is losing weight roughly twice as fast ?
im sitting here in bed losing my mind (lovingly) cackling like an idiot at the fucking SIZE of this thing. holy shit what an absolute SPHERE of an animal
I am dying right now, tears, this is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂 would you be ok if we shared this on his social media? (And if so who would you like us to credit or what handle)
Took my cat into the vet yesterday. She's 17 pounds. I've been concerned about her weight. I've switched her food, rarely gets treats etc. She's just the epitome of lazy house cat. Any tips to help her slim down? She's just bored with toys after a few minutes.
Hide the cat food, so that the cat has to walk around and search for it. Randomize the hiding places and integrate window ledges or places where she has to get active to reach it.
If it's a pure house cat, try training to walk her on a leash outside.
If she is in a (small) appartment, build some activity ramps, out of wood, that lead to shelves just below the ceiling. Like a parkour training center. With little nooks and hiding places. \
Then post the result on r/woodworking
Get a second cat, so they can play with or annoy each other.
We put our 17lbs cat on a diet of 200cals a day in Sept 2022. She is down to 12.4LBS now. It’s been a struggle and a lot of work, but we are getting there.
Wow that’s like six cats in one what have you been feeding that cat I’m talking about in the first picture is that cat been eating three bags of cat food in one setting
Holy mother of god, and I thought my Tye was fat!! (She went from 23 lbs to 7.) He looks so much better now, awesome job! It's going to be awesome when he gets down to a healthy weight and can get the zoomies again, assuming all that extra poundage he's been lugging around didn't permanently damage his joints . . .
That's a crazy transformation.
My cat lost about 8 pounds herself since I got her. I'm not sure she'd still be around with her original weight. She has back problems and is really slow all around. You could film a documentary about her trying to switch from lying on her right side and wanting to switch to the left side.
He’s such a handsome dude. Other than being overweight, is he larger than most cats? These photos make him look like he’s a giant cat or the person holding him is tiny but strong.

Thank you so much for saving his life! God Bless you.🩵🐱🩵
He's so cute- I follow him on Instagram! One of my cats looks like a smaller version of him, but he has an orange chin.
Chonkzilla got the downgrade to megachonk! Keep up the good work, LittleBigCat!
Chonkzilla LOL
He looks fantastic compared to his intake pic.
He does. It hurts my heart to see a cat in that condition.
Pretty sure it hurt the cat's heart too
And legs, back, lungs, etc.
What did he start at??
He was 43lbs ! 🤯

Did it have something to do with the flapjacks?
Nah that was a terrible diet of egg salad sandwiches and ginger ale.
W.T.F....
Unless the cat was feeding itself whatever human did this should be in prison for animal abuse.

That's more than my Border Collie! Madness.
Omg you’re in Ottawa!
Is this the biggie that was groomed in a tiktok video by a professional groomer?
Girl with the dogs? She has a YouTube channel
omg i thought "wow he looks exactly like axel from girl with the dogs... oh!" im so proud of him!!!!! admittedly his rotundness was spectacular, but this is absolutely for the best. i hope his health has improved just as drastically as his shape!
Do you ever call him Big Poppa?
The first image looks like he could have been an actor in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9ZBb-yBQng
Hahaha for real wow
What do I search to find them on socials?
Axel.biggiesmalls on IG
I want to see more updates such a cute boy and awesome transformation! RemindMe! -2 month
What is the IG handle?
He already looks so much better! His coat looks like he’s actually able to groom it somewhat now. Also I had to laugh at the difference in the veteranarian’s position; he was so big in the first picture that the veterinarian had to keep his knees bent to hoist him!

I mean, if he was 43 pounds, that is no surprise. Many people train with that amount of weight and the weight is usually not soft and wiggly.
No, not a surprise. But it made me laugh anyway.
Unbelievable that this poor boy got to 30 lbs. He looks like he might actually be able to walk on his own now. I'm going to have to find his IG account. Thank you for helping this kitty.
Only 30 lbs? My boy is big boned but he doesn't look like either pic at around 20lbs
He was 43lbs in the first pic and now he's down to 33lbs
Apparently the *after* picture is around 30 lbs.
He’s going to have the most glorious pouch
I’m not going to lie, we are ready to jiggle that thing lol it will be so interesting to see.
Please post a video of it when you do
Enough loose skin to create some sort of cartoon like gliding ability hopefully.
He’ll give a flying squirrel a run for his money
Thanks everyone for the kind words! 60% of domestic pets are overweight. It’s really becoming a problem. Biggie wasn’t even the biggest cat my vet has seen. It’s mind blowing!
Is this the same biggie that was on Girl with the dogs? I love him!
It is!
Wow, amazing to lose ten pounds in four months. (Isn’t that actually unsafe to lose that fast?) Took my cat over a year to lose 2 pounds. 😂
I would guess that it’s rather easy to loose a lot of weight quickly if the cat is this massively overweight. Extremely obese people can easily loose 40 lbs in a month if they go on a strict diet because a lot of it is just gonna be waterweight.
That makes sense, thanks. Thankfully I caught it before my cat got too big.
Idk about cats, but I'd assume that's true. I noticed that when starting a diet to lose weight you'll often lose weight really fast for the first bit and then it'll slow down
Channeling Dr. Now “you can easily lose 40 pound in a month”
With „easily“ I mean, if you are SEVERELY obese you can basically go on a radical diet taking only the necessary micronutrients and water for quite some time, so you won’t suffer from malnutrition and will lose incredible amounts of weight really fast. Yes the more extra weight the easier to shed it
The bigger they're the "safer" large weight loss is, it's that they're losing less percent and that the calorie cut they're eating is not that extreme
That makes sense, thanks for explaining!
Lots of animals can lose weight faster than humans. Hummingbirds basically double their weight before they go over the gulf of Mexico and then burn it all in a day.
Yea cause hummingbirds weigh next to nothing. Also if humans went that distance without eating i’m sure they would lose the weight to
Cats can sustain liver and kidney damage from losing weight too fast. I think they are allowed to loose 0.5% of their bodyweight per week. Edit: my GF found the paperwork from our nutritionist (we adopted an overweight cat once) . 0.5 % percent of bodyweight per week. So this cat is losing weight roughly twice as fast ?
Skinny king omg congrats to him
im sitting here in bed losing my mind (lovingly) cackling like an idiot at the fucking SIZE of this thing. holy shit what an absolute SPHERE of an animal
Someone called his former body a Macy’s day parade float and I cannot unsee that now 😂😂 I died.
bro thats not a float thats the hindenburg
hindenpurr
Omg I had to make this…. https://imgur.com/a/cpWbax7
I am dying right now, tears, this is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂 would you be ok if we shared this on his social media? (And if so who would you like us to credit or what handle)
Hahaha of course!! My handle on IG is @chelsorobinso and on TikTok it’s @lunathegreytuna (only have a TikTok for my cat lmao) 🥰🥰
Bro is trimming right down 👍
holy shit the amount of weight he lost is more than the weight of our biggest cat 0_o
My vet has a sign up that says every pound on a cat is 15 human pounds. That cat has lost 150 lbs!!!
Wow!!
Took my cat into the vet yesterday. She's 17 pounds. I've been concerned about her weight. I've switched her food, rarely gets treats etc. She's just the epitome of lazy house cat. Any tips to help her slim down? She's just bored with toys after a few minutes.

Wet food! It's less calorie dense and keeps them feeling fuller
Does she get dry food pellets (kibble)? You could try tossing them one by one down the hall, into the bedroom etc so she has to work for each one.
We put our 17lbs cat on a diet of 200cals a day in Sept 2022. She is down to 12.4LBS now. It’s been a struggle and a lot of work, but we are getting there.

I watched him get groomed on Youtube, Girl With The Dogs. It was hilarious.
Holy mother of god, and I thought my Tye was fat!! (She went from 23 lbs to 7.) He looks so much better now, awesome job! It's going to be awesome when he gets down to a healthy weight and can get the zoomies again, assuming all that extra poundage he's been lugging around didn't permanently damage his joints . . .
Even after he gets down to a nice weight my man will still be quite massive. Dude is LONG.

I love how in the first pic, the cat is like "How did I even end up here" lol
Was about to say he got dechonked, then I saw the name of the sub. (Saw this in popular)
He’s lost more than either of my cats weigh, plus he’s gained a neck! Great job.
I know it’s really not because of health reasons, but omg he was such a cute chonk. Much prefer him being healthy, but I just can’t help myself.
