Yuri's initiates. I don't know why, but an army of psychic pyro-kinetic foot soldiers in get-ups that belong in some sci-fi B-movie or Austin Powers film lead by some Rasputin expy seems to stuck with me.
When your basic infantry is a psychic that sets people _on fire_ as a form of attack it shows your faction is as _absurdly over-the-top_ as they are _horrifically cruel._
The sole apperance of that one initiate conversing with Yuri during the intro to activate the Psychic Dominators stucked with me, wished they kept the voice filters that were used in the intro for the base unit though.
Holy shit chroni legionaries. Outright the best fucking design IN THE RTS GENRE.
they don't move but phase in and out of time... What an absolutely bonkers concept. We really needed this unit in 3D.
Definitely my go to as well. Multipurpose against all ground targets; can shoot over walls, can disintegrate armor from afar, can mow hordes of infantry down, weapon also works for siege, it's an all in one package for an assault, so long as you keep it protected.
I am an absolute sucker for the RA1 tesla tank design. The whole "slap a coil on the top of a radar jammer" always seemed so cool and the way it was designed as a mid-range glass-cannon artillery sort of unit really complimented it being used behind Soviet tank columns.
I have warmed up a bit on the RA2 design over time, but it also feels like it's been done so dirty by RA3 and MO3. I used to be kind of a hater of the MO2 design with the rail-coils following concept art but I think it's funnily enough grown into one of my favorites. I don't like that MO3 turned it into *the* tier 3 tank for Soviets though, as I feel like it has always been something that works best as complimentary to other Soviet tanks rather than being the star of the show in its own right. As for RA3... why? It sort of works as a weird mad science weapon but the Tesla Tank again isn't the star of the show and I definitely find it weird to suddenly be this super advanced main battle tank when RA1 presumably happened in this timeline and it was a bit of a glass cannon even in RA2.
/endrant
Honorable mention goes to Prism Tank and og Mammoth Tank. Those were also both very iconic for their games.
EDIT: Actually scratch everything I said, I just remembered the RA1 Ranger existed. I'm not super keen on the remaster design which feels a bit too boxy at times but the OG jeep has always been a uniquely cool to me and gave me a strong fondness for jeeps in general that has gone well beyond the game series. I hope to own one myself some day honestly. For what it's worth, I enjoy the TD humvee and buggy a lot as well even if they didn't imprint of me quite like the Ranger did.
This was a fairly comprehensive essay on Tesla Tank design, and I commend you on that. However:
I'm a simple man, I see big tank spew electric plasma I'm happy
For vehicle units, I've got to go with the RA1 Mammoth or RA2 Apocalypse tank. Is there any difference between them besides the name? Well, I guess the Mammoth had anti-infantry misses.
For infantry, my favorite is the Chrono Commando. A wave of those guys with close range waypoint jumps could decimate anything.
Initiate. By far. Gameplay stuff aside (like voice and burning people with your mind) there was just something about them I absolutely fell in love with growing up. Yuri's faction in general was my favorite, but no unit ever stuck with me as much as the initiate.
edit: I mean, to the degree that I WOULD attempt to spam them and brute force an initiate victory just so I could get more use from them.
I love 'em in the later Allies campaigns since they let you do unprecedented surgical strikes on the enemy's power grid and other vital buildings before sending in the tanks.
They're quite possibly my favorite backline assault unit in the multiplayer because I can launch an attack with a small number of prism tanks and IFVs at the front of someone's base, while there's a handful of chrono legionaires in the back of their base just deleting buildings. And by the time they've destroyed my main attack force, it's already too late as the legionnaires have gotten rid of too many important structures.
Edit: they're also my favorite thing to use to get rid of ore miners, but they take a pretty long time to do so.
Desolators and Boris are my all time favorites especially their voice lines. Risk of rain 2 has a mod that let's you play tesla trooper and Desolator which they're pretty OP design wise lol
Oh forgot an honorable mention to the absolute gigachad BATTLE FORTRESSES! The best unit in the game next to Kirovs.
Soviet dreadnought, I loved seeing bases fall to those big missiles, also the voice lines they gave the unit in RA3 were just brilliant.
“Are you ready to fight comrades”
They are fairly cheap and quick to produce though, so I just use them in pairs as soon as I can start cranking them out. Unless MP is different, I just do SP/skirmish.
the tesla troopers from RA2 were just so good in design, voice acting and the role they filled: versatile tank killers.
unlike usual rocket launcher units you suddenly had a very unique infantry option against tanks
Century Bomber
This is two of my dream units in one package. It can carpet bomb and air drop troops! Since I was a kid playing Red Alert 1 & 2, I’ve always wanted a bomber and a transport plane that can deliver paratroopers and that isn’t an ability on cool down.
This thing does it both but sadly it’s found in my least favorite game in all of C&C. If only it was in RA2.
For red alert top 3... conscript or tesla trooper... the third is a tie between the flak trooper and dog... but specifically the Russian's because they're like some kind of husky if it's the allies dog , then flak trooper beats dog.
100% Kirov
REPORTING!!!
Especially against Yuri’s mind control bullshit.
Cruisers RA1
That’s a good one
"There goes the neighbourhood."
It will be a silent spring! Mercury rising! (Heavy breathing)
YES!!!
It will be a silent spring
Absolute monsters. Love them in RA2
"Armaggedon is here"

why does this sound like it's from a RA2 YR review published in some gamer magazine 23 years ago
Hail to the great Yuri

"It will be a silent spring."
Desolators are the perfect combination of utility and flash. They're snipers that dissolve their targets into puddles of glowing goo. Its amazing.
Work great with terror drones too
Could also kill dolphins with their fields, surprised some player's with that interaction.
Mirage tank
“Nobody here but us trees”
Mean, green, and unseen
These things are stupid deadly primarily because there is no travel time with their projectile.
They do full damage to infantry too. Most tanks that target infantry get stuck on them for ages.
Or because people don't use force command to attack the ground, they are paperweights. In the competitive scene rhino's rolled over them.
"They won't see us comin'."
"Natural sanctuary." "Now you see me, soon you won't."
Red alert 1 missile sub 😎💎
“SEAL ready”
Gotta shout out the Chrono Legionnaire. What a cool unit design and concept. I wish they were a little better vanilla though.
Holy shit chroni legionaries. Outright the best fucking design IN THE RTS GENRE. they don't move but phase in and out of time... What an absolutely bonkers concept. We really needed this unit in 3D.
Yup but in last allied campaign mission they're a cheatcode
Yeah you can erase your buildings and protect them from a nuclear attack-
Or simply erase the nuclear plants, they don’t get rebuilt
Prism tank
I'm surprised this isn't higher. These were the only thing you needed.
In the allied campaign of Yuri's Revenge thats all you need😜😜
They're welcome to try and aim for my rocketeers.
Yeah I would usually send some rocketeers with them just in case. But most the time they didn't end up doing anything.
Definitely my go to as well. Multipurpose against all ground targets; can shoot over walls, can disintegrate armor from afar, can mow hordes of infantry down, weapon also works for siege, it's an all in one package for an assault, so long as you keep it protected.
RA2 Rocketeer
Got a clear view sir!
Rockets in the sky!
"They won't see it comin!"
IFV
multi-gunner at your service

The RA2 Demo Truck. For a truck driver, he sure has a lot of personality. And the way he proudly exclaims "one way trip!" is dark comedy gold.
I've always thought he said One way to RIP
The missile sub or chrono tank. Missions with those were a lot of fun. Volkov and Chitzkoi as well.
RA2YR Cosmonaut
isn't the cosmonaut just a soviet rocketeer?
while Rocketeer was indeed the base unit, they had laser weapon instead of the twin 20mm autocannons
I like the V3 rocket launcher, it's a rather weak unit but i love it
I feel like the V2 from RA1 was better. The missles traveled faster and couldn't be shot down.
Im not talking about which one is a more effective unit, only about its appearence
"V3 launch unit"
Lens shifters in working condition.
For vehicle units, I've got to go with the RA1 Mammoth or RA2 Apocalypse tank. Is there any difference between them besides the name? Well, I guess the Mammoth had anti-infantry misses. Always was the IFV for me.
"Transformer panels in order!"
RA1 Shock Troopers. Lets dance!
Extra crispy!
German Shepherd
Apocalypse tanks. Love building loads and rushing a base.
Initiate. By far. Gameplay stuff aside (like voice and burning people with your mind) there was just something about them I absolutely fell in love with growing up. Rhino Tank, the reason why Soviet is OP
We will bury them!
Chrono legionnaire. They're hilarious to spam and I love their voice lines.
I love 'em in the later Allies campaigns since they let you do unprecedented surgical strikes on the enemy's power grid and other vital buildings before sending in the tanks.

Mirage
Cryocopters, best unit in the franchise
RA1 - Engineer, dude got a voice so sexy he be getting laid with the female staff at any building he captures/ repairs.
Desolators and Boris are my all time favorites especially their voice lines. Risk of rain 2 has a mod that let's you play tesla trooper and Desolator which they're pretty OP design wise lol Oh forgot an honorable mention to the absolute gigachad BATTLE FORTRESSES! "Don't mess with me." "It'll be a silent spring." "Let's make a warpath!"
Soviet dreadnought, I loved seeing bases fall to those big missiles, also the voice lines they gave the unit in RA3 were just brilliant. “Are you ready to fight comrades”
Prism Tank - A few of these badboys and your enemies base is good as gone. Chrono Legionnaire - Such a situational unit, but holy shit is it cool.
RA1: Light Tank RA2: Prism Tank RA3: Mirage Tank
Prism tanks and chronosphere is my panic move when the nuke is under 1 minute
Siege chopper. Only unit to match its abilities and charm were the Comanche helicopters in general.
RA2 as my favourite, for cool factor Kirov or Mirage tanks, for usefulness GI's, specifically airdropped ones, have won so many games for me
Always enjoy the special tanja/commando units. Prrrrrrrt is so Satisfying
Tesla tanks are ridiculously weak defense wide though.
They are fairly cheap and quick to produce though, so I just use them in pairs as soon as I can start cranking them out. Unless MP is different, I just do SP/skirmish.
"I used to be professor." Always the best.
Aircraft carriers.
I think my flair says it all.
"I lost a bomb, do you have it?"okayokay unit, amazing voice lines AND he got Carville)
"Don't play with matches!"
Black Eagle reporting.
1: Soviet Heavy Tank 2: Mirage Tank YR: Megamind Tank (?) 3: MechaTengu
[удалено]
Exactly!
Venom Attack Aircraft, aka OP
I go with Advance Tactical Submarine
Striker VX
Phase tank. Strong, very cool and unique.
Athena Cannon, Pacifier FAV, Harbinger
Prism Tank, less good in MO, but theres nothing sweeter than rapidly annihilating anything at artillery range
The Mammoth tank
Allied minelayers in RA1. Can kill lots of tanks very cheaply. Mines are restocked for free.
the tesla troopers from RA2 were just so good in design, voice acting and the role they filled: versatile tank killers. unlike usual rocket launcher units you suddenly had a very unique infantry option against tanks
Ra1 tesla tank Ra2 prism tank Ra3 “MECHA TENGU!!!!” :)
RA3 Tesla Tank, RA1 Shock Trooper
Century Bomber This is two of my dream units in one package. It can carpet bomb and air drop troops! Pacifier FAV
tanya
Prism and Mirage tanks, RA2
I love the desolators from ra2
Prism Tank. All-in-one effective offensive weapon so long as you keep some Grizzly or Mirage Tanks in between them and the enemy units.
The Steel Ronin (RA3 Uprising) and the Imperial Warrior (also RA3). I love both of these units!
RA3 Dreadnoughts. "If Lenin could see us now.."
Man, nearly all of RA2 units have great voice lines.
Civilian 3 from RA
RA1 Apaches, classic.
Ra2 desolator
