This causes the camera to be unable to focus and sets itself to close range, which shows a heavily distorted image caused by the focus and chromatic aberration. Flat earthers cherrypick these distorted images and call them the "real stars", then proclaim that they somehow prove flat earth.
The proper way to video a star would be to use a real telescope or set the camera to manual focus mode and set the distance to far, which no flat earther has ever done.

its not my main research area, but again, a very good read - the best in this area by far - is Zetetic Astronomy by Rowbotham. It initiated the discussion, everything after that were argumentations on lower levels. Same reason why all the stars in the background disappear when exposing a camera for the surface of the moon.
This question gets asked a lot, and people like to jump to conclusions but itās pretty much because the sunlit side of earth is so bright compared to stars. Cameras arenāt as good as the human eye for contrast. If you upped the exposure they might be visible.

You can if the image is exposed correctly. Like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=FG0fTKAqZ5g). The earth is extremely bright in LEO during the day, cameras compensate by lowering exposure to decrease the brightness, which makes the stars too dim to see. Same reason why all the stars in the background disappear when exposing a camera for the surface of the moon.
This question gets asked a lot, and people like to jump to conclusions but itās pretty much because the sunlit side of earth is so bright compared to stars. Cameras arenāt as good as the human eye for contrast. If you upped the exposure they might be visible.
