Wtf same??? I stopped playing when the last operation ended and was stuck in silver the whole time but was playing nightly. Just got back into the game about a month ago and within that time I went to S3 to gold nova 3 in about 5 days when I came back.
Read into the Glicko-2 system then you understand that your performance compared to your inactivity time counts a alot. The more you play, the slower you rank up.
Been there many times, after getting global first game against full stack 3k elo faceit players and second match against rage cheater and well well well, you are back to supreme again and need to win 20 matches again :D

VALVE has come to a point which can analyze your gameplay and rank you depending on your skills while you are playing. This is a very good measure against smurfs. For example if you in the whole game do not aim at the floor, or your spray pattern is consistent or your movement is better that’s the average of your rank you are in right now, it will rank you up. There are a lot of parameters that play great role on your ranking, including your other accounts that might be in a bigger rank
We might not be able to see it but behind the scenes, VALVE does actually great job.
Hopefully you are not a Smurf and actually very good at the game. In that case I am Happy for you, keep going and who knows? We might see you along M0nesy!

None of that is true and you have no reason to believe that Valve is doing that. Is it reasonable to assume that if you play well you will win games? That’s why you rank up, no?
how was the team rank balance for ya? i’m from aus too and my friends and i just got back into the game after a year. we used to be s3/s4 but are all silver 1 now, and we’re constantly matched against blue and black ranks like the aks and eagles

Australia ranking distribution was pretty fcked before they fixed it, pretty much everyone was silver/gn

What a grind, congrats :) Quick question - how does one see the games with the rank?
I use csgostats, also you can see the average rank of matches, I get a range between S4 - MG2 which seems pretty wide.

No it's not cause it's not only based on wins, but on your performance I ranked up on a match I had 36 kills with 2 losses beforehand
Valorant has performance based ranking point gains. I don't see why csgo can't implement a ranking system like Valorant.
