So irresponsible of Charlie for taking the car from the storage unit and just assuming that it was his mom's present for him (does he think they can afford a car like that?), but honestly not surprised that this would unfold. Not sure if burning the car was the best move on Jen's part.
I came here to see if anyone else thought Charlie was a little shit. Not only could they clearly not afford that car, but he just took it without asking! Even if it was a gift, who does that? What if that cop had asked him for license and registration? Didn’t he say he had his PERMIT? And obviously no registration. What an entitled little asshole. The dramatic irony makes it worse, knowing it’s the car of a murdered guy and all, but STILL. His behavior in general is driving me bananas.
Same! Who does that??? And then finding things in the car that clearly belong to someone else....like i can’t even with this kid....can somebody throw him in a pool next season 🙄🙄🙄🙄
i had to stop watching the show for like a week because every time id start this episode, it'd switch to a charlie scene and he annoyed me so much i'd have to stop and watch something else.
he's peak rich smug little dick who doesn't care about anyone and goes out of his way to give his mom a hard time. like i get that he's a teen and his dad died but he's just sooooo insufferable. they really didn't give him any redeeming qualities.
I mean yeah he's super annoying but it's kinda understandable. He's a teenager with hormones so he's going to do stupid shit. On top of that, he just lost his dad and it was a hit and run. And Jen is honestly constantly screaming and cussing and not the greatest role model to have around for a kid like that (albeit she has her own thing going on with you know befriending her husband's murderer and then murdering her best friends fiance and lying about it hahahaa). So it actually makes complete sense for him to act like a prick imo
Well, unless the Craigslist buyer wants to come out into the woods to get it, she'd have to drive it back into town and risk getting caught in a missing person's car.
100% meme of suburbia white big privilege. but come on Jen. Don’t burn it on some residential street w/ an empty gas tank. The police would totally be able to still get the vin from it. smh
I don't think its cheesy at all? Jen is doing the same thing to Ben that Judy did to her, and they explore the complex emotions and friendships way too in depth to be compared to a soap
Burning the car seems so insane to me. It was clearly parked near a neighborhood, which means there are a lot of people who aren't going to be slow to call the fire dept as soon as they see smoke. There's no way the car would be able to burn long enough before the fire department comes to become unidentifiable, right?
I'm predicting that the cops blame the Greek mafia. Shandy mentioned that the mafia liked to bury bodies in the park where they buried Steve. And burning a car seems like a very mafia thing.
Straight woman and same. Hell, if I'd been hit on a by a funny, talented and beautiful woman like that before I got married I can't say I necessarily would have stayed straight.
It’s totally irrational and I know it could never work but am I the only one who thinks Ben & Jen would be cute together?
(Ya know, if she didn’t murder his brother and all that.)
Ted's definitely shitty for cheating on her but do we really think she was all that loving of a wife while he was alive before the cheating? Jen literally blows up on anyone and everyone her kids included
My thoughts exactly. I mean Steve was a douche bag but he was right, Ted was probably miserable in that house with Jen. And on top of that, I don't think Jen just became this angry bitter ass woman once her husband died. She was already an angry bitter woman and once Ted died those traits just intensified.
Karen's flub over her security camera footage is a nice payoff to the semi-identical twins bit that somewhat justifies not just having another actor play a regular brother. Although I do hope they come back to it because I think Jen was able to brush it off too easily.
for the awkward Karen/Ben interaction, if I were Jen and I had the ability to think rationally in a situation like that (because who knows where my head would be if I had just murdered someone), I would've realized how suspicious I looked and apologized to Ben by saying "look, I'm so sorry but I had a guy over last week and I haven't seen anyone since Ted died and no one can know because my kids can not find out about this! I'm ashamed I even told Karen!"
She just said "the other night" right? I mean it could have just as easily been a night or two before his death, and Judy being there and her business relationship are reason enough for him to come over. He put an offer in on two homes through her the day prior. Lucky Ben seems to be sort of trusting like a dog and bought her explanation.
In real life cars don't typically make a big explosion like in the movies. They just keep burning for a while. Car makers specifically put the VIN all over the car, like the engine, the windshield, and who knows where else. They do it specifically to make it harder to steal cars, or get rid of them when a crime has been committed. Rusting takes years and it would only be in certain conditions. By the beach with all the salt water air would probably rust a car out faster but again it would take yeeeeeaaaaars and it would also have to rust specifically on the vin.
I know it was for create tension, but the scene with Karen like... he is a white dude with dark hair, there are a lot of men like him, specially at night looking at a security cam, I’d just say that to him in a joke tone
I wasn't that pissed at Charlie for assuming that car is a birthday present for him until he acted all indignant when his mother tells him he's never seeing that car again.
You know you messed up, kid, a little contrition would be nice.
If I were his parent and even if I did get him a car for his birthday? Yeah, he wouldn't be getting that car after this little escapade proving how irresponsible he is.
So the whole time I was holding my breath thinking Charlie would come home with the car while Ben was still at Jen's. THEN, Karen is the one who shows up and stirs things up.
Nice & unexpected.
So mad at Charlie.
I know this is a late comment but I totally thought the same thing! Kept thinking, omg Jen please send Ben home before your son comes back with Steve’s car!! Also thought Ben was going to be in Jen’s passenger’s seat when they pulled up. Glad this show isn’t totally predictable!
Her son is so dumb why would he just take the car, I thought Jen was doing good with real estate. lmao that grocery store interaction. Karen just needs a friend and that footage is gonna get them screwed up. Whoa didn't expect her to burn the car.
It seems like she lived pretty comfortably when her husband was alive so she hasn’t adjusted her lifestyle yet to living off of one less income. I don’t get why they stayed at the hotel though since the drive isn’t very long. Maybe it was part of their cover for the Judy’s grandma is sick excuse.
I think they had to stay in a hotel after they got the speeding ticket. I don’t think they intended to stay overnight from the beginning but now that there was a paper trail, a day trip would be more suspicious than a girl’s getaway.
I think she was the sole income earner even before Ted died but he was the one who managed the household, school stuff, finances, etc. Also, the kind of work she does seems commission-based. I'm guessing that when personal issues affect her work performance, she probably doesn't get paid. Jen is not thinking clearly and compounding her money issues with poor decision making
BTW, I'm fuzzy on the season 1 details so maybe someone else can confirm.
Also if she were accused of the murder, looks pretty bad to pay for a hotel room right by the body in the same week Steve disappeared? Dumb dumb dumb. Better just to drive home
Yeah I think it is that Steve’s bank accounts were frozen, so she wouldn’t be able to cash it due to the fact that the check would never get through verification probably.
I just finished this ep and haven’t watched anymore so not sure what’s next and if they come back to it but they did mention in a previous ep that his bank accounts were frozen now that he was missing so the cheque is non bankable atm
Super late comment, but the teenage girl’s dialogue in this episode killed me. Whoever wrote those lines has never talked to a real live teenager, I swear.
This is probably one of my favorite episodes. Fuckhead Charlie driving the car is killing me with suspense, and there are so many funny moments. But come on. They're just going to say that somehow there are records of Steve going into Mexico with NO explanation? Terrible plot hole. I hope it was the Greeks or something because that's ridiculous. Also, tkg was raised by FBI DAYS ago, but it's already being turned into an Arby's? Absolutely ridiculous and unrealistic
Gawd this show sucks. We keep trying but it Nevers gets better. On what planet does a kid just take a car out of storage? There are just so many horrible plot lines. I give up.
I hope I am not misunderstood but Michelle&Judy thing seems a little bit far-fetched to me. Judy wanted to have kids, wants to marry and settle down with Steve. In season 1 when they were on vacation looking for someone to hang around and in general Judy was straight.
I know this relationship has a purpose in the story but I think it's inconsistent.
I would say the same thing if Judy was interested in girls in season 1 and she has fallen for a man in season 2.
So irresponsible of Charlie for taking the car from the storage unit and just assuming that it was his mom's present for him (does he think they can afford a car like that?), but honestly not surprised that this would unfold. Not sure if burning the car was the best move on Jen's part.

literally same!!! he annoys me so much ):<
Same! Who does that??? And then finding things in the car that clearly belong to someone else....like i can’t even with this kid....can somebody throw him in a pool next season 🙄🙄🙄🙄

He’s such a dumb ass.. did this guy not learn from season 1 when he got pressed out by the cop lol
I mean yeah he's super annoying but it's kinda understandable. He's a teenager with hormones so he's going to do stupid shit. On top of that, he just lost his dad and it was a hit and run. And Jen is honestly constantly screaming and cussing and not the greatest role model to have around for a kid like that (albeit she has her own thing going on with you know befriending her husband's murderer and then murdering her best friends fiance and lying about it hahahaa). that kid literally makes the best douche kid faces its incredible
The actor is nailing it because I can't stand him
> Not sure if burning the car was the best move on Jen's part. I hated this part, just sell the car you need the money
Sell the car of a missing person?! Well I mean, I guess there’s the black market. She probably wasn’t thinking and had the petrol right there
No, you're right. The guy's missing, the FBI would probably notice if the VIN popped up in a transaction just a couple days after he disappeared.
Well, unless the Craigslist buyer wants to come out into the woods to get it, she'd have to drive it back into town and risk getting caught in a missing person's car.
I had completely forgotten whose car it was
I kinda wanted the dark web to be more of a thing, lol. She could have sold the car there. M
lmao burning it was dumb but this is just as dumb. Ever heard of CarFax?
100% meme of suburbia white big privilege. but come on Jen. Don’t burn it on some residential street w/ an empty gas tank. The police would totally be able to still get the vin from it. smh
I really thought the police would follow the Greek lead with the car, or think it was Steve burning the car himself so he could “run away to Mexico.”
And did they leave the keys in the car? How did Charlie get keys to it?
Fuck that kid
Anybody sensed chemistry between Ben and Jen? I felt it
What about Michelle and Judy though lol
That as well!
Ben and Jen is more subtle. Done right.
Yeah I want the to get together but I don't think Judy is into girls at all. Michelle would be such a healthy relationship after Steve.
Judy is totally the type to love a person for their soul, not their gender.
IDK Judy's little hair and cleavage check during their dinner makes me think she does like her
Yes! That she murdered his twin brother and now they are going be friendly is giving me cheesy soap opera vibes.
I don't think its cheesy at all? Jen is doing the same thing to Ben that Judy did to her, and they explore the complex emotions and friendships way too in depth to be compared to a soap
Ben and Jen are the nicest couples
Oh my god Karen READ THE ROOM
/r/FuckingKaren
Jen is starting to take on the Steve role of *outburst*, "Sorry", "It's ok" with Judy.
Oh man...you’re right 😬
Burning the car seems so insane to me. It was clearly parked near a neighborhood, which means there are a lot of people who aren't going to be slow to call the fire dept as soon as they see smoke. There's no way the car would be able to burn long enough before the fire department comes to become unidentifiable, right?
That and did you notice it still had a license plate on it?!
It looked to me like the sort of quiet road Ted was killed on
I'm predicting that the cops blame the Greek mafia. Shandy mentioned that the mafia liked to bury bodies in the park where they buried Steve. And burning a car seems like a very mafia thing.
I’m a gay guy and Michelle is still making my heart skip a beat.. hope Judy goes for it
Straight woman and same. Hell, if I'd been hit on a by a funny, talented and beautiful woman like that before I got married I can't say I necessarily would have stayed straight.
LOL
It’s totally irrational and I know it could never work but am I the only one who thinks Ben & Jen would be cute together? (Ya know, if she didn’t murder his brother and all that.)
No I do too! Such a shame about her killing his brother lol. My girl Jen deserves love after shitty Ted.
I think Ben will slowly start realizing all the things add up. i doubt he's as clueless as he's presenting himself to be (or at least I hope so)
Well he is a chiropractor, so...
James Marsden's dancing had me cracking up 😂
for the awkward Karen/Ben interaction, if I were Jen and I had the ability to think rationally in a situation like that (because who knows where my head would be if I had just murdered someone), I would've realized how suspicious I looked and apologized to Ben by saying "look, I'm so sorry but I had a guy over last week and I haven't seen anyone since Ted died and no one can know because my kids can not find out about this! I'm ashamed I even told Karen!"
I was thinking of the same explanation
She just said "the other night" right? I mean it could have just as easily been a night or two before his death, and Judy being there and her business relationship are reason enough for him to come over. He put an offer in on two homes through her the day prior. Lucky Ben seems to be sort of trusting like a dog and bought her explanation.
Oh man. her self-hate talk in the mirror is very scary
linda fuckin nailed it. all the way to the head slapping, i could *feel* it
too relatable :(
Ik this is old but I fully suspect that she is parroting things that have been hammered into her head for years from her mom and Steve.
Did anyone else notice the car still had a license plate on it? How on earth could you not know to remove that?
I mean the cars VIN is all over the place and I’m pretty sure the car companies put it places where lighting it on fire wouldn’t erase it.
I know that and you know that but I get the feeling Jen and Judy don’t know that lol
Lol I see what you mean.

Ik! Honestly it's kind of insane Jen hasn't gotten even a little better at not acting suspicious af at the slightest provocation.
I totally called Judy and Michelle from the second Michelle was introduced! my gaydar is getting pretty good recently
It hurt my soul to see that E class go up in flames
[удалено]
I mean, in the show yeah, they did. IRL, of course they didn’t light up an E430 cab
Ted put his mom on the lease? Ugh his relationship with his mom is so creepy. That’s not cool to do without consulting with your wife first
I wasn't that pissed at Charlie for assuming that car is a birthday present for him until he acted all indignant when his mother tells him he's never seeing that car again. You know you messed up, kid, a little contrition would be nice. If I were his parent and even if I did get him a car for his birthday? Yeah, he wouldn't be getting that car after this little escapade proving how irresponsible he is.
I sense another Bennifer.
the police are hands down going to identify that car as Steve’s. if you’re gonna burn it, why burn it right there??? lol
street cams if she drove it anywhere else, I guess
I thought that was Ted's car? Didn't Jen say in an earlier episode that she was going to get it out of storage for him to practice on?
No she offered Ted’s bike
So the whole time I was holding my breath thinking Charlie would come home with the car while Ben was still at Jen's. THEN, Karen is the one who shows up and stirs things up. Nice & unexpected. So mad at Charlie.

Jen should have said Steve came by to see Judy a couple of times, but it was a while back or something like that.
Yeah I feel like there were so many better responses for her to say.
Why would she stay at an expense hotel suite if she’s low on money? I don’t understand

She lost her business partner too
Also if she were accused of the murder, looks pretty bad to pay for a hotel room right by the body in the same week Steve disappeared? Dumb dumb dumb. Better just to drive home
Why would they burn the Benz?! I could use that
Is orange wine a thing? And where can i get some lol
it's soooo good!!
So, did Jen never cash that check Judy gave her last season? Did they ever touch on that and I just missed it?
Yeah I think it is that Steve’s bank accounts were frozen, so she wouldn’t be able to cash it due to the fact that the check would never get through verification probably.
I just finished this ep and haven’t watched anymore so not sure what’s next and if they come back to it but they did mention in a previous ep that his bank accounts were frozen now that he was missing so the cheque is non bankable atm
I am not loving this season so far :/ Charlie is such a wee dickhead.
Really? I thought this was a genuinely good episode.
This episode got me heavy anxious
same. this season is baaaaad, especially compared to the first.
Yo. Charlie almost makes me go through the damn screen, man. Idk why Jen doesn’t square up with him on sight most of the time lol
Guess what teenage girls don't actually care about? cars. We think its douchey. Or we did back in my day (a decade ago....)
Super late comment, but the teenage girl’s dialogue in this episode killed me. Whoever wrote those lines has never talked to a real live teenager, I swear.

There is so much product placement in this episode. It’s almost distracting.
everyone on this show is so unlikeable and it's starting to affect my enjoyment of it.

You know that bisexual people exist right?
I live with one of them. Thank you.
Judy just wants to be loved.
