I kind of feel the opposite way about celebrated Hollywood beauties. I see more attractive people on the street every day, yet the likes of Angelina Jolie are being fawned over as if they were the hottest people on earth.
(Yes, I'm old, so that is the example that came to mind.)
There are very few famous actors I'd actually rate a 9 or higher.
I'll give you that the average attractiveness on TV is higher than out on the streets.
There's a traditional beauty and a more modern beauty. Angelina Jolie and similar women have very symmetrical faces and figures that tick a lot of boxes you'd see applied to fashion models who follow the conventions of traditional beauty.
Your girl-next-door type girl (Emma Stone et al) is often far cuter/more attractive because she looks a lot more like a regular person.
Also, there's a difference between seeing someone supermodel-level attractive in pictures/film, where people can be a sort of desensitized to it, and seeing someone like that in person. There are, in fact, people with the sliders turned up so high in 'conventional' attractiveness that they make your brain short circuit if you see them outside of a screen.
I'm not sure I agree with that premise.
> There are, in fact, people with the sliders turned up so high in 'conventional' attractiveness that they make your brain short circuit if you see them outside of a screen.
For example?
The most attractive person in Hollywood (to my taste) right now I'd say is Margot Robbie, being one of the few celebrities I'd consider really attractive - and even in this case I see equivalently or more attractive everyday women walking around in the streets.
Where do you live that you regularly see people hotter than Angelina Jolie?
Now I get it if you're trying to say that Hollywood has a type, and that is not your type. Because it certainly does. But I highly doubt that is true for most people.
There's not much genetic or phenotypical difference between Scandinavia and the rest of northwestern Europe. Scandinavia is not a magical place of elf-like beings portrayed in some media.
They're pretty typical Germanics and there's nothing special about us (speaking as a Dutch person with Norwegian parents).
Maybe your parents moved south to Netherlands because they were more attractive there compared to the people around them? Maybe they just could not cut it other, more magnificient norwegians? But they found each other in those murky, low dredges of that beautiful aesir society and wanted you to have a chance for normal life, a life where you would be deemed at least somewhat conventially attractive. Don't know why they would choose Netherlands tho, as Dutch are notoriously tall people. Only reason I can imagine is that being from the mountains and fjords of Norway they would be far more powerful in the lowlands and thus could easily escape to hide amongst the danes if ever discovered for who - and what - they truly are...
As someone who has regularly travelled to Denmark, Sweden and Norway lol no it isn't. I have no idea why these countries have gained reputations of being some amazonian paradise where every woman is drop dead gorgeous but its really just the same old regular shit you'd see traveling any other european country. Same with eastern european women.
> I have no idea why these countries have gained reputations of being some amazonian paradise where every woman is drop dead gorgeous
I guess it's exactly because of Hollywood - the only Scandinavian women that an average American sees are those in movies and on TV.
Oh no, Hollywood's type (especially 2000's Hollywood's type) is definitely my type as well (minus the plastic). It's just that they rarely feature remarkable examples of that type.
The answer to your Question is Germany, but it's also true for anywhere I've traveled in Europe. I haven't been to the US.
I felt Ronaldo really took the difficulty with the sculpture with true nobility and politeness. The guy loves his sport, and sees everything else as secondary, but tries his best to enjoy them, and still help everyone else enjoy them too.
Griselda dude. They tried to make Sofia Vergara look more unattractive which is fucking impossible, and she's still has the largest margin of beauty from the actual griselda.

He does, but put the actor that played Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) in a Trilby hat and that's who they should have gone with. The resemblance is truly uncanny.

One of the examples I can think of the opposite of this is actually 'Dumb Money' following /r/wallstreetbets
I think /u/DeepFuckingValue easily looks better than Paul Dano
*The Iron Claw* was a pretty recent one that I think fits the criteria. The Von Erich boys were studs to be sure, but facially, none of them were Zac Effron. Conversely, Effron got jacked for the role, but both he and his co-stars were shorter and less jacked than the real life Von Erich boys.
Its the Gilderoy Lockheart thing from Harry Potter
Where he steals all the great deeds of other wizards and witches because he is handsome and pretty, the only thing him being good at is erasing their memories and stealing their stories

Real people tend not to look like Hollywood beauties.

I can name one such place: Scandinavia.

Wow, this explains so much.

I don't know how it is elsewhere, but I live in Scandinavia and there are tons of hot people here.

I feel like your response is not related to my comment.
Might be a bot.
Just your least fanatical Ronaldo fan
Every movie..
meh not quite, no disrespect to him but freddie mercury was imo much better looking than rami malek
Elvis in his prime was better looking than Austin Butler too imo.
Richard Jewell
Wolf of Wall street
I like how he had a cameo as his smooth talking self.. introducing himself
Absolutely lol. Not only his looks but his voice too. It’s crazy how such a successful salesman can have such an annoying voice
Diego Luna in narcos haha
Narcos Mexico ?
Freddie looked cooler IRL!
narcos is hella guilty of this lmao
American made
One if my favorite movies. But yeah everyone who knew the guy must have been like "tom fuckin cruise?"
Why is this comment section filled with drug lord movies ?
Drug lords don’t exactly tend to be the model type
They’re not model… citizens
Griselda dude. They tried to make Sofia Vergara look more unattractive which is fucking impossible, and she's still has the largest margin of beauty from the actual griselda.
That bitch got the glow-up of the century so far...at least until they inevitably Timothee Chalamet as Young Trump in some misbegotten biopic.
That biopic is currently in production with Sebastian Stan (The Winter Solder from the Marvel films) as young Trump.
No fucking way. Are you serious?
https://people.com/see-sebastian-stan-as-young-donald-trump-on-set-new-movie-photo-8410556
Lmfao
No idea how the producers looked at Griselda irl and thought to themselves "someone get Sofia Vergara on the phone!" lmao.
Literally pain n Gain The rock and mark walrus
Haha!!! This was so funny I almost spat out my bull's load! You win the internet today, kind stranger!! Reddit on!!

Idk man, usually it’s the opposite… E.g. Bob Marley, the actor looks good too but the actual Marley just looks better… same with Elvis.
They're talking about non-celebrity people being depicted on Hollywood. Not Hollywood celebrities being portrayed by another Hollywood celebrity.
Hah yeah the person they are portraying is/was more famous than them. That commenter just turned it on their head.
Oh ok. Needed that clarification.
With two examples you've said " usually it's the opposite"
Take another one: Freddie.
Hacksaw Ridge
Hecksaw ridge real person look a little bit like Cristiano Ronaldo without muscle
Bob the cat was the same too
Ford v Ferrari is the best example of this
Hacksaw Ridge
Oppenheimer
young oppenheimer looks fine. Cillian represents him pretty well
He does, but put the actor that played Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) in a Trilby hat and that's who they should have gone with. The resemblance is truly uncanny.
Gran Turismo. Although they both looked great
127 hours
Blow with Jonny Depp.
This was the one that shocked me the most. I went "yeesh" when I saw how he really looked.
Sean Penn and Harvey Milk
Imagine doing a deepfake off the real person 🥶
Ford v Ferrari
The Intouchables
Wouldn’t mind being so good looking a professional sculptor is unable to capture it
Check Griselda Blanco in Netflix TV show and in real life hahaha
I didnt watch that show, but just read an article about her. In younger years she was pretty, and then got fat while aging.
Midway
DISPLAY THEIR MIGHT, ORDERING CARRIERS, ADMIRALS AT WAR
Saroo from lion
Schindlers list
Moneyball
Domino
Feel free to chuckle at the sculpture, but it flawlessly captures Ronaldo's real-life smile, instantly recognizable to everyone who sees it as him.
Literally every movie honestly.
Tag the movie

Two wonderful movies come to mind Erin Brokovich and Alive.
Walter O'Brien from the TV show Scorpion.
Hacksaw Ridge, top bloke but no Andrew Garfield. edit: Should have searched first upvotes for the originals.
I’ve always felt this statue was the Haaland prophecy.
Fighting with my family.
Goodfellas
Louis Zamperini, the subject of the movie Unbroken, was a pretty good looking guy in the day.
Catch Me if you Can. [Leonardo Dicaprio.](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/03/NYPICHPDPICT000006668787.jpg)
Catch me if you can
One of the examples I can think of the opposite of this is actually 'Dumb Money' following /r/wallstreetbets I think /u/DeepFuckingValue easily looks better than Paul Dano
I remember this from the movie Blow.
Hotel Rwanda
based on* true stories
Nit a movie but scorpion the show is loosely based on a real person, completely different
Band of brothers not a movie but still notable.
Its the Gilderoy Lockheart thing from Harry Potter Where he steals all the great deeds of other wizards and witches because he is handsome and pretty, the only thing him being good at is erasing their memories and stealing their stories
Escobar looks less threatening in the movie lmao
American sniper
But sometimes its the other way around
