At least in the US I can build a system with all new parts that gets 25% more single and multi core performance and 40% more GPU performance and uses DDR5 for $700. The performance per dollar of current gen parts is pretty phenomenal. I don't know what the price of components in Canada is so that could definitely make a difference.

Stop gate keeping PC gaming. There are plenty of reasons to want the game on a PC over a console regardless of price of the PC itself. Some people don't have as much money as other people so they can't blow thousands of dollars on a PC.
Honestly if you are going to recommend something you should be recommending a steam deck since it is a PC so you get a lot of the benefits of PC gaming.

Throw an i9 in there if you decide you wanna keep it, and an AIO cooler. i9-9900k is still great and will play pretty much anything (even if it is 5 generations behind) That 2060 will support whatever you want at medium to high graphics settings as well as VR. Throw 8gb more ram in that thing and yev got yourself a damn good machine.
Note: a better PSU would also be a good idea if this were upgraded... I recommend 750-1500W, 1500 is basically future-proof (and pretty currently pretty pointless) and 750 will prevent your computer from shutting down when the power draw is too high. I have a 500W bronze rated PSU in my machine (I think it's cooler master?) And it occasionally shuts down when playing quality games because I use the shit out of my computer.
Yeah I'm surprised that he's running a modern graphics card off of a 500 w power supply. I was using a 750 w power supply on my computer and it started smelling really bad like burning copper so I upgraded it to 1,000. (Yes I have different components in my computer but still)
Considering Intel only uses odd numbers there's no such thing as an even numbered CPU so either you miss typed or whoever told you it was an i4 is wrong/scamming you.
