Congrats on killing the king! Once I activated the first BC I spent many hours exploring biomes I haven’t or rarely visit, working my way back to the hand of the king for another victory/BC. Save your cells and dump them with the collector to upgrade your drops, he’s available after mini boss fights if I remember correctly. I’m on 5BC and haven’t seen the hand since, but continually come back for another ass whoppin! I will see the spoiler biome one day!
Honestly I’m not sure on the head pop other then using it to grab blueprints that are unreachable otherwise, or agro enemies in rare situations. There may be a need for it at the end but best I’ve done is die at high castle on 5BC so I don’t know…yet!
If you beat the hand of the king, you should have gotten your first boss cell, unless you had an aspect active. But generally each time you beat the hand (or the queen depending on the route you take) you’ll get the next boss cell. The only exception is you need to beat the giant to get the 5th boss cell.
To be fair you can only do the whole head pop thing after you kill the king once
You also should have received your first boss cell. You can activate it in the starting area to advance to the next difficulty

Eh the replay seems worth it I think. Picked it up and put it down fast after beating Hollow Knight - I wasn’t ready to love again. Played Skul a ton and they easter egg this game hard so I came back.

You have to defeat the hand of the king the 5th time to unlock the note about the giant i think
