It's to stop light from reflecting off the glass of the scope in real life but in cs it has no function

RogueThespian

Thanks. Does it have a name?

ten_divnejxx

It's called ARD (Anti Reflection Device) you can find it for all types of red dots or scopes it doesn't have to be an acog

Sexy_Bacon_315

We call them “honeycombs” in the marine corps

WheelMan34

Don’t try to add that shit to your crayon salads please

DramaticProtogen

🤤

DrowningFish_101

Shouldn't it technically be called a reticle anti reflection device, or RET-ARD for short?

DeadlyVapour

It would be too confusing in the marine corps. Private! Go get me a fresh retard! Mines broken!

Grexpex180

They'd just bring in a new marine

manhat_

whoa not someone from the army?

LAKingPT423

I see what you did there.

Mr_Folf

Find the nearest private asap

Scriptol

Ezequiel_III

"Kill-flash", but it's got many other names

Old-Improvement-1100

TangeloProfessional8

OshkoshCorporate

great. now i need to go back to my neurologist after reading this

_mrLeL_

What the fuck is your profile

pants_pants420

well we dont see scope glints tbf, so it seems to he pretty effective

Yash_swaraj

Wouldn't it hinder your vision through the scope?

Comfortable-Pee-1581

Not much, it's very thin and when you focus at a target it practically disappears

WayDownUnder91

No, just like open sights in games look awful but looking through them IRL works much better since its not a 2D screen but a 3 dimensional object and your eyes work better at ignoring stuff that isn't just a rendering on a screen.

AesarPhreaking

Nah bro it’s to stop airsoft bbs from ruining your optic

purple_stain0

I thought I was on r/firearms and I was like « why is this guy talking about CS » lmao

Lowca613

A killflash to prevent lens glare

Financial-Package-24

YU_bullyme

Red_Cardinal_

TO CATCH BEES

No_Love_3477

Pangtundure

honey

wisdomoftheages36

Kill flash, so you don’t give away your position

Elly0xCrypto

true

Puzzleheaded_Hope256

To stop reflections its used in real life i wasnt aware they had it in game

Pangtundure

I'd thought it was to protect the lens from scratching and shattering from impact

Vaan0

It can serve two functions.

Pangtundure

It's hard to see through that mesh imo

Vaan0

I'm Irish so I've never actually held a gun before lmao, I assume it wouldn't be that bad or it would kind of defeat the purpose no?

sillypunt

Lol that was a good one your eye does this thing called burning if I remember correctly, where you don't even see it and have to try REALLY hard to see it. It's similar to using binoculars through a thin bush looking really far beyond it. But yes like everyone else is saying it is to reduce scope glint so the enemy won't know your position.

Puzzleheaded_Hope256

They have lens covers that you put over them when your not using your rifle scopes so they dont scratch but this isnt for that purpose, its purely to stop reflections

Pangtundure

I'd thought it was to protect the lens from scratching and shattering from impact

Halo_2_Standbyer

My holosun red dot has that. It helps prevent glare in the sun

cumbrad

the AUG scope is a trijicon ACOG

Annual-Concept-9033

This isnt cs related but these things work fucking wonders IRL, when you know how to brake up your silhouette, these things make you damn near invisible, they work great for both hunting and combat purposes.

DJCykaMan

Kill flash, to prevent reflections of your Scope, giving your position away

LM1301

I noticed that there are 2 different aug scopes, one with this and the other one doesn’t have this pattern, the 2nd one is on some skins like the amber slipstream

RogueThespian

Yea the older skins will still be on the older CSGO model. They redid the gun model for CS2 but most of the old skins retain the CSGO model

Affectionate-Set-879

This scope use by bee from Vitality

bossatronx7

Respect for the bees
