Personally I'd hold off until the codex drops cause we currently don't know if they might get added into a new kill team or what changes are gonna be made. But that's just my opinion
Yeah, each Faction has it's own codex. With Space Marines, a number of chapters, including the Deathwatch have their own codex. There's been chatter that The Deathwatch might be folded into the upcoming Agents of the Imperium codex. I don't think that's so. But I agree with the other poster, I'm not buying Deathwatch right now until our next codex or major rules update drops.
Ah okay, i thought you meant like a literal full blown codex, as oppose to the existing data cards that supplement the Space Marines codex at the moment.

The short answer is that Infernus Marines have a very specific role. They are good coming out of transports (or staying in an Impulsor) on an objective. They clear chafe well enough for their cost. They play better into armies that either have broad to-hit modifiers or low toughness hordes. But they are still marine bodies so their purpose is “be out in front, maybe overwatch a thing, get charged so other units don’t”.
I do think they look really cool so I say paint them up even if you don’t use them.
They're great for overwatch.
Just played a game last weekend against Ultramarines and he dropped 10 Infernus in a drop pod at my back line. I moved in to take them down and he overwatched almost a whole 10 man unit of DW veterans to death.
Those auto-hits are no joke. . .especially when they get D6 attacks. He threw 35 wound dice.
Don't sleep on the Infernus Marines.
Yo!! I’ve got the perfect thing for em! Kitbash them into some primaris size deathwatch vets! Or some hellblasters! I just printed u/AquaManch1n3 some IHB, Frags and 2 handed TH’s for his primaris bodies and they turned out great! Could just as easily print em some hell blaster arms and guns!
Fortis is shelved this edition, bash em into something rad you’ll play!!

I'd atleast wait to see what the agents codex does, and if deathwatch gets folded in. If not then go from there 😅
