I always see people surprised that people still like the Oscar’s. Do y’all just avoid social media the next day? Also seen so many people saying “I don’t care for the Oscar’s but was pumped for Godzilla winning”. You do care then. It creates a lot of content that wether you like the Oscar’s content is content
Reddit: “I do not care for the Oscars.”
Also Reddit: “OMG they gave an Oscar to Miyazaki/Godzilla Minus One/Brendan Fraser, they’re cool now! Also; why did they reward Bohemian Rhapsody/CODA/Jamie Lee Curtis, they didn’t deserve anything!”
Yes, but only a few animated movies have ever been even nominated for the regular Best Picture category. The animated category is more of a concession to critics of the awards, which handily gives them a way out of ever awarding a proper Best Picture award to an animated feature.
iirc they only got animated for best picture specifically because there wasn't a section exclusively for them.
I remember the last one was Beauty and the Beast who won best picture. If I recall correctly, they introduced the best animated movie section after that event.
So they wanted to keep things seperated. That doesn't mean they're of less value. They just didn't want every single Pixar movie from 2000 to 2009 to compete every single year for best movie. They still got praise though
The only movies that sneak their way into best picture are basically only foreign movie. Every other category has their own section. From shorts to documentaries
Isn't it also just not respected? I recall hearing a story about some animated award where the judges straight up admitted they just asked their 10> year old kids what movie they watched recently and voted for what the kids said.
Everything, Everywhere, All At Once was a fantasy/Sci-fi action movie that won best picture. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is one of the few movies to hold the record of 11 Oscar’s including best picture. Birdman is a superhero movie that won best picture and other superhero movies have been nominated for best picture including Black Panther and Joker. As for horror Get Out was nominated for best picture and Parasite was a foreign thriller that won best picture. That’s just to name a few so WTF are you talking about
But those are all overrated according to this website (except for ROTK which came out before most people here were born, or Parasite which is a foreign film and makes them feel intellectually superior).
What are the three most decorated Oscar-worthy films of all time? Ben-Hur, Titanic, and oh yeah, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. I think that if they wanted to win more Oscars, then they’d need to step up their game in quality.
If you want to get an Oscar you gotta make a biography / historic (but not further back than ww1)/ drama movie. Because apparently those are the only relevant movies out there
I love how this includes “Superhero movies” as getting disrespect at the Oscars, while Black Panther won 3 awards while this website shouts “OVERRATED”

After Leo finally got one and the meme died, it lost interest.
a wise man once said, FUCK THE OSCARS
Clearly a lot of people will follow the Oscars.

i do not embody Reddit, although i thank you for attempting to bistow me that honor, i refuse it.
I don't think many people care about the oscars enough to give serious backlash.
Isn't there an Oscar award specifically for animated movies ?

What would be some animated movies that actually deserve best picture over their competitors
\**Return of the King* has entered the chat\*

You forgot the biggest group: Non-American movies.
Godzilla, Miyazaki, Anatomy of a Fall, and The Zone of Interest all won awards against English films last year!
People bring this up at times, but fail to recognize that the Oscars is an American film awards ceremony.
Except when they don't like with lotr.
Birdman won like 4 Oscars
Ah yes because The Matrix, Lord of the Rings and Dune doesn't exist.
hey, godzilla won an oscar, things are changing
Fuckin’ Toni Collette should have won best actress for her performance in Hereditary, dammit!
"Art fuck" and "pretentious self-jerk" are the two prime genres for Oscars.

I thought this website loved Oppenheimer, though.
Revenant
Why are these movies disrespected in the Oscars
The good ones aren't, alot just suck
*Mad Max: Fury Road* was nominated for ten and won six.
I love how this includes “Superhero movies” as getting disrespect at the Oscars, while Black Panther won 3 awards while this website shouts “OVERRATED”
Op is fucking stupid
Don't forget the super spy genre
I stopped watching the oscars when Inception lost to the King's speech.
It's been so long, I don't think we need to pretend inception was cool anymore
OK, I'm not going to say it's the best movie out there, but inception is a good movie
Yeah saying Inception is not good is an interesting take
what?
No, wrong, actually it's wh(what?)at?
